JYH Confirms "COF", Returns to Small Screen

YOON EUN HYE, LEE DONG GUN AND JUNG YONG HWA CONFIRMED FOR “FUTURE’S CHOICE”

Posted by Clockwatcher on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 ·

Yoon Eun Hye, Lee Dong Gun and CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa have been confirmed as the leads in KBS 2′s upcoming drama Future’s Choice/Mi Rae’s Choice.  The drama is set in the broadcasting world.

Yoon Eun Hye plays the titular character, Mi Rae, a writer who goes back in time to stop herself from making certain choices. Lucky girl. Lee Dong Gun –  who’ll be returning to dramas after five years – will play charming announcer, Kim Shin. Jung Yong Hwa plays a VJ who’s the CEO’s grandson.

It’s written by Beethoven Virus‘s Hong Jin Ah and directed by Kwon Gye Hong of Crime Squad fame.

It’s hardly a shocker that this got confirmed. I’m not huge fan of any of these actors but I like them well enough and the premise is interesting. So come October, I’ll be watching it in the Mon/Tue Good Doctor time slot… the first episode, anyway.

Yun Eun Hye, Lee Dong Gun and Jung Yong Hwa have been confirmed as the leads of KBS′ upcoming drama The Choice of the Future.

The drama boasts not only an all-star cast but also an all-star staff, with screenwriter Hong Jin Ah ofBeethoven Virus and The King 2Hearts and producer Kwon Kye Hong of Bad Love and Detectives in Trouble pitching in.

The Choice of the Future will be a new type of time slip drama, having a woman who works as a screenwriter travel to the past to give advice to her past self. It will aim to cover the lives and love relations of producers, writers, announcers and broadcast journalists from a new viewpoint.

Yun Eun Hye will return to being a bright and lovely woman with her role of Na Mi Rae. Mi Rae used to lead a normal life as a call center agent, but one day she meets her future self and starts to realize her dream with new advice.

Lee Dong Gun will be returning to the small screen for the first time in five years since the 2008 dramaNight After Night. He′s been preparing to return to acting since March 2012 when he was released from the army.

DRAMA CASTING & NEWSTime-slip drama Mi-rae’s Choice confirms leadsby girlfriday | August 26, 2013 |

YoonEunHye_LeeDongGun2.jpg

Upcoming KBS time-slip drama Mi-rae’s Choice (or Future Choice, since the heroine’s name means “future,” of course) has finally secured its cast. Yoon Eun-hye (I Miss You) has signed on to play the time-traveling heroine, Lee Dong-gun (Smile Again, Lovers in Paris) will be making his army comeback in his first drama in five years, and Jung Yong-hwa (You’ve Fallen For Me) gives him a run for his money as the other leg of the love triangle.

The new fall Monday-Tuesday drama comes from writer Hong Jin-ah of The King 2 Heartsand Beethoven Virus, and the PD of Crime Squad and Bad Love. It’ll be set in the world of television broadcasting, and stars Yoon Eun-hye as a writer (named Na Mi-rae) who travels back in time to meet her past self on purpose to set about on a different course in life. Where’s the Bad Idea Fairy when you need her?

Rift in space-time continuum notwithstanding, I do like the idea of Yoon Eun-hye playing two totally different versions of a character, which will be as much fun as you can have without being in a makjang where you play your own evil twin. The character is described as a bright and lovable type who spends her days chanting to herself, “I’m okay!” She works as a desk drone at a large company’s call center and just kind of scrapes by in life. But one day her future self appears in front of her and starts her down a path to pursue the things she really wanted in life. It’s painted as an uplifting success story, so I’m thinking there will be minimum supernatural mythology — just enough to get the gimmick going.

This will be Lee Dong-gun’s first drama since 2008′s When Night Comes, and he’ll be playing the broadcaster’s lead announcer, a man who can be prickly, but is also a highly principled and upright. Jung Yong-hwa plays a VJ who went to film school in the States. But he’s also got a double life, because he’s actually the grandson of the broadcast network’s CEO, and is basically pulling an undercover boss move by playing a lowly cameraman when he’s set to inherit the entire station. He’s described as a smooth operator who dreams of building a media conglomerate that does everything from film to TV.

On paper the setup sounds an awful lot like Nine, but I think we can expect a more heroine-centric success story that happens to use time travel, rather than a story that hinges on it. The writer is one in the plus column for me, and well, any day that Yoon Eun-hye signs up for a drama that doesn’t make me want to spork my eyes out is a good day indeed.

Mi-rae’s Choice follows Good Doctor and airs in October on KBS.

Korean actors Yoon Eun-hye, Lee Dong-gun, and CNBLUE’s Jung Yonghwa have confirmed that they will team up in a new drama.

The three TV stars will take on new melodrama “The Choice of the Future” (translated title), set to premiere in October after Joo Won’s medical drama “Good Doctor” ends its run, the show’s promoter 3HW Com said through a press release on Tuesday.

The drama will be written by Hong Jin-ah of Jang Keun-suk’s “Beethoven Virus” and helmed by producer Kwon Kye-hong of “Detectives in Trouble,” the promoter added. The show’s first shoot will be in early September.

The drama will center on a son of a broadcasting company’s CEO and a girl who struggled her way up to become a television writer. As a time-slip story, the show will then head to when the girl from the future meets herself in her past to warn her not to meet the man in her present.

Yoon will be returning to the small screen for the first time in a year since MBC melodrama “Missing You” while Lee, who was discharged from the military last March, last made his television appearance in MBC drama “Night after Night” in 2008.

Jung is returning to the small screen for the first time in two years since his lead role in “Heart Strings,” starring starlet Park Shin-hye.
