Just to throw abit of light/perspective on Tae Bong's legal background...

S Univeristy Law school probably refers to Seoul National University Law School which is of course, as everyone knows, the most prestigious Uni in Korea and especially for law.. In reality, 90% of people who pass the Bar each year come from SNU

Lee & Jang is probably a variation of Korea's top law firm, Kim & Jang. They are a HUGE firm (something like 200+/300+ lawyers) and are specialists in M&A and all sorts of corporate work with alot of international transactions etc. So basically.. prestige, prestige.

All alittle unrealistic in my opinion... considering his Korean age is only 27.. Law school in Korea is also a post-graduate PLUS studying for the bar (which is notoriously difficult to pass and needs crazy amounts of studying) PLUS attending the Judicial training Institute for a year so unless he's out of the world bright.. its just .... alittle out of proportion. In fact, most newly called Korean lawyers I know are about 28/29? (this refers to Western age)

Hehe.. just abit of off topic info that I found interesting.. and in the meanwhile I'm going to go back to rooting for TaeBong and Dalja to get together soon.. >< Ive abit of an allergy to her supposed prince charming.. played by Lee Hyunwoo...

edit: of course this being TV world we can't expect it to all follow reality but just abit of interesting trivia ^^

thank you suzziee for shedding a bit more light on the whole legal background. kdramas love to do that, don't they? take names of real firms/companies, etc. and just change one word here or there to make it slightly different to use it in the drama. :P

yes, I think we all agree that the probability of an average person being a lawyer working at a prestigious law firm at 21 (Western age, according to TB's profile) from any country is highly unlikely and unrealistic. but of course, even in real life there are always those exceptions - the character of TB just happens to be one of them. as we all know, he is rather exceptionally smart.

a little bit off topic here, but I think that is exactly the reason why his dream is to open a successful doshirak restaurant. Rather than always doing what he was told or what he knew would please his parents the most (as was revealed in ep 10 in the convo b/t TB and his dad at DJ's mom's restaurant), he wants to stop thinking with his head and rather start acting with his heart, for a change. that is also probably part of the reason why he left home.

oh yeah, haha... I loved the comment about

too funny  his character in this drama does seem rather... quirky & freaky(?). I agree with mzsmiley - I think he totally has OCD. remember the scene when he starts cleaning the house while that rather scary music starts playing in the background? and then again at DJ's apt when he shows up while she's not there - on his way out, he purposely turns that Russian doll around to face forward (hello! it's not his doll, let alone his place). imagine what their life would be like if DJ and UKJ ever got together. :sweatingbullets: I would feel so sorry for DJ. those 2 simply don't match. simply put, he doesn't get her... unlike TB, of course. ;)

^Lol.. actually.. *whisper* I always had an allergy to the actor Lee HyunWoo.. he's kinda stiff and it doesn't help that he always plays the cool ajusshi type roles. And furthermore, I think Dalja has this sort of repressed energy, capacity to love yet going with him would mean that it stiffles her... if that makes any sense. Although she's 33 she really doesn't seem like it so the 6 years gap doesnt seem that visible btw her and Tae Bong.

And fair enough I take the point that TaeBoong may be some sort of a prodigy but I guess what Im trying to say is that those are like 1 in a million cases, considering how I read an article that the pass rate for the Bar exam in Korea is 2% anually and wow.. to be a prodigy of prodigy... heheh... What just impresses me is that he doesn't try to act big-shot

This drama is really happy and youthful, yet sad at the same time. Korea is one society that puts so much pressure on marrying the right kind of guy- looks, social status etc but happiness is always neglected so I hope Dalja finds her own sort of unorthodox happiness in her life ^^

And thanks n5y17cgirl, for doing the translations and what not for anyone who may need them ^^

Is it just me or what, but CR's new look and hairstyle is very different from her other roles, and I don't want to be mean or anything, but I don't like it. It just does not fit her at all. Also, I noticed that her face is chubbier than before. I know that you need to have a new look and style for a new drama, but I just don't like it. Sorry for being a pest.

Thank you everyone for posting all screen caps!

I don't like CR's new look either, but i like the fact that she is always different in her dramas. She acts differently and she looks different compare to those other actress who always act and look the same in every role. CR is never boring!

Of course, it’s my pleasure. I try to help out whenever I can. :)

Hahaha :P very true. He is a total ahjushi. (anyone else remember him from the 2005 KBS drama "Wedding"??) Which reminds me… I think it was in that first Making of Dal Ja’s Spring - Press Conference, the actor LHW makes a comment about (paraphrasing here) “how he always ends up playing these roles where he never gets the girl. And he’s hoping this won’t be another one of them. But, although the script at the beginning of the drama looked promising, now…” he’s not so sure.

A little bit of foreshadowing here, but… So you know how DJ’s grandma is all for DJ hookin’ up with TB the 'spare tire'… Does anyone else think that she might be the first one to change her mind and be adamantly against the two getting together, once she finds out who TB’s dad is? I mean, she has HER son (DJ’s dad) to think about, too…

Korea is one society that puts so much pressure on marrying the right kind of guy- looks, social status etc but happiness is always neglected so I hope Dalja finds her own sort of unorthodox happiness in her life ^^

Amen to that! Hehe ^^

I don't like the hair either, but I think that's suppose to be how the character is like. Frankly, I find the character has bad hair style taste, too much make up and screams too much :P haha I wonder if that's suppose to be the stereotyped characteristics of ajummas. Ahh, I find she doesn't seem to act very smart either. At times she seems dumbfounded. Makes me wanna scream at her.

oh forgot to mention, I love Lee Min Ki's character ^^; He's so funny and witty.

Also, what's with Dalja's black finger nail colour...its so ugly...

Well basically the hair is just there to make her look older as we all obviously know... i dont exactly hate her hair or love it, the same with her makeup... i found it funny in the scene with Se Do's father, he was like, what's wrong with this bomb hair haha... and like fivemagic said i noticed chae rim's face is chubbier too! but it's not like she's fat, but her face is just REALLY round... i like black nail polish but it doesnt look all that great on chae rim however i do think that in this show chae rim have GREAT style i loveeeee most of her outfits now i may not be the age to wear those type of clothing, but when i get older i will be sure to dress like that because i find it really pretty XD aigoo maybe it's just me again

Well, if you notice her hair and makeup. It stands out from the rest of the other cast. You don't see them as outrageous ^^; Especially with the moutains of foundation and dark eyeliner. Even Wee Seon Ju doesn't wear that much makeup. But then she is older and does look older already. I'm not sure if ODJ's thick makeup is suppose to represent something. But it seems to give me the impression of lack of self confidence so she hides under tons of make up. Or the need to impress, so she tries to wear dark eyeliner to make her eyes stand out.

I noticed the thick make up especially when Eom Ji Woong's ex-wife or whatever his name is. (Yea he has bad acting lol). Anyhow when the ex-wife was standing next too DJ, and DJ put her hands to her face to prepare for a slap, u notice her hands and face colour are so different. But then when I saw the ex-wife's hand and her face, it wasn't as prominate. I started noticing the other cast too and they weren't so outrageous. Or maybe it's just me for observing and being too critical about it. The black nails turned me off too. It's so tacky on her. It makes me think she's lacking self confidence.

hehe yes. please stop casting lee hyeon woo in these roles. actually he should stop acting.

but i love love i mean LOVE his singing. especially for the 'invisible man choi jang su' ost. that was PERFECT.

see. he's got talent. ^^

i think in real life 'taeboong' doesn't exist. he's an extreme fantasy. or maybe i'm jaded. but c'mon. how many 33 year old ahjumma to be's will be courted by a 26 year old law prodigy///??? it's okay though. fantasies are nice. throw them in the shower while you're at it. heh ~

Korea is one society that puts so much pressure on marrying the right kind of guy- looks, social status etc but happiness is always neglected so I hope Dalja finds her own sort of unorthodox happiness in her life ^^

but i think in the same vein, the so called society is not something out there you can part from when you live in it. dalja's friends, family, and dalja herself are all part of this society, so happiness is achieved when you fit in... realistically, how happy will she when she is an outcast. not sure. i'd like to see how the writer resolves this. i hope it's not one that ends w/ her and taeboong in a camping car riding away somewhere.

And it's not just DJ's grandma. Can you imagine TB's mom's reaction to all this? She already calls DJ "that soosemi."

I wonder, though, if TB's dad will emerge as their surprise ally. Since he caved in to societal pressure to leave the woman he loved and ended up regretting it for the rest of his life, he might not want TB to make the same mistake.

What does thoose arrows say in the first capture?

They point out that DJ and TB are wearing matching clothes.

--> DJ: white pearl necklace / TB: white head towel

--> DJ & TB: black, grey tone striped knit

--> DJ & TB: black pants

Cute :)

Also, the pic of TB eating the apple pie has the caption, "For an apology, an apple pie," which is what GJ's ex-wife said as she gave DJ the apple pie to apologize for her past behavior. Apple = sagwa, apology = sagwa. Yes, in case we forgot GJ's wife was nuts...

Of course, I agree with you, in REAL LIFE, the chances for it to happen is very low ...but I know of a colleague she is a lady lawyer in her 30s who married another lawyer in his 20s what's more, not only is she older, she is taller than him, bigger size than him and she is an Indian whilst he is a Chinese....talk about imcompatibility....

The age gap is also a big deal to Dal Ja...remember she told him that it never cross her mind to date a guy younger than her and that she doesn't think of a younger guy as a GUY in the first place....she also has been affected by society's prejudices and especially in Korean society, women who dates younger men are frowned upon...but I believe Tae Bong is an open minded guy....so let's watch and see what will happen next....

TB: I've never liked accepting free money I have no reason to receive. Plus, this place is fairly suitable for freeloading. [literally he says he can "rub up against" this place]

GJ: You don't like free money, but it's all right to live off a woman?

TB: Yes. Because she's not any woman. She's the woman I'm attracted to.

This is a minor point, but I just wanted to clarify that a more accurate translation of GJ's line would be "You don't like free money, but it's all right to impose yourself on a woman living alone?" GJ is implying the impropriety of a man invading a single woman's home, rather than criticizing him for being financially dependent on a woman (though there's some of that, too). So TB's reply, "It's not any woman," doesn't imply he wants to live off DJ's money (remember TB paid DJ back the contract fee so there wouldn't be any money talking in the relationship!). He just means he wouldn't live with Dalja if he didn't like her.

However, TB does use somewhat crass language to say he's imposing himself on DJ, saying he's "rubbing up against" or "rolling around in" DJ's apt. You totally know TB talks like his go-stop-playing mother. B)
