I'm really looking forward to the drama, but my only concern is the music. Nakata Yaskutaka composed a great collection of songs the Liar Game series, which really added my enjoyment to the series. I really hope the Korean version doesn't have ballad after ballad for the OST.

On October 3, actor Shin Sung Rok’s management agency released behind the scenes stills of Shin Sung Rok during his first filming for the upcoming tvNdrama, “Liar Game.” In the photos, he could be seen at a rock climbing set in athletic wear, hanging from the wall while the camera films him from behind.

“Liar Game” is a psychological thriller that sheds light on the human nature that becomes evident when confronted with the opportunity to win 10,000,000,000 KRW (approximately 10 million USD). Shin Sung Rok will play the role of the producer and MC of the reality show, Kang Do Young, who will possess the ability to make keen analyses on the game.

After the first filming, Shin Sung Rok commented, “I’ve always wanted to do a project of this genre and I’m happy that I will challenge myself with one through ‘Liar Game.’ I would like to show a different acting pattern than the one that I’ve shown [before], and I’ll try my best to express a more three dimensional character.”

Meanwhile, also starring in the drama are Lee Sang Yoon, Kim So Eun, andJo Jae Yoon among others. It will air its first episode after the ending of “My Secret Hotel” on October 20.

How is everybody? It is getting cooler/chilly in the morning and evening now. I hope none of you will catch a call. As you all know, I am now in the midst of shooting “Liar Game”. This is a manga-based production which was made into a great drama in Japan. The plot does not deviate too much from the original but there will be some Korean-style/elements added to this remake. For those of you who like the manga or who have watched the Japanese drama of this manga, you may think that I am not the right actor to play the role. I will try my best and work very hard. There are some who do not welcome the idea of me taking on this very different role/character but as an actor, this is an opportunity for me to expand my acting horizon and is necessary for me to advance in my acting career.

Although you get to see a very different side to me, it does not mean that what you have seen of me before is completely gone. Please don’t worry! This is all just acting and I myself have not changed! The drama this time is shorter than the usual. We, the cast and crew, have a very harmonious relationship, and enjoy the fun atmosphere while filming on set. I will work very hard for the remaining 7 to 8 weeks! Hope you will give us a lot of encouragement and support!

Lee Sang Yoon is no longer the “nation’s son-in-law.” In one photo he could be seen wearing a leather jacket and a dark expression, while in another he is wearing a prisoners’ uniform with a cold, black stare. The stills depict a complete change into the character of the youngest psychology professor turned genius swindler, Ha Woo Jin.

In both stills, Lee Sang Yoon looks like a man with a story, as he looks strong and charismatic with his lips pressed firmly closed and strong gaze. These stills anticipate this dramatic transformation from his character in “My Daughter Seo Young” as the gentle, sweet husband that every woman would want.

The production team commented, “In order to portray a completely new character than from his previous works, Lee Sang Yoon himself works the hardest in analyzing and interpreting the character. He shows his passion even on the set as he asks the opinions of the staff on set with regards to his acting, and this gets all of us going during the shoot.”

Meanwhile, “Liar Game” is based off of a Japanese manga of the same name written by Kaitani Shinobu. The story will revolve around the human nature of people when confronted with a large amount of money. It is set to be a psychological thriller that sets its foundation upon a reality show called the “Liar Game,” where victory can only be achieved through trickery and lies against the opponents. A young, innocent college student gets scammed as she enters the game, and asks the help of a professor turned swindler for help.
