Hi kaciemom! Hope you're ok now. I do come back very once in a while, since I've been busy too. So many things to take care of and I started to pick up "Giant", Park Jin Hee's new drama. Sadly, the thread is also quiet, but the ratings are good.

Really? How nice! Is it being dubbed or subbed? Is it showing at a Korean network or just a US TV station?

It is shown on MBC channel. It is subbed. You know what, I am enjoying it for the 3rd/4th/who's counting. It gets better each time.

I see. You're lucky! I haven't been rewatching SMM, I wanted to give myself time to miss it before I start again. And I prefer to do marathon the next time I re-watch :)

@kelela: Yeah, Wang Bit Na is starring in a new drama too: Kim Suro. She looks stunning! As I planned to keep this thread updated with news of the casts, here I post the news on Wang Bit Na's news drama. And another thing to add, Lee Pil Mo (Sang Woo) is going to be in the same drama with WBN. I wonder if they'll be paired up.

Wang Bit-na joins Kim Suro as a Kaya spy

I know, there’s been a lot of promotional material coming out about MBC’s Kim Suro, but as the drama finally premieres this weekend, this’ll probably be the last of them. I just thought I’d share, since the photos are lovely and portray a wholly different look to Wang Bit-na than we saw in her most recent role as Bu-ki in The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry.

In Kim Suro, Wang plays Ah-ro, aunt of Ah-hyo (Kang Byul), and possesses outstanding martial arts skills. She uses her wiles and espionage skills to approach the man who currently holds control over the Kaya nation (played by Lee Won-jong), from whom she conspires with her niece to steal the technology of ironworking.

Her appearance as Ah-ro is a stark contrast to the awesomely stylin’ single-and-proud Bu-ki of The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry, although to be fair, her look as Bu-ki was actually a departure from her usual image, so perhaps this is closer to her regular look. Not the elaborate hanbok, of course, but without the sharply asymmetrical haircut.

In any case, Kim Suro premieres tomorrow, May 29.

News on Lee Pil Mo joining the casts of Kim Suro.

Cast additions to Kim Suro

May 5th, 2010 // by javabeans

leepilmo_22.jpg

Lee Pil-mo (The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry) is joining 3D historical series Kim Suro in his first villain’s role, playing an ambitious man who spends his life determined to cultivate ironworking technology. Lee sheds his warm, jokester image of previous roles, like last year’s Sons of Sol Pharmacy, which is the role that brought him to mainstream popularity.

Lee said about his character, “He’s not seeking ironworking technology just to achieve societal success, but because his character can’t help being obsessed with succeeding.” The character never knew his birth parents, and was raised by a healer. He realized early on in life that the best way for him to succeed in the world would be to cultivate ironworking skills, but was prevented from learning because of his low birth. He grows up alongside Kim Suro (Ji Sung), who later becomes king, and they spend their childhood like brothers. However, he later sides with Suro’s rival (played by Yoo Oh-sung).

I think this could be a good turn for him, because while I do like Lee Pil-mo, I can understand why some people find his constant joking around to be tiresome. He’s actually quite good at dramatic acting, and I think he’d relish playing the bad guy.

Meanwhile, the casting of newcomer Kang Byul (Creating Destiny) had been previously announced. I’m including her in this post because the above still has been released, which shows her in character as Ah-hyo, Suro’s first love. He later goes on to marry Seo Ji-hye’s character, a princess from a faraway land.

Kim Suro will air after A Man Called God later this month.

JinBum Fanarts credits all to ViELdA

She's scared to post these because of some fangirls.

Hoping that they will not haunt me, just what like they did to her! lol

There's an interesting article about the trend "Noona" on dramabeans. And The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry is mentioned. After all Kim Bum can not be missed in the "noona killer" category! :)

This is my first time posting! This drama is also my favorite k-drama since City Hall. I am a fan of Park Jin Hee and now am a fan of Kim Bum. I found he has great acting skills and can sing! Loved his version of Confession. The music was great as there were several songs I have come to love. So sad it is so underrated.

Does anyone know how it is being received in Japan?

I just finished watching it and I definitely love it. There were a lot of funny scenes and I really had a good laugh. Another addition to my favorite Korean dramas.

Oh how I love this series. I couldn't really get into it in the first few episodes, and now I'm hooked. I'm up to episode 15, almost all over.

Kim Bum and his adorable cuteness makes it all the more worthwhile to watch it. If only there were more cute playful guys around in reality.

Thanks to purplez for all the fantastic icons and wallpapers. You're helping to feed my obsession.

I do like how this series show some reality of life in Korea. Especially seen in Da Jung's case - wanting to marry a man of the same age, but being criticised for apparently being too 'old' and how Ban Seok's father wanted someone younger and someone who wasn't a working woman. Da Jung (though crazy) is a career woman, in a fantastic job and finally has found her soul mate. But even after marriage she has to tolerate so much.

I've often wished to marry a Korean guy, but seeing some of the traditional values (family wanting someone from what appears to be the same 'class' to make a match for their children), it makes me have second thoughts. This is the first drama I've seen where the double standard comes out (men being able to date women much too young for them, while tossing aside women of their own age, and then criticising a woman for dating a younger man, when they do much worse!). It's an interesting insight to say the least, I feel for the Korean women in Korea. If I were to marry a Korean guy, I would ensure he had modern values and valued a woman's independence.

EDIT: watching parts with Da Jung and Ban Seok makes me really think twice about marrying... like Da Jung I've only thought about finding someone who I can spend the latter part of my life with, so I won't be alone and there would be company along the way. But of course, we pretend to ignore the fact that you are marrying into the guy's family and must deal with the in-laws. I don't think Da Jung should tolerate such behaviour from her sister-in-law, but then is it just the traditional values and ways of living of Koreans... or is that sometimes just how it is in real life too? As in difficult to deal with in-laws... omo

Great series, I'm glad I stuck with it! :D
