I'm really tired of the screeching women and wish the director of this drama would get them to lower the pitch a few hundred decibels.  You can depict anger without elevating the pitch to dog calling heights.😒

 

I'm counting on the people that now know the real identity of Dora to see the light and realize how important it is for her future to play along with her new persona.  The negative media attention she would receive if the truth came out would push her back to suicide again.  Pil Seung was very strong against conniving Mom, and though she was insulted, I think it's beginning to sink in.  This could get interesting.

 

Someone mentioned Dora possibly being "pushed" at the waterfront.  I keep thinking about rich boy telling someone, "I need you to do something".  I wouldn't put it past him to have planned something evil.

another reason to not check back in with the drama. it is not like viewers will enjoy dora being fleeced, manipulated and used again. are we supposed to wait till the end when she does a weak protest?

“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” is a romance drama about an actress who hits rock bottom overnight and the producing director (PD) who gets her back on her feet out of love. Im Soo Hyang stars as A-list actress Park Do Ra, who has been worked to the bone for years by her ruthless stage mom—and whose life undergoes an unexpected change when she happens to run into assistant director Go Pil Seung (Ji Hyun Woo) on the set of a drama.

Previously, the truth behind Go Pil Seung’s birth mother was revealed. So Geum Ja (Im Ye Jin), who found it suspicious that Jang Soo Yeon (Lee Il Hwa) took such good care of Pil Seung, requested a DNA test between Pil Seung and Gong Ma Ri (Han Soo Ah) and learned that Jang Soo Yeon is Pil Seung’s birth mother. Kim Sun Young (Yoon Yoo Sun) felt shocked and betrayed, expressing her anger toward Jang Soo Yeon.

 

The newly released stills depict the stifling confrontation between Jang Soo Yeon, Kim Sun Young, and So Geum Ja. Soo Yeon visits Sun Young’s house and gets on her knees, apologizing in tears while finally opening up her feelings to Sun Young. Leaning against Geum Ja for support while crying, Sun Young explodes with emotions at the face of such unexpected reality.

 

 

Sun Young further requests the rest of her family to keep this truth a secret from Pil Seung, making viewers wonder whether Pil Seung will eventually find out the truth.

The next episode of “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” will air on June 30 at 7:55 p.m. KST.

The SML is denying that he feels guilty for Dora's death while still being guilty of her death. The drama isn't telling us something. I still think he accidentally pushed Dora into the sea.

This weekend's episodes are so well written and acted.  Surely there will be numerous supporting role awards as the acting is superb.  The birth secret is out to most people, and at the end of the last episode, Pil Seung will become aware of the whole story soon.  I like that this came out and was addressed pretty thoroughly in 2 episodes, so the story moves on to the next level.  Even Mi Ra's character has moved on from what was presented earlier as a somewhat incapable person, to a more mature support for her mother, even though this latest reveal has even MR not liking her Mother.

 

The drama was so extreme that it reminded me of something you might see on a Broadway stage.  Yes, you could see where it was all going, but the agony and deceitfulness that was portrayed by Mother and friend is all out there, no one was holding back.  Good for Dad who also expressed his shock and disappointment for being fooled.  The family is definitely united in their outrage.

 

I sense some real turns in the near future that will take us in new directions, and I'm looking forward to it.

checked it out and it was well done. 

 

dora continues to be annoying. for the FL, her arc is the most frustrating. yes, she has amnesia but that does not mean she is stupid? why would just immediately accept the mom and doing her bidding? she can check the internet and found out mom's gambling was being blamed for her jump into the sea. but no, she is not interested in hearing the truth. dora is such a doormat in every life it seems. facepalm.

no they are not comparable at all. 

so pil seung did not hide her identity for his benefit. it was for dora's sake. dora had self-harmed herself because of the actions of her mother. her brothers had benefited from her being an actress but they didn't protect her from vultures. pil seung knew that dora's mom had even asked her to do nude pictures as a way of getting out of debt. therefore, his actions make sense because he was trying to protect her. also, it was for a brief period of time and once, dora found out, he didn't deny his role and neither did he deny that she was dora. so he didn't hide her identity.

 

in contrast:

as pil seung rightly pointed out, everything rich mom did was for her own benefit. she is a user.

-- she abandons pil seung as a baby because it didn't suit the needs of her family. 

-- she re-enters his life through deception because she couldn't keep away. so it was about her emotions. 

-- she continued to insert herself into their family and made it seem like she was doing them a favour. so she made herself look good by using them. she manipulated them. 

-- she wants an heir because mari is not all there in her head. so bringing pil seung into the production company does have a note of selfishness again on her part

-- through it all, she has never revealed her identity because it would hurt her relationship with her husband. she had the opportunity to lay the cards when pil seung went to meet her as a teenager. she did not reveal because it wouldn't suit her or her family. 

 

so there are lots of differences between the two situations.

This is frustrating, even after Mari's mom gets caught by her friend and her bio-son, she still can't tell her husband that she abandoned a child. She now demands a divorce but won't say why other then she can't live her husband anymore.

True. Why is she so afraid of telling him? Mari's father doesn't seem like a type that would reject dating/marrying a single parent. His father probably but he dated/married  a woman the same age as Mari's mother.   

 

And now Phil-Seung's adopted mom has now told SML's mother that the baby in the photo is Phil-Seung. That family had to find out from a third person. Mari's mom hasn't told anyone that she's Phil-Seung mom first except for Mari herself. Everyone had to find out via third person.

They introduced a new elder male character. Who based on a photo, could be SML's mom's ex husband/boyfiend. He's SML's real father isn't he? Looks like a con-artist.  

 

It's crazy that most characters in k-dramas deal with loan sharks that are run by gangsters. 

 

 

 

At some point... the real Ji-Young has to come back, right?

IN THE LATEST EPISODE, Mari's mom tells Mari that she feels bad trying to hide Phil-Sing's birth secret from Mari's dad and that she is tired of keeping that secret and that it's unfair for Mari's dad and sooner or later he's going to find out himself, and he's going to be really hurt BUT she doesn't want be the one to tell him that herself. All she want to wants to do is run way. She even asks Mari to move out with her. She didn't learn anything from Phil-Sing's lecture at all.   

 

She doesn't care about her friend's feelings, she doesn't care about Phil-Sung's feelings, she  doesn't care about Mari's feelings. She doesn't care about her husband's feelings. All she cares about her feelings. 

 

 

Mari's mom continues to be selfish!!

in addition to being selfish, she is a coward who does not want to take accountability. she did not marry mari's dad for love. it was not only arranged but a pragmatic decision on her part. now over the years, she loves him but initially it was a business relationship. however, on his side, it was always love and he has this view that she is a lovely person. so it makes it harder for her to accept that his rose coloured glasses are completely wrong. 

 

also, she looked down on SML's mother but now with the truth, she can't act so  uppity. basically it is just pride and so she would rather run than face the consequences. 

 

am really enjoying how senile grandma is driving dora's mom mad. it is hilarious that she accepted the two lads as her son and grandson but thinks dora's mom is stepmom.  even though she may be senile, she may have a better read on the woman. maybe she will make dora realize how bad things were.

That's a good point, @Lmangla, maybe someone who doesn't have a family interest, or money, or love interest will be the one to protect Dora the most.  I'm hoping Grandma will be the one to have some real impact on what happens to Dora.  Mom's money problems resurfacing again could start to trigger some flashbacks for Dora, but I hope Grandma sticks around to monitor it all.
