‘Queen of Tears’ claims No. 3 on Netflix’s non-English TV show chart

 

 

The South Korean romantic series “Queen of Tears” soared to No.3 on Netflix’s latest chart for non-English TV shows.

 

The tvN drama, starring Kim Ji-won and Kim Soo-hyun, was the third most-watched non-English TV show for the week of March 11-17, with 22.4 million viewing hours, rising four places from the previous week.

 

Since its third day of streaming, the drama has been retaining the top position on Netflix’s weekly viewership chart for TV shows in Japan, except for a day, according to analytics company FlixPatrol.

 

The 16-part drama is acclaimed for its exceptional cast and their chemistry on Japan’s largest content review website, Filmarks, achieving 4.3 stars out of five. Its score closely follows the 4.5 stars of the Korean drama “Crash Landing on You.”

 

“Queen of Tears” drew significant attention from Japanese fans even before its airing, being penned by the same writer as the Korean hit series “Crash Landing on You.”

 

The series continues to break its own highest viewership rating each week, with the latest episode receiving a record of 13 percent nationwide.

 

The latest report from FUNdex, the official K-content research firm, revealed that “Queen of Tears” topped the TV-OTT category for Most Buzzworthy drama, with Kim Ji-won and Kim Soo-hyun claiming the No.1 and No.2 spots respectively in the actor rankings.

 

The Saturday-Sunday series depicts the journey of a high-profile couple who rediscovers their love amidst a marital crisis. Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun), a scion of a rural village supermarket, has been married for three years to Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won), the third-generation heiress running Queens Department Store.

 

The drama is aired on cable channel tvN, as well as online streaming services Tving and Netflix.

*** Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won undeniable chemistry has been a key factor in the drama’s success. And.....Kim Soo Hyun surely can act! His acting is so always impactful no matter what character her plays. He's at a position where he does not need to do a project every year to maintain his status. But, of course I want to see him in my screen as much as possible. He's very picky with his projects and he has always been like that ever since. He chooses quality over quantity and it shows. His talent is undeniable. He never had a bad performance, always excellent in his performances. Now, in case he accepts this new drama offer, it does look like he's back to working full time now. He has done so well for himself and I'm so proud of him. Making a scene work beyond the script, that's the classy part about Kim Soo Hyun. The man knows his art!  and I adore him!
