i found this in allkpop it interesting.

Piggy Dolls made a loud entrance into the Korean music scene by headlining about their combined weight of 230kg. After performing their debut track, “Trend“, on various public music programs, their name immediately dominated portal search rankings and became a hot topic of interest.

At the center of their stage is the oldest member, Min Sun (19), who was blessed with a voice that comes from a family of musicians. She’s dreamed of becoming a singer ever since she was seven years old, as her grandfather was a specialist of the traditional pansori, and her father majored in vocal music.

The second oldest, Jiyeon (19), dreamt of becoming a singer ever since she she attended a concert of Park Hyoshin’s. Her father reportedly gave up his own dreams to be a singer due to his family’s disagreement, but fortunately for Jiyeon, she was spared the same discouragement.

Maknae Ji Eun (16), is a part of the ‘94 line with KARA’s Jiyoung, f(x)’s Sulli, and 4minute’s Sohyun. Despite starting off on the path of art, she found that her true passion lies in music. Ji Eun was able to realize her dream of debuting as a singer after only a year of attending music academies.

The trio has often been nicknamed as ‘the second Big Mama’ or ‘the second Bubble Sisters‘, but they explained, “We just wanted to give hope to people like us. There’s been an increase of youths dreaming of becoming singers, but there’s no law stating that one can only become a part of a girl group if you’re skinny and beautiful. We wanted to help people realize their dreams without being bogged down by the views of others.”

Just like how their lyrics state, ‘We are trend‘, the girls’ biggest weapon is their confidence, which also stem from the support they receive from their labelmate, Norazo.

When asked about their role models, the Piggy Girls immediately cited 2NE1.

“2NE1 are our role models. We want our performances to make people look forward to both our singing talents, and to our personalities as well. We would like to meet with the 2NE1 seniors and receive advice on how to enjoy the stage,” they claim.

They concluded, “Still, we’re disappointed in not being able to ‘break’ our debut stage. There’s a lot of things we haven’t been able to show yet, and if we received an opportunity to re-do our debut, I’m sure we could ‘break’ the stage then.”

Piggy Dolls deliver a phenomenal cover of “One Night Only” on ‘Sketchbook’

Although they’ve just debuted in the music industry, the Piggy Dolls are quickly being applauded as a sensation due to their strong charisma and undeniable talent.

This powerful vocalist trio made an appearance on “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” recently, and they impressed everyone in the house with their phenomenal cover of “One Night Only” from “Dreamgirls“.

Afterwards, MC Yoo Hee Yeol embarked on an in-depth interview with the girls. He began by confirming their ages, and was incredulous to discover that the maknae of the group, Park Ji Eun, was actually younger than IU.

The MC then asked if they were satisfied with their group name, the ‘Piggy Dolls’. Beaming, the girls solidly declared, “Yup! We like it a lot!” Yoo Hee Yeol wondered if their parents had minded the name, as he was sure that they would’ve preferred something more fitting for their beautiful daughters. Member Lee Jiyeon responded, “Actually, at first, my parents were quite worried. The concept is a little ‘plump’, and they were concerned that it would create a lot of anti-fans. But after our debut, both my mom and dad really liked it.”

Piggy Dolls discuss their name, hardships, and breaking stages

There’s no doubt that Piggy Dolls turned heads when  they debuted last month. While their Rubenesque figures certainly gained  headlines, it was their vocals talents which earned them the spotlight.

In an interview with E Daily, the girls were asked  the question many have been wondering about since they’ve debuted: How  did they feel about their name, ‘Piggy Dolls’?  Did they not think it  was degrading?

Leader Kim Min Sun replied, “It’s a name given  to us by our CEO. We thought the name was so cute at first, and felt  that it fit us well since all of us have that appearance. The name feels  like fate to us.”

It wasn’t easy for them to reach this point in their careers. Kim Min Sun first debuted by competing on Mnet’s “Superstar K“,  but she was unable to receive any attention because of her figure.  Auditions for the other two members were out of the question because  they were concerned about their looks.

Fortunately, their current agency reached out to them first,  reasoning that as long as they had the vocal talent, one’s appearance  did not matter at all.

The leader continued, “Whenever I said I wanted to sing when I  was little, everyone around me told me to lose weight. I was really hurt  by that, but luckily was able to meet our current agency. Ever since I  joined them, I’ve become a lot more confident as a person.  ‘I’m fat,  but I’m also a singer.’  I take pride in that.”

Despite the support from their agency, their parents weren’t so  willing to give in.  Most were concerned over the hardships their  daughters would have to face in an industry dominated by visual appeal.

Lee Ji Yeon explained, “They worried a lot,  mostly over us getting hated and garnering anti-fans.  They’re happy  about it now, though, and ask about what programs we’ll be appearing  on.”

Aside from their talent, the three have something else in common: they’re all from the same high school, Ahyun Polytechnic School, which is especially noted for its long list of celebrity alumni.

Kim Min Sun said, “Park Hyo Shin, Wheesung, Hwanhee, Navi, Bubble Sisters, No Brain, and B2ST’s Kikwang are all seniors of ours. We’ll be working hard to become like them.”

The girls also made light of the crude jokes circulating on the internet about how their combined weight could break the stage.

Park Ji Eun explained, “Our heels break by the end of each performance. We probably have a box full of heels that are broken.

Kim Min Sun added, “Recently, we jumped slightly on a stage which  caused the floor to cave in a bit.  Another singer even fell because  she tripped over it.”

To conclude the interview, they were asked about what they hoped to achieve with their careers.

The Piggy Dolls confidently replied that they wanted a second, or  even a third version of ‘Piggy Dolls’ to emerge so that the  narrow-minded standards of beauty could be shattered once and for all.

Love this performance by them! They changed the choreography and Minsun is dancing with the others all the way through instead of just at the end.
