Character descriptions

 

 

Jin Yi Soo (Ahn Bo Hyun )  has everything in life. Being a third-generation conglomerate, he never requires others’ assistance. However, things start changing when he gets entangled in a case. Jin Yi Soo will have to join the violent investigative team at the Kangha Police Station that specializes in catching robbers. Following his joining Kangha Police station, he gets involved in catching people who are involved in corruption and criminals who have been backed by the authorities.

Park Ji Hyun and Ahn Bo Hyun may be starring in a new drama together!

On February 9, Sports Chosun repored that Park Ji Hyun is in talks to star in SBS’s upcoming drama “Gold Spoon” (literal title). In response to the report, a source from Park Ji Hyun’s agency shared, “Park Ji Hyun is positively reviewing the offer to star in ‘Gold Spoon.'”

“Gold Spoon” is a drama that depicts the growth and romance story of an immature third generation chaebol becoming a detective. The drama will be penned by scriptwriter Kim Ba Da of “My Name” and helmed by PD (producing director) Kim Jae Hong of “Steal Heart” and “My Love Eun Dong.”

Park Ji Hyun, who recently impressed audiences as Mo Hyun Min in “Reborn Rich,” has been offered the role of Lee Kang Hyun, a veteran detective who graduated from a police academy. Lee Kang Hyun is a workaholic who has a strong sense of responsibility and takes pride in being a police officer, and in addition to being greatly passionate, she has exceptional investigative and social skills as well as a flexible mindset.

Earlier in January this year, YTN Star reported that Ahn Bo Hyun was in talks to star in “Golden Spoon” as the leading role of the third generation chaebol Jin Yi Soo. A source from Ahn Bo Hyun’s agency stated, “Ahn Bo Hyun is confirmed to star in ‘Golden Spoon,’ and he is gearing up for filming.” If Park Ji Hyun accepts the role, this will be Ahn Bo Hyun and Park Ji Hyun’s second time working together after “Yumi’s Cells.”

According to a South Korean media outlet, Kwak Si Yang has been offered to act alongside Ahn Bo Hyun and Park Ji Hyun in the upcoming drama Chaebol and Police Detective. The drama follows a young and rich man falling for a talented police detective. Kwak Si Yang’s role has not been confirmed yet and he is currently reviewing it. With a great trio, if confirmed, will create a great romantic comedy-drama in the coming year! 

 

Ahn Bo Hyun was chosen to play the male lead, Jin Yi Soo, the youngest son of a chaebol family and part of the third generation. Park Ji Hyun is said to have been offered the role of Lee Kang Hyun, the female lead in the drama. Lee Kang Hyun is a cop who moved on from the police academy to the head of Gangha Police Station's 1st Violent Crimes team. Earlier, Park Ji Hyun and Ahn Bo Hyun appeared together in the drama Yumi's Cells, which was released in 2021. The two played as one another's close friends. There has been developing interest in whether these two actors will perform the roles as a couple through this drama. The other person who has been cast in the drama is Kang Sang Jun, who assumes the part of Yoo Jun Yeong, a member of Gangha Police headquarters' Violent Crimes Team 1. He is a great son who longed to become a soccer player, yet he quit and applied to the police force out of dread of being a burden to his mother. He is also the closest friend of Lee Kang Hyun. On November 16, The Daily Sports reported that former APRIL member Lee Naeun will resume her activities through SBS’s new drama “Flex x Cop.”

In response to the report, Lee Naeun’s agency Namoo Actors shared, “It is true that Lee Naeun will star in SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Flex x Cop.'”

“Flex x Cop” is a drama that depicts the growth and romance story of an immature third generation chaebol becoming a detective. Former April member Lee Na Eun to officially resume her activities through the upcoming K-drama Chaebol X Detective.

On November 16, media outlets shared that Lee Na Eun will return from her hiatus and will challenge acting once again by participating in the upcoming mystery romance K-drama Chaebol X Detective. 

Lee Na Eun's current agency Namoo Actors confirmed the news and revealed that the idol actress is confirmed to join the new series. 

The agency also revealed that Lee Na Eun will be seen in the 9th and 10th episodes of the upcoming K-drama and she will portray the role of a celebrity. 

Lee Na Eun made a hiatus in February 2020 after the bullying controversy of her K-Pop group April broke out. She was supposed to play the role of Pyo Ye Jin's character Ahn Go Eun in Taxi Driver. Due to the controversy, Lee Na Eun had to step down from the 2020 K-drama. 

Her K-pop group April disbanded in January 2022 and Lee Na Eun signed to a new home. She became part of the actor management company Namoo Actors in June 2022. 

This will be the grand comeback of Lee Na Eun to the entertainment industry after almost four years. 

 

 

Chaebol X Detective will tell the story of an immature third-generation conglomerate that will join the police violent team as a detective.

The upcoming K-drama will be the collaboration project of director Kim Jae Hong (Revenant and Through the Darkness and screenwriter Kim Ba Da (My Name).

It will be led by Ahn Bo Hyun, Park Ji Hyun, Kang Sang Jun, and Kwak Shi Yang.

Rising actor Kim Shin Bi will join the cast of the upcoming mystery romance K-drama FlexxCop.

On December 1, Kim Shin Bi's agency PrainTPC announced that their artist Kim Shin Bi will be part of the cast of the upcoming SBS K-drama. They also asked viewers to show interest in Kim Shin Bi. 

Kim Shin Bi made his acting debut in 2020 through the BL film Journey to the Shore. He led the short film with actor Kim Dong Hwi. He then pursued his acting career and starred in both movies and K-dramas. 

For this year, Kim Shin Bi made an impact on his performance in the SBS K-drama Revenant led by Kim Tae Ri, Oh Jung Se, Hong Kyung, Park Ji Young, Yang Hye Ji, and Jin Seon Kyu.

Introducing the new partners in Chaebol x Detective

With the year coming to a close soon, a new batch of dramas are getting ready to hit the airwaves, including SBS’s Chaebol x Detective. The upcoming show stars Ahn Bo-hyun (See You in My 19th Life) and Park Ji-hyun (Reborn Rich) as your classic buddy cop duo, and promises to deliver tons of laughs.

Jin Yi-su (Ahn Bo-hyun) is a third-generation son of a chaebol family and lands a job as a detective through connections. Unlike your typical K-drama cop, Yi-su has both money and power — the epitome of “young and rich.” Transparent and shrewd, his favorite thing to do is play, but it will be hard to shirk his duties with his new partner around.

 

As the first female team leader of the Violent Crimes division, detective Lee Kang-hyun (Park Ji-hyun) is very much the opposite of her new junior. Her favorite thing to do is investigate cases, which will likely put her at odds with Yi-su. Described as easygoing and lax with traditions, Kang-hyun has plenty of things on her plate from solving a variety of mysteries to handling her new, annoying partner.

Also part of the Violent Crimes unit is Kang Sang-joon (True to Love) as Park Jun-young. He is Kang-hyun’s best friend and a level-headed detective who makes decisions based off reason rather than emotions. Lastly, rounding out the team is youngest member and “mascot” Choi Kyung-jin played by Kim Shin-bi (Revenant). Besides the main group, the show boasts plenty of veteran actors in its cast as well as a special appearance by Kwak Shi-yang (Cafe Minamdang) who will be playing Yi-su’s brother.

Written by Kim Ba-da (My Name) and directed by PD Kim Jae-hong who will be taking the helm on his first main project, Chaebol x Detective is slated to premiere sometime next month in the Friday-Saturday slot following My Demon.

“Flex x Cop” is a drama that depicts the growth and romance of an immature third-generation chaebol who becomes a detective. The drama will be penned by scriptwriter Kim Ba Da of “My Name” and helmed by producing director Kim Jae Hong of “Steal Heart” and “My Love Eun Dong.”

Park Ji Hyun plays Lee Kang Hyun, the first female team leader of the Homicide Department and a veteran detective who graduated from a police academy. Lee Kang Hyun is a workaholic who has a strong sense of responsibility and takes pride in being a police officer, and in addition to being greatly passionate, she has exceptional investigative and social skills as well as a flexible mindset. However, her detective life faces a major turning point when she meets Jin Yi Soo (Ahn Bo Hyun), who unexpectedly becomes her investigative partner.

In the released stills, Lee Kang Hyun in her short haircut exudes unrivaled charisma as a female detective. Her sharp gaze and confident facial expression in casual outfits give a sneak peek at how dedicated she is to her work.

Reborn Rich actress Park Ji Hyun is making a comeback as the heroine of FlexxCop.

FlexxCop follows the story of Jin Yi Soo, an immature man from a chaebol family who becomes a detective in the violent crime department and solves cases by exploiting the privileges that come with his wealth and status. 

On December 21, FlexxCop unveiled the first stills of actress Park Ji Hyun, who will be seen as Detective Lee Kang Hyun.  

Lee Kang Hyun is a passionate detective who spares no effort in catching the criminals. Her dedication and hard work led her to become the first female team leader in the history of the violent crimes department.

The stills show Lee Kang Hyun dressed in casual attire, her hair trimmed to a pixie cut, determination shining in her eyes, and a smile reflecting her self-confidence.

 

 

 

Furthermore, her commanding presence during a press briefing radiates her charisma.

 

 

Lee Kang Hyun prides herself on being a police officer and takes her duties very seriously. But, her life takes a surprising turn when the third-generation chaebol Jin Yi Soo (Ahn Bo Hyun) gets into the picture like a bolt from the blue.

The collaboration between Lee Kang Hyun and Jin Yi Soo, who takes an unconventional path to solving cases that contradict Kang Hyun's conventional investigation methods, hints we will be getting another bickering K-drama couple on the list.  

FlexxCop is helmed by Revenant director Kim Jae Hong, and the screenplay is penned by My Name screenwriter Kim Ba Da. Besides Ahn Bo Hyun and Park Ji Hyun, the K-drama also casts Kang Sang Jun, Kim Shin Bi, Kwon Hae Hyo, and Jang Hyun Sung, among others.

SBS has unveiled teaser posters and confirmed the premiere date of FlexxCop for January 26.

FlexxCop follows the story of Jin Yi Soo, an immature man from a chaebol family who becomes a detective in the violent crime department and solves cases by exploiting his wealth and status. 

The first teaser poster displays a medley of intriguing objects, which look like they are someone's personal belongings. Particularly intriguing is the stark contrast between the items.

At the top, a hodgepodge of police investigation-related gear — such as firearms, handcuffs, baton, a police cap, and walkie-talkies — is shown. On the other hand, the lower section showcases the owner's expensive belongings, displaying items like a gold bar, a bike, and luxury accessories.

A closer look at the Polaroid photo reveals that the owner of these items is none other than Jin Yi Soo (Ahn Bo Hyun).  

The second teaser poster shows Jin Yi Soo sporting a confident smile. Dressed in chic attire, with his hair neatly styled to a pomade, he gives the vibe of a filthy rich young man.

 

Anticipation heightens for Ahn Bo Hyun's portrayal of Jin Yi Soo, a wealthy man taking up the job of a detective and using his riches and connections to solve crime cases. 

FlexxCop is scheduled to premiere on January 26.

The promo train has taken off on SBS as well, releasing the eye-raising English title Flex x Cop (previously Chaebol x Detective), in addition to the first stills of our buddy cop leads, Ahn Bo-hyun (See You in My 19th Life) and Park Ji-hyun (Reborn Rich).
