Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo will be starring in a new drama together!

On April 29, it was officially announced that Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo will star in the new drama “Project Y” (working title).

“Project Y” is a noir drama set in Seoul’s Gangnam district that follows the daring ambition of two friends of the same age to steal 8 billion won (approximately $5.8 million) worth of gold bars and vanish without a trace.

Notably, Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo, who share the same age in real life, are expected to also showcase their chemistry and womance in their roles as same-age friends in the series.

The series will be helmed by director Lee Hwan, known for igniting fervent discussions within the Korean film industry with his bold themes and dynamic directorial approach in films like “Park Hwa Young” and “Young Adult Matters.”

South Korean actresses Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo have been roped in for a new noir drama tentatively titled Project Y. This will be the first time that the two have joined hands for a series. Han So-hee is known for films and TV shows like Nevertheless, Gyeongseong Creature, Nevertheless, The World Of The Married, and 100 Days My Prince among others. Meanwhile, Jeon Jong-seo is noted for his performances in movies and shoes such as Burning, Ballerina, Call, Nothing Serious and Wedding Impossible.

According to a report by Soompi, Project Y’s cast announcement was finalised on Apil 29. The story will give viewers an insight into the lives of two female friends. Set against the backdrop of the Gangnam district in Seoul, Project Y will show the two friends embarking on a dangerous heist. They plan on robbing a hefty sum of 8 billion (Rs 800 crore) worth of gold bars. After several obstacles when their job is executed minus any error, Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo’s yet-to-be-revealed on-screen characters plan on vanishing from the town without any trace.

Both Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo are 29 years old, similar to the age shown in Project Y. The upcoming series is expected to be a nail-biting watch with a strong sense of friendship between the two female protagonists. Project Y is directed by Young Adult Matters and Park Hwa Young fame Lee Hwan. The director famously weaves dynamic elements and bold themes into his narratives, sparking discussions in the Korean entertainment industry, claims Soompi. Presumably, Lee Hwan might incorporate these factors in Project Y too.

Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo will be leading the much-awaited noir drama Project Y which is expected to initiate filming in the second half of 2024. Han So Hee is known for her roles in dramas like Nevertheless and Gyeongseong Creature. Jeon Jong Seo has been featured in the critically acclaimed film Buring and and the ongoing romance comedy Wedding Impossible. 

 

Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo will be taking on the main roles in the upcoming Project Y. The drama is set in Gangnam and tells the story of two friends who steal 8 billion won worth of gold and go untraced. It explores the friendship between the two women. 

The project is being directed by Lee Hwan who is also known for Park Hwa Young and Young Adult Matters. The drama is scheduled to start filming in the second half of 2024.

 

Han So Hee debuted in 2017 with the drama Reunited Worlds. She is known for dramas like 100 Days My Prince, The World of the Married, Nevertheless and more. Her latest drama was Gyeongseong Creature. The actress will be taking on the lead role in the drama Dotgabi which is a fantasy action. Her LGBTQ+ film Heavy Snow is also scheduled to release soon. Han So Hee was involved in a dating scandal involving Ryu Jun Yeol. The two announced their breakup within a few weeks of making their relationship public. 

 

Jeon Jong Seo made her debut in 2018 with the hit film Burning. Her first appearance in a drama was with Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area - Part 1 and Part 2. She took the lead in the 2022 drama Bargain. The actor will also be appearing in the main role in the upcoming 2024 historical drama Queen Woo.

On April 29, the production company Climax Studio announced that actresses Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo have been cast as the leads in Project Y, with director Lee Hwan taking the helm.

Project Y (working title) is a noir drama about two friends with an ambition to steal 8 billion won worth of gold bars in Gangnam, Seoul. 

Interestingly, the two actresses are of the same age in real life and will play the young friends in the drama. Expectations rise for their charm, character, and sismance. 

The production is undertaken by Climax Studio, known for producing high-quality works such as Netflix series Hellbound, D.P., Parasyte: The Grey, and K-movies like Concrete Utopia and Soulmate, as well as WOW POINT, a global content production company that has produced series like The Bequeathed and Parasyte: The Grey. 

With the announcement of Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo's casting, Project Y is gearing up for full-scale production preparation. It aims to start filming in the latter half of 2024.
