JTBC’s highly-anticipated drama “King the Land” has dropped the first stills of 2PM’s Lee Junho!

 

“King the Land” is about a chaebol heir named Gu Won (Lee Junho) who cannot stand fake smiles. He meets Cheon Sa Rang (Girls’ Generation’s YoonA) who is always equipped with a bright smile even when she does not want to due to the nature of her profession, and together, the two set out to find happy days in which they can sincerely smile brightly together. King the Land refers to a VVIP business lounge, which is a place of dreams for hoteliers.

 

Lee Junho will play Gu Won, the heir of King Group who is charismatic, intelligent, and has everything but memories of his mother. In an attempt to recover his forgotten memories of his mother, he returns to King Hotel and meets employee Cheon Sa Rang who is the complete opposite of him and clashes with her at every turn.

 

In the newly released stills, Gu Won exudes extraordinary charisma with a neatly trimmed hairstyle and a well-fitted three-piece suit. Instead of Lee Junho’s trademark smile which reaches his eyes, Gu Won throws a cold gaze as a character who despises smiles. Anticipation is high for Lee Junho’s new acting transformation in “King the Land.”

Cheon Sa Rang is a hotelier with a beautiful smile, exceptional skills, and a friendly attitude. After making her happiest memories at King Hotel when she was young, she becomes a member of the King Hotel herself, providing customers with the greatest sense of satisfaction as she aims to sincerely gift others an enjoyable day like she experienced in the past.

 

 

In the newly released stills, YoonA lights up the room with her bright and refreshing energy. In her hotelier uniform, she flawlessly looks the part of King Hotel’s “Smile Queen,” making viewers feel as if they are guests at King the Land.

Actors Lee Jun-ho and Lim Yoon-ah predicted perfect chemistry and teamwork.

 

JTBC's new Saturday drama 'King the Land' (script by Rom Choi, directed by Hyun-wook Lim) unveiled the script reading site for the first time on the 27th. Leading actors, including Joo Yi Jun-ho and Lim Yoon-a, gathered in one place.

 

'King the Land' is the story of a man who despises laughter and a smile queen who must laugh at the VVIP business lounge, the dream of hoteliers. 

 

Lee Jun-ho took on the role of Gu-won, the heir to the King Group. Salvation is thrown into an inheritance war. Im Yoona plays the role of King Hotel's Smile Queen, 'Cheon Sarang'. 

 

Lee Jun-ho expressed his ambition, saying, "I will create a scene full of laughter." Im Yoon-ah also expressed her determination, saying, "I will work hard so that laughter can continue until the end of the filming."

 

On set, the strong synergy between Lee Jun-ho and Lim Yoon-a stood out. He gave a laugh with Tiki-Taka, which was seamlessly continued. It heralded the birth of a lovely romantic comedy.

 

Go Won-hee (played by Oh Pyeong-hwa) and Kim Ga-eun (played by Kang Da-eul) were also dazzling. She boasted of a deep friendship by uniting as the 'Three Musketeers of Worker Ants'. Ahn Se-ha (Roh Sang-sik) and Kim Jae-won (Lee Ro-un) also energized them.

“King the Land” has gifted viewers with photos from the script reading!

 

On April 27, JTBC released photos of “King the Land” cast members who gathered for the script reading. Director Im Hyun Wook, writer Choi Rom, 2PM’s Lee Junho, Girls’ Generation’s YoonA, Go Won Hee, Kim Ga Eun, Ahn Se Ha, Kim Jae Won, and more cast members were in attendance at the script reading.

 

“King the Land” is about a chaebol heir named Gu Won (Lee Junho) who cannot stand fake smiles. He meets Cheon Sa Rang (YoonA) who is always equipped with a bright smile even when she does not want to due to the nature of her profession, and together, the two set out to find happy days in which they can sincerely smile brightly together. Lee Junho purposefully conveyed his aspiration to “create a set full of laughter” in a flat and bland tone of voice, taking on the characteristics of his character Gu Won who despises laughter.

 

YoonA also expressed her determination, saying, “I will work hard so that this laughter can continue until the end of filming.”

 

 

The performances of Go Won Hee and Kim Ga Eun, who will be working closely with YoonA as King Group’s “Three Musketeers,” were also eye-catching. Go Won Hee plays Oh Pyeong Hwa, a flight attendant of King Air, whereas Kim Ga Eun transforms into Kang Da Eul, a wife and mother of a child who struggles between work and family.

 

 

Ahn Se Ha, who meets Lee Junho as colleagues in the drama, adds vibrance by portraying the exuberant character Noh Sang Sik. Kim Jae Won takes on the role of King Air’s handsome flight attendant Lee Ro Woon who will form a subtle romantic atmosphere with Go Won Hee’s character.

The newly released teaser gives the first sneak preview at the butterfly-inducing chemistry between Gu Won and Cheon Sa Rang. The text that reads, “The very pair you have been waiting for!” raises even more anticipation for the upcoming drama.

 

Similar to how they unexpectedly run into love, Gu Won and Cheon Sa Rang accidentally bump into each other, but Gu Won dashingly catches Cheon Sa Rang in his arms, making heart-fluttering eye contact. The teaser ends as Gu Won breathlessly states, “This is interesting.”

King the Land is an upcoming internationally licensed South Korean Netflix Original romantic comedy series directed by Im Hyun Wook (Reflection of You), and written by screenwriters Chun Sung Il (All of Us Are Dead) and Choi Rom.

When is the King the Land Netflix release date?

The release date for the first episode of King the Land has been revealed as Saturday, June 17th, 2023.

 

There will be a total of 16 episodes, which will be released twice a week with new episodes on Saturdays and Sundays until the series finale on August 6th, 2023.
