안녕하세요. 지혜의 숲 편집장 송승준 역을 맡고 있는 김석훈입니다. 이번에 시청자 여러분께 추천할 책을 선정하면서 고민 많이 했습니다. 극중에서 송승준의 입을 빌어 항상 책은 상품이 아닌 작품이라고 말해왔기에, 시청자 여러분께도 그만큼 좋은 책을 소개해드려야 했기 때문입니다. 

그러던 중, 촬영지인 푸른숲 출판사의 책장에 꽂혀 있는 수많은 책들을 하나씩 더듬어보다 이 책을 발견하고, 시청자 여러분께 반드시 소개해야겠다는 생각이 들어 이 자리에 가지고 나와 봅니다. 사람들 사이로 나가 그들과 함께 호흡하며 만들어졌다고 느낀 책, <이것은 왜 청춘이 아니란 말인가>입니다. 

‘20대와 함께 쓴 성장의 인문학’이라는 부제에 걸맞게 이 책은 지금 대한민국 20대로서 살아가고 있는 청춘들이 부딪히는 현실과 좌절, 그것을 극복하려는 노력을 생생하게 보여줍니다. 20대들 바로 곁에서, 그들과 끊임없이 대화를 시도하면서 말이죠. 

고등학교 졸업생들 중 열에 아홉은 대학에 진학하는 요즘, 대학생은 너무 흔한 직책이 되어버렸습니다. 예전처럼 그들을 지성인이라 여기는 시각도 없어졌고, 대학은 더 이상 지식과 학문을 논하는 상아탑의 지위를 잃어버린 지 오래죠. 초중고 12년을 대학을 바라보고 달렸던 아이들은 대학교에 들어가서도 쉬지 못하고 취직이라는 목표를 향해 뛰어야 합니다. 

그들은 인생에 단 한번뿐인 청춘에 누려야 할 것들을 누리지 못하고 살고 있는 거죠. 예전에 <88만원 세대>라는 책이 크게 이슈가 된 적이 있었습니다. <88만원 세대>가 외국에 비해 우리나라에서 더욱 두드러진 세대간 불균형이 20대들을 암울한 현실로 몰아가는 과정에 대해 이야기하고 있다면, <이것은 왜 청춘이 아니란 말인가>는 20대들이 세대간 불균형에 의해 몰린 그 ‘현실’을 상세히 보여주고 있는 책입니다. 

책은 세상을 보여주는 창이라고도 하지요. 그런 면에 있어서 이 책은 먼지 하나 없이 깨끗한 창의 역할을 톡톡히 해내고 있다 하겠습니다. 

물론 저는 청춘이라 불릴만한 나이는 아닙니다. 그런 제가 <이것은 왜 청춘이 아니란 말인가>를 읽고 그 안에 있는 ‘청춘’들의 현실에 관심을 가지게 된 것은 그들이 처한 현실의 문제가 우리 모두가 살아가는 사회의 문제와 직결되기 때문입니다. 

‘청춘’은 아니지만 청춘들의 ‘삼촌’으로서, 언젠가 청춘이 될 아기의 ‘아빠’가 될 사람으로서 이 책을 추천합니다. 시청자 여러분들도 이 책을 통해 지금도 고민에 빠져 있을 ‘청춘’들의 어깨를 토닥여 줄 기회를 가져보셨으면 합니다.

I think they are a perfect match for each other in terms of age, maturity, personality as well as look, not matter on or off-screen. Isn't it time for both of them to find a life-long companion as they are not young anymore? As far as I know, many die-hard fans (including Koreans) for both of them share the same view and hope they can date or marry in real life. What we see is that they don't seem to be playing their characters but acting out their true feelings for each other in this drama. Their interactions are so natural and harmonious that they seem acting for real.

As far as I know, KSH is a low-profile actor who doesn't like too much publicity and not wanting to be an idol-type of actor. He is very much into threatre and whenever he has time he will appear on the stage. He has done "The King and I" as well as Eugene O'Neill's "Long Day's Journey into Night" in the past.
