Cha In-pyo (D-Day) and Ra Mi-ran (Come Back, Ajusshi) are favorably considering playing a married couple in an upcoming weekend drama. The new KBS Saturday-Sunday show is called Laurel Tree Tailors, and is being marketed as a feel-good family drama about a household that runs a tailoring business for men’s suits.

If she signs on, this would be Ra Mi-ran’s third drama this year, after playing everyone’s favorite mom in Answer Me 1988 and then a funny afterlife guide in Come Back, Ajusshi. Cha In-pyo tends to play more serious characters (politicians, chaebols), so it should be interesting to see him headline a feel-good weekend show opposite someone as funny as Ra Mi-ran.

This new drama is brought to you by writer Gu Hyun-sook, who was behind weekend dramas Hundred Year Inheritance and Legendary Witch, and PD Hwang In-hyuk who directed political series Assembly and Myung-wol the Spy.

Laurel Tree Tailors is scheduled to follow Five Children on KBS when it finishes its run in August this year.

Lee Dong- gun considering KBS weekender Laurel Tree Tailors

Lee Dong-gun is heading back to television! …Maybe. News initially reported that he would star in a new KBS weekender, but his company, FNC Entertainment, quickly followed up with an official statement that he is just considering positively.

The project is a feel-good drama titled Laurel Tree Tailors, which is about a family running a tailor business. He would play the only son of the business, who’s the vice president of apparel. The character is a perfectionist with aristocratic looks and a sharp mind who doesn’t warm easily to people. With cold eyes and a cuttingly blunt, no-nonsense style, he values pride as much as life.

The character description seems to fit Lee Dong-gun’s image perfectly, and if he signs on, it would be his first drama in a year (he was in tvN’s Superdaddy Yeol in 2015) and first broadcast drama in three (KBS’s Mi-rae’s Choice in 2013).

Other names that have been floated for the drama include Cha In-pyo (D-Day) and Ra Mi-ran (Come Back, Ajusshi). They are currently favorably considering the show, in which they would play a married couple. That would be an interesting pairing, with his image as the classically handsome leading man hers as the sassy ajumma. Behind the scenes are PD Hwang In-hyuk (Assembly, Myung-wol the Spy) and writer Gu Hyun-sook (Hundred Year Inheritance, Legendary Witch).

@tikamacika  Confirmed right? Oooh the actors in this drama. Lee Don Gun. Cha In-Pyo.   Yes please! Like.  Not familiar of Ra-MiRan though. And this drama airing after After Five Enough?  which I consider gonna be one of my fav dramas of 2016. I hope this is good. Good directing and good writing. PD of Assembly? Cool! The writer of HYI? The noodle drama? I can't remember though. But  count me in here.:)

Cha In-pyo and Ra Mi-ran join 'Suited Gentlemen in Yanggye-dong' as a married couple

Cha In-pyo and Ra Mi-ranwill co-star as a married couple in KBS 2TV's new weekend drama, 'Suited Gentlemen in Yanggye-dong' slated for this August.

The drama production company Pan Entertainment has announced on June 30th, "Cha In-pyo and Ra Mi-ran have been cast as Bae Sam-do and Bok Seon-nyeo couple for 'Suited Gentlemen in Yanggye-dong'".

Cha In-pyo's character Bae Sam-do is a former tailor working for Wolgyesoo (Laurel Tree) Tailor, who used to be a renowned legendary genius tailor in his younger days, however, he is currently running a fried chicken restaurant. Although he is a manly man who regards loyalty as the top priority, he can't raise his voice in front of his wife.

Ra Mi-ran's character Bok Seon-nyeo is the co-owner of the chicken restaurant, who has the power and control over her husband. She may look like someone who is focused on money, but she is a righteous, responsible and warm-hearted person once you get to know her.

The production team said, "The couple will make the drama fans laugh and sob. They will bring the unprecedented entertainment and chemistry to the small screen" and "It is ok to anticipate a lot".

'Suited Gentlemen in Yanggye-dong' will be broadcast in August once "Five Children" has wrapped
