K-pop idol Minho of SHINee on the filming set of his upcoming drama “Medical Top Team” (tentative title) [A Story]

 

K-pop group SHINee’s Minho has donned a white doctor’s gown and showed off his beauty for upcoming medical drama.

Minho unveiled his first filming session of new MBC series, tentatively titled “Medical Top Team,” in still images released through the drama’s promoter Y Tree Media Tuesday.

The idol star arrived early at the filming location of Seoul’s Severance Hospital, showing his enthusiasm for the role and the drama by approaching to his senior actors first and asking them for advice.

“I excitedly finished my first filming. I feel sorry that I didn’t show my best from my nervousness, but I’ll make further effort to learn more from now on,” the 21-year-old actor was quoted as saying.

In the star-studded medical drama co-starring Kwone Sang-woo, Ju Ji-hoon, Jung Rye-won and Oh Yeon-seo, Minho takes on good-natured thoracic surgery specialist Kim Seong-woo, who plays a pivotal role among the resident doctors who will go through a series of trouble in their work and love lives.

Directed by Kim Do-hoon of hit romance epic “Moon Embracing the Sun,” the new series will premiere on October 2 as the follow-up of Lee Joon-gi’s “Two Weeks.”

  Everyone probably expected Minho to look great in a doctor′s gown, but still his shining looks managed to surprise yet again.
  
  MBC′s Medical Top Team released stills from Minho′s recent first shoot for the drama.
  
  Minho appears in the drama as Kim Sung Woo, a sensitive and kind cardiothoractic surgeon.

  

  For the shoot, which took place at the Severance Hospital in Sinchon, Minho donned a doctor′s gown on top of an operating gown, perfecting his doctor look.
  
  The still is from a scene that will air in the first episode.
  
  On the day of the shoot, Minho had arrived earlier than anyone else, and approached his seniors first with polite greetings. He also asked for a lot of advice, showing his passion toward acting.

  

  Minho commented after the shoot, "Shooting wrapped with high expectations. I′m sorry I couldn′t show everything I prepared because I was nervous, but I′ll continue to work hard in the future. I′ll do my best to put together a great piece with my seniors, director and staff."
  
  Medical Top Team will delve into the issue of discrimination in the medical service, and have its characters clash over such issues.

Every medical team needs a cute doctor so the casting director for the upcoming medical drama "Medical Top Team" suggested SHINee's Minho. And he accepted the offer.

Choi Minho will join the drama about a team of doctors who are the top specialists in their respective fields. The medical team works together to solve cases but they are also caught in a power struggle at the hospital. They fight, fall in love and compete for choice hospital positions.

Minho will play Kim Sung Woo, a third-year resident. He is the youngest member of the medical team. His kind manner and flower boy good looks will endear him to the other doctors. He is especially kind to and protective of the character played by Oh Yeon So, a doctor with only two years of experience.

The singer, rapper, dancer and model has already appeared in a few dramas. He played the role of Oh Je Ro in the 2010 KBS drama "Pianist." He played Choi Min Hyuk in "Salamander Guru and the Shadows" and he starred as Kang Tae Joon in "To The Beautiful You."

Despite having achieved fame as a singer, Minho's first dream was acting. It was his dream before his debut but he was so busy practicing for his part in SHINee that acting had to wait. In an interview before he took his first leading role in "To the Beautiful You," he expressed his concerns about making the switch from singing to acting.

"I definitely feel the pressure of being an idol actor. I started with the knowledge that I wasn't qualified and it's especially hard when it's such a big role," said Minho. "I want to make sure that I leave a good impression and do a good job in order to get another project in the future."

When he was interviewed shortly after his role in "To The Beautiful You," he said he was not completely satisfied with his performance in that drama.

"My performance still lacked a lot," he said. "I want to show a different side of myself if I am given another chance."

And now he will have another chance to shine.

"I promise to learn a lot and mature as an actor," said Minho.

Minho joins a cast that already boasts Kwon Sang Woo, Jeong Ryeo Won and Ju Ji Hoon. Kwon Sang Woo of "Queen of Ambition" and 'Dae Mul" will play a genius surgeon. Jeong Ryeo Won, who appeared in "My Lovely Kim Sam Soon," will play a workaholic cardio thoracic doctor. Oh Yeon So will play a young inexperienced surgeon. Ju Ji Hoon of "Princess Hours" will play a smart doctor who wants to become the hospital's director.

The show premieres in October.
