[Oh!Focus] "The Royal Gambler" Jang Keun Suk and Yeo Jin Goo, why this drama attracted the attention of many?

Actors Jang Keun Suk and Yeo Jin Goo will return to home drama through SBS historical drama “Daebak”, this is their first time acting together, what is the reason for the great anticipation behind their collaboration?

“Daebak” which will broadcast on Mar 28 (writer Kwon Soon Gyu, PD Nam Gun) is the battle between Daegil (Jang Keun Suk), the forgotten son of the King, and his brother Prince Yeongjo (Yeo Jin Goo) encompassing victory and defeats, love and brotherhood etc, an imaginary historical drama with an exciting storyline. A unique theme, and a story with depth, integrating past era with a grand cast, attracting much attention even before it broadcast.

Among them, Jang Keun Suk, who returns to the drama screen after a 2-year gap, has gained much attention. Jang Keun Suk has acted in many dramas, is an actor who portrays his distinctive charm in his acting, which can be seen through historical dramas “Ladies of the Palace”, “The Great Ambition”, “Hwang Jini”, “Hong Gil-dong”. Especially in KBS “Hwang Jini” his role as “Eunho”, the innocent first love of Hwang Jini, through his untainted look and steady acting, brought about many good feedbacks on this sad beautiful love story. And the mellow “Prince Changhwi” in “Hong Gil-dong” – a role where he was able to reveal his charm.

With his influential gaze and deep voice, Jang Keun Suk is able to exude his potentials in the historical drama. His solid acting can captivate a wide viewership, what’s more special, this being his last drama before he gets enlisted, he hopes to give his best gathering all his past acting experiences, as such, it was after a long careful decision making process that he decided on taking this role. As such, many are raising the expectation for the show in view that he will play his role with conviction in “Daebak”.

Yeo Jin Goo who just turned 20, will be working together with Jang Keun Suk this time. In the drama, Yeo Jin Goo plays Prince Yeongjo who ascended the throne. He was born of the humble, the son of Suk Bin Choi (Yoon Jin Seo), being the son of the King, having been through various complicated situations in the Palace, where he became extremely cold.

This is the first role where Yeo Jin Goo is taking on the challenge acting as an adult. In his previous roles in various dramas, his excellent acting as a child actor has gained much attention, especially his role in “Moon Embracing the Sun”. Although just a child actor then, the love story with Kim Yoo Jung, Jin Goo’s profound acting heightened the charm of the character, gaining much popularity from the viewer.

Yeo Jin Goo, with his deep glances and voice, is an actor well suited for historical drama. During the photo-shooting for the drama poster, he showed the cold and aloof side of him, and throughout the drama filming, he will go through several transformation, worth the anticipation of everyone. One who never gives in despite severe hardship, living in a difficult environment since young, being forced to grow up, that’s Prince Yeongjo, we’ll see a different a Yeo Jin Goo from his past works. Being one step closer acting as an adult role, what kind of chemistry can we see between Yeo Jin Goo and Jang Keun Suk, really curious to find out!

I just came across this youtube video after watching I think - "Royal Gambler/Daebak" Teaser No. 4 , and the song - "The Melody We Make Together" seems to be one of the closing songs that Sukkie ends with in his concerts...I love the acoustic feel of  this version - and it is very quiet ...unlike his live concert version - where he slows down to catch his breath - then rips into it really fast and energetic with all dancers on stage and the whole arena/hall lit up ( I only know this from the dvds - not the real shows - unfortunately)!

Love this song - here is the acoustic video with a great picture selection of Jang Keun Suk in both the long hair (love it) and the short hair - originally posted by Minie Jang on Youtube:
