No Regret 후회하지 않아

Directed by: Leesong Hee-il

Starring: Lee Young-hun, Lee Han, Jo Hyun-cheol, Kim Dong-wook, Jeong Seung-gil, Lee Seung-won, Hwang Chun-ha, Kim Jeong-hwa

Release date: November 16, 2006 (South Korea)

Summary: A male escort starts to become involved with one of his wealthy clients.

I absolutely loved No Regret. The ending was a bit strange, but I really loved the whole movie. So dramatic! Haha. They took it out of youtube, right? But I think it can be watched in crunchyroll.

I'm really looking forward to Boy Meets Boy! Does anyone know when it comes out? I hope it turns out well and doesn't suck. ^_^

And wow, thank you so much for making this thread! I'm betting a lot of these are good movies. :) And it's good that there are films like these especially in Asia where homosexuality isn't as 'out there' like in some Western countries. I hope that Asia (especially Korea!) would be more accepting of gay people, love doesn't discriminate! :P

Sometimes homosexual films give you a more open mind.

I really didn't accept gay marriage before, and I have to admit I really didn't have an open mind to them when I was younger.

I guess I wasn't different too with that thought, because of course young kids think it's wierd, right?

But when I saw Brokeback Mountain it opened my mind to the fact that gay people could love just as beautifully as a hetrosexual couple.

I'm happy asian media is opening up and becoming my broad-minded.

for anime/manga, there's also Loveless.

o__o

^loveless made me laugh a bit and then giggle. The whole seme-uke roles were very apparent even though the story isnt entirely focused on shounen-ai :D

I've actually seen a lot of the films/dramas/anime listed on the front page (there are actually plenty of more titles that haven't been added, but should =D). I think Gravitation was what made me accept the genre (lack of a better word), and eventually love it. Like people have said before, the storylines of these films, dramas, etc. really do give you a more open mind, and the plot & character developments are very complex and gripping. I'd have to say the development of homosexual relationships in films/dramas these days fascinate me more so than straight ones. Probably because the complexity and "controversial (if you will)" nature of them. It really makes you wonder if they'll stay together or not, kind of like a forbidden love.

I also have seen a lot of those listed in the first post, some are pretty good. Im also watching Last Friends right now.

I have nothin against lesbians/gays but almost every movie I wanna watch now is about gay/lesbian (i didnt know it till i finished watchin at least 1 ep -__-) Sigh I guess it's good for them and how society is becoming more accepting, but honestly i just cant really relate to the movie or the character x.x so yea unlike the above poster these movies don't fascinate me but get boring after a while.

you can watch Ai no Kotodama (愛の言霊 )'Words of Devotion' (English manga title) at youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIE9dAt7ec8...feature=related

it's English subbed.

I really hope Boy Meets Boy and Frozen Flower end up on youtube too-- I'm waiting to see how people react to both movies, especially Frozen Flower.

I read a ton of interviews and articles about King's Man after if came out (many posted in Junki's thread), and a lot of people said they went into the movie feeling one way--and came out with more understanding...so I do think the movie--even though absolutely nothing very physical happened**--changed some minds about homosexuality. With the movies that have been made and released--like No Regret, and now these...maybe it will help some more.

___________

**

I read that in Yi, the play King's Man was based on--Jansaeng and Gonggil did kiss...don't know about anything else I also know when the actor playing the king kissed him--he was totally suprised--he didn't know it was going to happen.

I know the cast went to see the play, but haven't really read why the director and writer decided not to do it it exactly the same way. The movie was intense enough the way it was because it was so subtle.

I have no idea why, but I prefer western 'gay' movies/shows? I've never been able to watch many Asian ones the whole way through.

Though I have seen The King and the Clown which.. isn't strictly set on the gay aspect. I've also seen Formula 17 which is alright. Those are the two movies I've managed to get through.

If i'm not wrong, there's Homosexuality Drama Series in America too.

Like Queer as Folk (Gay Drama)

and The L Word (Lesbian Drama), it was so popular that there's season 1-5.

Oh, god, Queer As Folk. Yes, please. Both the UK and US versions (though I enjoy the US version a lot more) are great. I would recommend it to anyone who's interested. Though there is a lot of gay sex ( I say that as if it's a bad thing). But overall, a great show with a great story.

I've also got Shelter on my comp but I haven't been able to get around to watching it, yet. I will, soon..

wow, you have quite a list.

I've recently just watched Farewell, My Concubine, have been meaning to for a long time and finally did it.

so glad that i did, b/t it was a PHENOMENAL movie.

it was so rich with all sorts of emotions.

people compare the King and the Clown with Farewell, My Concubine. I don't think the two really compares.

King and Clown trailer really shocked me in a good way and made me crave to watch the movie,

but the actual movie was disappointing.

Concubine on the other hand was fulfilling in so many ways.

Leslie Cheung is just simply amazing. He's easily one of my most favorite Chinese actors.

and now i really want to watch Happy Together.

P.S.

my story of watching the Wedding Banquet was quite funny.

i think my family was just bored one day and went to blockbusters.

my mom was desperate for Chinese films, and so she saw this, and grabbed it w/o knowing what it's about.

i think they were quite shocked to see the actual content. my family is a little on the traditional side.

though i enjoyed it a lot.

I love the dad. he's just so cool in so many ways.

btw, i don't appreciate the turn to melodrama, sappy, idealized turn for gay films/dramas as much. It just doesn't have the same affect on me as an audience.

I did enjoy Love of Siam, but more b/c of the music, the cute people, and the trials of the family. The relationship b/t the 2 boys was sweet, but it doesn't have the same effect on me. It was more of like an "awwww..." than an "omg! i'm sensing this profound change in myself"

but i do wanna watch Bangkok Love Story. It looks really good.
