End of EP 10 --- there have been many great posts that have already discussed the scene between HJ JH and HJ making it basically clear - that a relationship that is not a two way street in which each partner shares their thoughts and problems and support each other -- Is not a relationship she will be in.

Therefore, I will focus briefly on why I think it is so important to HJ to have a relationship that is fully open and with honest two way communications.  Just like the death threat uttered by JH at end of EP 9 had me revisit my past thoughts about JH - this EP 10 ending is having me revisit HJ past.

EP 1 @48 minutes - Grandmother says to HJ --"You lost your mother.  What kind of mother is that?  What is so important about a man.  She ended her relationship with her parents to have a daughter in college.  She lost her husband and her mind.  Your mother was a loser.

EP 7 beginning - HJ sits outside and listens to her parents scream at each other - basically-- mothers says I known you were with that women last night - father denies and says way can't you trust me-plates crash mother says if you leave I will die-Father says go ahead and leaves - gives HJ a hateful look.

Only limited info so far on HJ Mother Father relationship- so from this point on total conjecture ---

EP 1,7 tells me, at least, that HJ Mother was passionately in love with the Father to the point that she gave up so much to be with him.  That to think she would loss him drove to act in a crazy manner -- At this point I do not recall that we really know how she died - but the little info given seemed to point to taking her own life, but still unknown, unless I missed a critical scene.  At this point there is nothing I recall on how the father felt about the mother -did he also love her?  

The father denied during the screaming match to having any outside of marriage affair.  WHAT IF - he was telling the truth -- That it was all a misunderstanding that their lack of open honest communication kept the mother from understanding what and why he was doing what he was doing, that he was hiding a major work, money or some other  currently unknown problem from her and this lead to their breakup and her death.  THEN what if HJ later find out this was the problem.

HJ said she fears love, it only ends in death - Yet HJ is beginning to open up to love because of JH -- But then discovered that JH will not share his problems with her - lack of honest open two way communication on his part -- Just like her father to her mother-- HJ has seen through her mother that a love no matter how great and strong can only end in disaster when one partner hides information from the other - she was willing to give Love a chance, but will never be with a man who hides things from her- she will not be her mother.

JH better understand how serious his keeping his problems from her is or he has lost her forever.  

Only future episodes will, if the writer wishes, give us more information on the real reason(s) for her parents breakup and her mothers death.

HJ #1 Kdrama Heroine--IMO Yes

@evie7 I fully agree with your post on page 505--HJ is now also my #1 Kdrama heroine- Rather then just agree-since I find HJ such a great heroine - I will add some of my thoughts.

@evie7As you basically stated in your post - a heroine who communicates her feelings, leaves no room for misunderstanding and tells JH exactly how she feels.  -----To me, even being from Mars- these are the hallmarks of a great 21st Century Heroine. -- PS -she is also a great street fighter-icing on the cake for me - awaiting more scenes of her street fighting skills.

I also liked how HJ also made it clear to YD that there was no room for a romance between them, if she had thoughts of romance it would be JH.  She did this as she does everything-when a situation occurs, she acts, no hesitation, straight forward and clear, be it in words or actions.  This is what makes her number 1 on my list of wonderful Kdrama heroines.
-- Is facing a problem straight on, without hesitation always the best method - Not always- sometimes you need to weigh out the possibility of consequence and try to reduce any negatives to extent possible then act(JH goes overboard on overthinking along this line).  But HJ method, while slightly flawed, is still so much better then other heroines who tend to dither dither dither, as problem/miscommunication get bigger and just spins out of control.  
---HJ JH will both have growth in coming episodes to balance out how they approach problems.

HJ was added to my list of great heroines, within the first minutes of episode 1 and her actions in episode 10 solidified her #1 position.
-- EP 1--newly arrived at hospital, she enters the ER and is immediately confronted by an ER (which is a place in which time is critical in the first moments of care for people hurt) which has come to a complete standstill. 
--- She quickly analysis the reason- gangsters trying to take over and stop everything to get the doctors focused on their boss only- this of course is counter effective, as one does not do there best when in fear and an ER needs doctors that are confident, not ones in fear of their life.
--- HJ immediately stops one gangster from hitting a doctor, while also establishing her authority as a ranking doctor/surgeon- tells the gangster minions to leave the ER she will herself attend to their boss- this results in the boss telling them to get her out of the ER- HJ rightfully must now first establish her authority if the ER is to get back to functioning as it should and proceeds to physically show the gangsters who is in charge of this ER.  

Now time to back read 9 pages- this thread may need its own doctor for being so active, how can it never rest- 
Active forum clearly the sign of a great drama.

EP 10 HJ SH - Anytime they are together in scenes it is always great- what a wonderful friendship, made even better by knowing and having viewed, how it was forged during such a devastating, emotionally painful period in HJs life.

SH Love line - halfway through the drama and still no obvious connection - many hoped for SC, but that seems to be a dead end now.  Next up appears to be PYK, SH is interested in him and while I stated in an early post I did not feel he was a good match for SH, I also accepted that if writer goes that way I would likely support it.  

Since SH likes PYK, then OK-- I can see some drama going that way -SW losing another friend to team HJ (SH) because of her own actions-he is already seeming to start to see SW bad side and if she continues down her current path, I could see him backing off from her-perhaps this will be her "wake up" call to lose yet another and in his case, a friend of many years because of her attitude/actions.

But still, except for SH stating she likes PYK-not a lot movement towards a SH PYK relationship yet-- of course it could speed up in next episodes- still have 10 to go.

Therefore, and I really hesitate as a write this likely to be "panned" post- could it be a SH AJD connection - ----
-They have interacted twice so far, both funny scenes, and SH has shown that she is not thrilled by AJD physical appearance.  
- AJD is a nice, friendly guy, gets along with both the other residents and the nursing staff, he is smart (the fact he is a resident in a prestigious hospital shows that), he seems very caring, (made sure supplies were on hand to take care of CKS aka puppy inevitable passing out at the staff gathering.)
-But clearly he is not your standard Kdrama good looking guy--
-AND that maybe just the "shake up" this drama wants to show.  After all, SH saw past HJ outer tough girl shell to the real warm HJ - she is just the one who, if the writer goes that way, could also see past AJD outer appearance -- 
--interesting concept, I would support - others dramas have recently pushed the supposedly less then beautiful heroine love story - I say supposedly, because no matter how much they tried, the heroine was undoubtedly beautiful under her wig, frizzy hair, drab ill fitting clothing, or other methods tried to make her less beautiful.  
----Note- I have viewed a number of the recent dramas with this concept and have found them enjoyable with a good message.

But I will not be surprised if the drama goes the safe standard way-SH PYK (or some yet unknown character)

Just completed EP 10 subbed - Glad to hear ratings are at least holding in the 19 range --agree with other posts that this now looks like the core audience - but that still is great for this station, they must be happy.  Since the love and growth storylines continue strong, I think they will hold the core audience -- I feel brining back the gangster boss and his minions could push it over 20- the next set of episodes in which HJ facing the disciplinary board is likely to be shown - is an excellent setup/time for their return.  A  just imagined by JH competition between gangster boss and him for HJ would be interesting (at this point I can not think of JH having any real competition) - 
BUT most importantly have HJ in a fight scene however the writer sets it up-  a preview with HJ back in action-would surely push that episode over 20.    My thoughts, while also thinking about episode 10 events

@stroppyse   -Appreciate your taking the time to read my post and responding (top of pg 489 for view of both our posts.)

Sadly, it seems my words in paragraph 2 of my post did not make it clear , that I realize JH death threat was an emotional response based on his fear for his adopted fathers life during the surgery -- So let me now make it clear,  - Had his father died during the surgery I do not think that JH would then actually kill YD.

My posting point was that I think JH does have within himself, but currently keeps buried, the will and desire to fight back,  but for now as long as actions/events only effect him directly and not those he loves/cares for he prefers for reasons, we may see more of in flashbacks, to flee not fight- no conflict be happy mode he is currently still trying to hold onto, but to me it is less and less successful for him.   To me JH is no longer a goody goody nice guy, who will Aways turn the other cheek-he has his dark/realistic side that will punch someone's lights out if they really mess with him! But holds it under control.  The  writers choice to have JH utter a death threat, seems to me to be more then just to show he is human- less drastic words or actions could have shown the same thing.  Therefore, I am looking forward to JH taking on SW Father and Grandfather side by side with HJ when she finally gets proof of SW father cover up and both of them also fighting back to protect his adopted fathers hospital from becoming nothing more the a money making machine.

-- EP 9 JH student flashback - bully has beat up on him, basically because he is an orphan - But JH has had enough and at the bullies next punch, JH physically restrains him from landing that punch - I (perhaps because I wish to) see a quick flash in which JH is a second away from going full out HJ on him-but in fact he immediately goes meek again and tries to defuse the conflict verbally.

Great drama, great forum- see the same scene, but have different POV on the meaning.  Looking forward to EP 10 with subs

EP 9 Ending --- JH threat to kill YD if his fathers surgery does not go well --

Need to back read other posts -- But I find this threat by JH disturbing and  out of character with the JH I  had previously formed an opinion of --  Particularly, when made by one surgeon to another and both know no operation is without risk--  it has made me re-think, the prior scenes of jealous JH (SC with HJ).

I do understand the extreme emotional pressure/fear he felt at that time - so I should cut him some slack, for this outburst -- and I am very willing to do so-- however, I will nevertheless, post away-since I think this could be a first hint, that JH is not the total goody goody nice guy the writer has shown me up to that point -- could just be the writer letting us known JH is just as human as the rest of us as HJ said in her soliloquy  and that is the end of it OR it could be setting up to go a little darker/more realistic on JH- opening up a need for HJ to also help him be better and more comfortable with himself as a whole person with human flaws.

Will look forward to how the writer moves forward - as with the drama so far, I am sure the writer will continue giving us a great love/growth story.  This darker side of JH, if it is the case, means SW father and Grandfather are about to wake up a sleeping righteous giant - I would like to see that play out.

Will be as brief as possible with supporting thoughts--since his threat might be nothing but a passing moment.

JH re-think - is he the calm always nice guy OR a man who fights to keep his tendency to strike out in fury (at those who disturbed his preferred orderly, calm, peaceful life) buried.  JH now seems to me to work under "flight or fight" mode when "his world" is disturbed - he will choice flight if it is only him affected, BUT if it involves someone who he love he will likely fight with gloves off.
- His first reaction to HJ request to discover what happened to her grandmother, is to basically tell her to forget and start to live her life in peace/happiness (just as he does to avoid conflict (flight)) - but he did help her, JH baby step from flight to fight-HJ is already changing him
- but we now (EP 9) see how he reacts when faced with his much loved adopted father facing death in surgery - 

-His show of jealousy when he saw HJ SC being close-throwing, kicking, yelling in his office - at the time I thought OK-- being from Mars myself, I thought that was a gender appropriate response.  But, now think back to the flash of a look he had and wonder how angry he could have gotten if after saving SC, he thought SC was single again and ready to move in on HJ.

Great drama with something new to think about with each episode- that changes my perception of past episode scenes and re- focuses on how I think drama will move forward.

HJ YD Similarities - just a brief overview while waiting for Monday-- 

--thought this posted last night, but this morning see it did not.  Will post now, off to gym, then return to back read all the inputs made over last hours.

Both have built protective walls to shield their core sweet, caring inner personalities --from being hurt in HJ case or from hurting others in YD case.  

Both have painful memories caused by their fathers --HJ has been emotionally hurt and scared by the father she loved and who should have, but most certainly did not protect her.  YD grew up feeling guilty, as he watched his father hurt the many women is his life through his consistent cheating.

HJ wall is built of reinforced concrete, it is solid, hard to breach - YD wall is built with painted over balsa wood, looks strong, but easily breached when he meets someone who he sees as sharing a sad history/backstory.
-- As a result HJ fears love will again hurt her -- YD fears that he will be like his father and hurt any woman he loves and loves him- but he is open to trying with the right woman,
-- HJ wall while difficult to breach - can and has been done by those (SH SC JH) who show by their actions that they truly care for her, wish only the best for her and will give her that support no matter how hard she tries to turn it down - they ask nothing in return for giving their support, they are selfless in their support/love of her(be it friend SH SC or potential lover Past friend JH).  YD wall easily breached when he meets a woman with a sad history/back story- he wants to help them mend/find happiness, something he could not accomplish for his mother who was hurt by his father.
YD NOTE - While I have no basis in story so far - I strongly feel that YDs past relationships ended, not because of his actions, BUT because of his fathers interference - this interference very likely behind YDs back and unknown to him.

Look forward to seeing how both HJ YD grow to the point they themselves take action to dismantle their walls.

Since SH's parents seem to pay attention to reputation aso, I can't imagine that they would allow their daughter to stay close to such a person. Moreover, SH and her father said that he wanted to send her to Canada which he didn't do in the end. In my opinion, JH must have intervened here and explained why it was so important for SH and HJ to stay together. Since JH is the son of a Chairman, they thought that this could help them somehow and accepted the friendship between SH and HJ. Because HJ studied so well, they notice that JH had been right with his points and their daughter took some benefit from it.

Another clue could be the argument between In Joo and JH in the States, when she told him that he was unethical. Maybe she discovered that he had been helping her all along and that's why she got mad at him. She had told him, she would help her but she discovered that he hadn't listened to her.

The finale question is: how did he help? I believe, he must have asked for KTH's help, since he was in the USA. KTH seems so close to him, and even if he acted as surprised when he heard that both were his ex-students, this could have been a lie. KTH hired her, just before JH came back from the USA. In my opinion, JH waited until she had gained a certain reputation in her field to come back to SK. 

We know for sure that HJ intended to pass the GED and try to get a scholarship. In my opinion, that's how he could locate her (passing the GED) and he must have set things in motion so that she could have access to a scholarship. Interesting is that she got a high position in her former hospital which could be a clue that she had some support and she is not aware of it. 

So yes, this could be a reason why HJ gets upset, when she discovers JH had been helping her all along... because she was so proud of her achievement. On the other hand, she should realise that he only helped her to gain some support and she did the hard work. People might have misjudged based on her school file therefore he needed to help her here. Her intelligence and determination were the real reasons why she succeeded. JH might have helped her so that she can get a chance and not be dismissed due to her past.

@lclarakl Even if JH and HJ felt something in the lab room, both denied it and tried to overlook it. Moreover, HJ's love for JH was more innocent in my opinion. She didn't think, she would love him as a man... she had no experience from my point of view. Besides, she had never loved any person like that before. She loved her grandmother (she is her relative) and her friend SH... but we can see that SC became a very close friend, like his brother. So there was love and she knew it, but she couldn't say what kind of love it was. Avoiding each other was not admitting that they felt guilty, like they said, it was to stop the gossip and protect each other's reputation.    

 @bebebisous33  Good day--Totally Agree with your posted reasons,  in response to my post, for JH (if he did, and I do think he did) to have played the "Daddy Long Legs" role in HJ life.

I am hoping that by the time HJ becomes aware of this (and she will, if it happened) that she has already accepted JH love and become to understand that receiving protection and help (JH has made this point to her already a number of times) is one part of how of one shows love to another.

Again, I think the reveal of JH "Daddy Long Legs" role will result in at the least a relationship slow down and more likely in a actual break up-- this break up will be quickly resolved as HJ comes to understand JHs motive was not pity but it was Love.

While waiting for Monday and the next great Doctors episode -- 

Possible, future HJ JH relationship conflict point - leading to a, hopefully short, breakup period.

A re-look at JHs statement to HJ as they are in the scrub room preparing for their first surgery together (Mid way EP 4)----"I looked for you every time I came to Korea".
This statement (DF English subs) seems to imply that JH for 13 years could never find HJ.
As we reach Drama mid point and more backstory is being revealed through flashbacks - I hope the writer will provide backup for this statement OR it may turn out to be a throw away line to generate interest at the time and that is the end of it-- will wait to see how it goes.

This statement of JHs has stayed in the back of my mind -as it does not seem to match the JH we see in the drama to date.
--The JH we see is smart, capable, knows how to accomplish research (a skill ever Doctor must have to stay current) and is totally honest and upfront with HJ.  JH is from a wealthy family, is very personable and therefore would be expected to have made many friends in High School and University who he could reach out to in many different professional fields that could, if asked, help him locate HJ.
---- CKS aka the puppy - was very quickly able, through the Internet locate a great deal of info on HJ background as a successful doctor/surgeon - info he located did not just within the last week/month get loaded--it covered what must be a(?) number of years.--Phone and Internet connections are available between USA and SK.

--YET JH statement to HJ is worded in a way to imply he looked but could not locate HJ.

THEREFORE
- JH is less capable then we think or he never looked- if he never tried to find HJ then why this statement 
SO
- I must come to the conclusion that he looked and found out about HJ - this would mean JH is in fact capable of hiding information and misleading HJ.
THEN WHY
- As other posted, when discussions were heavy on this subject -- has JH been playing a "Daddy Long Leg" role in HJ life.

IF YES
- Then isn't that very sweet and caring of him - but then again it also shows he is not as totally up front with HJ as at least I thought

HJ is a proud, hard working woman, who takes pride in having accomplished her success, based solely  on her efforts.
- I do not think HJ will, at first,  be pleased/happy if JH "Daddy Long Legs" role is in fact the case.  Hopefully, she will eventually (quickly) see and understand his reasons for playing that role.  
- 
- In any case if true-- This is going to be a relationship conflict/slow down reason - likely one of many.

EP 7, 8 HJ and Father Scenes

What a great performance by Park Shin Hye as HJ -- 

-- When she hide and looked at her father as he waited outside the operations suite, as he and her half sister YN waited on word of the step mothers operation -- I could  see in her and feel the pain of the young HJ as she hide outside her home (beginning EP 7) and listened to her fathers anger and hatred towards her mother who begged him not to leave her.

HJ, The writer, and PD have all combined in brining the story and the feelings to viewers of the extreme emotional pain and scaring a little girl felt as her father first abandoned her mother--then that of a young, then teenage girl felt, as the father then emotionally abandoned her to the abuse of her stepmother, finally to her physical abandonment on a dark road outside her grandmothers house.

-- When HJ and her father interact, I totally feel/share HJs anger and frustration towards him- she longs for him and hates him and just can not reconcile those feelings within herself - leaving her with a lifelong bleeding wound that can not heal.
---- In the scene (EP 8) of HJ meeting her father in the little park outside the hospital - her very justifiable anger and frustration is clearly evident -- after hearing his false self justification she can only either scream at him for his lies/actions or because of her inner turmoil combined with culture dictates of respect for parents/elders cry in anger/frustration as the wound in her heart once again bleeds pain - HJ in tears can only walk away, as she is not yet strong enough to fully resolve this lifelong pain.
--- JH will give her, through his love, the strength she needs

HJ will in the end forgive her father - her forgiveness is the only thing that will finally set her free from this emotional pain that keeps her from having the life she deserves - her forgiveness is NOT for the father, but for herself to be free.

I am looking forward to and confident that the writer will give us a creditable scenario for this to take place.

Thanks to all live screening viewers for their updates on EP 8 - I need to back read, but did a quick scan to see if SC made it - I had written my thoughts on SC based on end EP 7- before I left for gym-now back and will post

YES -- SC still alive --- agree with other viewers post- HJ does not need to suffer the death of another person who she has grown to care for -SC death, basically having occurred right in front of her would have been just too cruel - writer no doubt realized this and has much better use of SC (Ji Soo) acting skills and other attributes --in future episodes to help move this wonderful drama story forward.

--JH prepare to discover how jealousy feels.  I like this path the writer will/has put JH on - as I said in previous posts, JH has come across, to me, as too confident that HJ would only see him as a potential love interest.  Don't think his jealousy will last long, he will realize very quickly that to HJ, SC is a very good friend, but no more.

--SH get ready -your High School crush (see note) will very likely be spending more time in your vicinity - let's see if your obvious charms (beautiful, hard working, sweet caring personality, but strong enough not to take any unnecessary crap from others) can win him over - think they will, if you so wish.
---Note -I say High School crush, because SH wanted to be accepted by the schools tough girls, before HJ basically saved her, and those tough girls all had a high level of interest in SC.

Ji Soo the actor ---- As related to his screen time in this drama 
 - first saw him in Angry Mom- great young upcoming actor with a strong screen presence.  Although limited screen time so far- his acting skills if anything have gotten even more refined - forum post of other viewers clearly indicate his screen presence has also become even stronger - likely to have a lead roll within the next year.
I had thought, based on posts I read that due to his upcoming drama, he would not have a significant roll in this drama - have now rethought that- based on what I read about his next drama (start in late August) on AsianWiki he will be a supporting actor in that drama - so like many hardworking Kdrama supporting actors/actresses (see note example) I now think we will see more of him in this drama.
-- Note - Supporting Actress Yoon Bok In - a wonderful hardworking actress - great mother figure (bio/adopted) -recently in 3 on air dramas at the same time - Heavens Promise (most screen time), My Lawyer Mr Jo, Mirror of the Witch.

The first few minutes of EP 7, the writer shows the scene of the young HJ listening outside her home to her bio mother and father fighting ( could be about his mistress, soon to be hateful stepmother).  HJ thoughts to herself, clearly tell us one, if not the most critical reason, she has built such strong "self defense walls, that keep her from allowing herself to trust/emotionally interact with others and why since SH JH have been able to breach her walls, they mean so much to her as friends.  JH has,is,will, have a very hard time to to get through to her to fully (it has already started) open up to his love -- JH appears to fully understand how, perhaps  intuitively, she feels (intuitively unless we get a flashback of HJ Grandmother having shared some important information to him about why HJ acts like she does)--- now I, for one, understand why he has been coming onto her so insistently, yet at the same time with slow tentative steps.

KKJ boring -- yes -- but boring and very outgoing could be a match- YK- I actually see a slight possible SW YK ending - but in any case I would not like him for SH -- but as with KS -- IF writer goes that way and with good background - I would likely support

@jadecloud   @jadecloud Your recent post question about KS SH Love connection --- If the writer has the story go this way - I would support it -- But I do not think it will go that way-  If KS has a love a connection, I think it will be HJ Half Sister YN- soon to be a school teacher - at this point she seems sweet and caring - nice match for KS.

YD Uncle for SH --- NO NO - EP 5 at approx  35 mins-- tells us he is a divorced playboy/womanizer - not a good choice for SH IMO

-- Half sister- not much background - but I am liking her--with a mother like hers she still comes across as a nice person-shows she has and has been able to maintain her caring personality --The very opposite of what we see with SW and her mothers influence.
-- Wow -HJ really has an impact on the men around her - already has two of them -JH YD- ready and willing to break the hospital rules to help her.  We know she also has a positive impact on other men around her -- so I will have to accept that prior to what we now see --in the past her Walls/study focus was so high no man noticed or tried to get close to her, --because Based on what I see now, HJ should have had men lined up around the block wanting to be with her in university and her past hospital.

JH --
-- He is trying so hard to show HJ how much he cares for her- can not help but root for his success - he is taking a very slow open approach to break down HJs self imposed defensive wall- hug and kiss both with prior warning that this is a man women moment-he truly understands HJ.

YD--
-- His running away from HJ with his collar turned up and their conversation that followed - adds to what I saw in EP 5 and my YD overview post- the writer is making it  very clear that under his cold outward appearance - is a child like, very sweet caring man - could be competition for JH, but not yet,  will have to see how writer moves forward. 

SW--
-- Writer is showing her soft vulnerable side - so I think she will move further towards the dark side in future episodes, but will never cross over to outright evil - will reach a crisis where she realizes this not who she wants to be and then we will see her growth to be a better person 

SH--
-- Always a pleasure to see her- sweet, caring, open, positive outlook on life - just the person who could in the past and now get through HJs defensive wall- I think without her friendship, HJs life would be too dark.
-- We discovered her older brother is a Seoul Prosecutor, 2nd oldest brother is a very successful business man - I think they will both be important in the later episodes as the Hospital take over and Grandmothers death reach the crisis point.
-- SH Love Connection - this will be the break we need when the HJ JH story reaches the dark episodes
--- SH had met 3 of the doctors in training - one will be her love connection--
------ CHS - AKA the puppy - Could be a Noona romance connection - I do not think drama will go this way beyond a slight misdirection possibility
------ PYK- SW friend/one sided SW Love -- Could be another case of SW losing a friend story - but do not see him as SH love connection
------KKJ- Glasses, senior doctor in training- the great Kdrama trope of two people who dislike each other at first- but then continue to meet and grow to like each other - this is my bet for the SH Love connection.

YD as of end of EP 5 -- What a difference an episode makes --Continuing HJ JH Relationship growth, but also the YD Episode.

At the end of EP 4 - limited info on YD, but I stated he appears to be less then likable, but very serious about his profession.

EP 5 added info/scenes to give a better overview of YD

In the first minutes I see the following about YD
- Confirms his outward projected unlikable personality while also, still showing he is serious about his profession/dedicated/skillful Doctor/Surgeon--BUT IMO a lousy Supervisor - he very much projects by his outward attitude a "my way or the highway" supervising style- leads by instilling fear in his subordinates.
- -- Basically -He tells SW he will kick HJ out the hospital- because she is rude, stands out, talks back to him -- he also says she is unskilled - he says this last part without ever having seen her actually perform as a doctor/surgeon. 
- -- A good supervisor leads by example, learns his subordinates professional shortcomings and works with them to increase their skills -- Does not allow his petty personal feelings to enter the work place.
- -- Instead of leading by example or caring for his subordinate/junior, his goal is to set HJ up for failure.  YD, who says he does not think HJ has the skills necessary to be good surgeon, but is willing to put a young boys life at risk by goading HJ to perform a difficult surgery that he was going to perform with her as his assistant, when she says she does not need/want training from him ---all to met his personnel petty goal of getting her kicked out of hospital.  YES- he was also going to be in the operating room (before JH took over), so he could take over when HJ did something wrong -BUT to me NO not enough, if HJ was as unskilled as he thought, she could have killed the patient before he could intervene - Petty childish attitude on YD part.
- ---HJ Scene Note- While it is great/cheer worthy that HJ will not back down from a challenge - she must and will learn with JH help that there is a point when one must except that they can not allow others to push them into situations they are not yet ready to meet, due to their lack of training/experience.
- 
However, with YD the writer is giving us a glimpse of yet another complex character in this great drama -- even having said all above - YD also does show that he is very caring and interested in his patients getting the best care, as well as his currently hidden caring for his subordinates, albeit he comes across as cold.  He does fully and quickly accept what he sees and right away apologizes to HJ for doubting her skill.  It is during this apology we see the inner awkward child aspect of YD. Looking forward to YD development - I expect that he will show significant growth towards becoming both a better person and supervisor as he learns to bring more of his inner caring goodness to his outward reflected personality.
---Not sure at this point, but YD hiding his inner caring goodness, could be his defensive shield - to keep his father off his case and/or to cover up what seems to be his families males tending to be womanizers - which he fears he may also share that trait.

It is also learned in the first minutes in his conversation with SW when she confessed she likes him and was immediately rejected - that he likes women with a past, even if his love ends in regret - his liking of HJ is further broadcast by his uncle saying to him later in episode that he must like that girl since he appears awkward around her.  Kdrama For-shadowing moment with flashing lights and alarm bells going off - YD will/is falling for HJ -a triangle is coming or just a one sided love on YDs part, to enflame SWs jealously - will be interesting to see how writer plays it out   - 
- -- If YD is part of a HJ JH YD triangle I am OK with this.  Even as I am impressed by JHs being straightforward with being in love with JH, I still feel he is too confident - this is due to my impression that he has always had women chasing him and therefore, perhaps unconsciously, expects that HJ will also follow that trend, albeit a bit difficult due to her self built walls - but he does not see any male competition being a problem.
- --  Note - to be part of a love triangle means the writer has to show us that YD has even a slight chance to win HJs affection/love.  Otherwise, there is only one sided love on his part.

We also meet YD father for first time in EP 5 - he is on Team "SW Family" to push JH Father out of hospital and allow it to become a "Money Making machine" Vs a hospital that has as its major goal the care for society.   He comes across as a typical rich chairman of a powerful influential Group.
----- Also,shows he would support a YD SW marriage as good for his Group business growth -- He knows YD is serious about being a doctor/surgeon, so this would also be a subtle way to draw YD into taking over the hospital and becoming in the long term a business man--Ready to inherit the whole family Group.

YD falling in love with HJ will be the catalyst to enflame SW to move towards the dark side and also bring into play YD father as another  opponent   against HJ.  On the plus side - this will also serve to wake up JH that he is going to have become more aggressive to protect HJ and his fathers goals for a caring vs money making hospital.
 ----- SW father long ago, became an opponent of HJ, when his actions or lack there of resulted in her grandmothers death.

HJ Character Overview/My thoughts - While Waiting for Monday EP 5

HJ- Beautiful, Genius, great street fighter - Harsh past life has shut down/made her unable to recognize what a wonderful valuable person she really is - to the point that she thinks her success and resulting monetary rewards are what makes people treat her well, vs the actuality that people (those she works with or is in close contact with such as patients) really recognize her inner caring strength/beauty.

From the age of 8 (????, my guess) her mother having already died from illness basically in her arms and the appearance in her life of the ultimate wicked stepmother who takes joy in making her suffer.  A stepmother who totally dominates HJ father-making him into a weak, go along, to get along husband, while she step by horrible step takes daily actions to destroy his daughters self worth.  It is during this period that HJ developed her core inner strength and strong outer wall that will defend her from others-she will not show others her real self and projects the outward appearance of an emotionless strong person who will not let others have any impact on her.

This is the HJ we met at 18, the HJ who's stepmother has come to realize she can not turn into a weak whimpering little girl begging her for mercy and so finally directs HJs father to abandon her (HJs father for all his weakness does not strike as having made this decision on his own).

Thankfully for HJ this is the event (being abandoned)  that will change her life for the better - her Grandmother shows her that she is in fact worthy of unconditional family love - she meets two other people who will also show her that she is worthy of being loved/liked for who she really is - her outward defensive wall can not keep them from recognizing/appreciating her inner goodness.  One becomes a lifelong love (JH) and the other (SH) a lifelong friend.

At 18 it is both her Grandmother and JH who finalize her life goal to become a doctor - a goal I think first started when her mother basically died in her arms from illness.  SH who shows her a true friend- one who likes her just for being her, not because of any desire of gaining something.
--- Her Grandmother wishes only the best for her and would love to see her become the better person she knows she is - she puts in the effort to set HJ on that road to success, even as she faces surgery and possible premature death - she transfers her lifetime of savings, earned during her own hard life into bank accounts under HJs name, knowing if not her, no one else will support HJ.
---JH shows and guides her in the skills (how to work towards gaining the knowledge needed) for future success.  While also, not intentionally, awakening in her the first bloom of emotional love.
---SH shows her the meaning of true steadfast friendship - friendship that is there in both the good and hard times.

At 18 again, the harsh realities of life come at her and end her too short period of happiness.  Another person (SW) enters her life and because of jealousy (like her stepmother) tries to destroy her and send her to the bottom.  This period has already been covered by many great posts - so will be brief----
--- SW starts rumors about inappropriate love between teacher and student - resulting in the subsequent parting of HJ JH.  Then combined with her Grandmothers 
death during surgery - ends with HJ moving on in life basically alone (still waiting for backstory on this period) - BUT now with a Goal in life to become a doctor and with the skill set needed to accomplish that goal (Thanks to JH) and the money needed to allow her to live on her own and continue her eduction (Thanks to Grandmother).
--- On the plus side - it is during this event that a lifelong friendship between HJ and SH is firmly established - SH first tries to help her convince SW to tell the truth, when that fails and resulting in fire that could end, again because of SW lies, in HJ facing jail - SH will not let HJ sacrifice her life to protect her - she stands firm with the truth of events, does not run away from HJ to protect herself, shows she also has the strength to face whatever her actions bring.

Events have now moved to the present-- HJ is a highly skilled, successful Doctor/Surgeon recently joining JHs fathers/SWs Grandfathers hospital with her focus Being to discover and bring out into the bright light what actions SWs father took/should have taken/did not take -that resulted in her Grandmothers death (await more backstory on this).

---HJ SH have all ready reunited and have a strong wonderful friendship-look forward to seeing them together.  

---JH has just returned into her life - again his timing is off, but he is now determined to show her his love and win her love - I am thinking he is going to find it is not going to be smooth sailing and that he will have competition - but luckily for him HJ is capable of multitasking - she will continue to focus on discovering the truth about her Grandmothers death, learning to be even a better doctor/surgeon, and opening herself to love (JH is going to have to put in much effort to ensure that love is for him).

---SW is going to find to her dismay that she can not destroy HJ, she failed in the past and will face even greater failure and at more personnel cost now in the present.

Very much looking forward to how the writer brings above events into play and what I am sure the actresses/actors show us in how the characters in this great drama interact.

Random Thought - PSH KRW 

Forum moves at speed of light - already 18 pages since my last post - 4 episodes and past 200 pages - I wonder if this is a Soompi record.

I also see the great chemistry that HJ JH have-for me it is a sign of their (PSH KRW) great talent and using their professional skills to portray the love the characters have for each other - the great level of chemistry they show is not achieved by all drama OTPs - many, not all, have chemistry - but rarely at the level I see in this drama -- PSH is hitting her professional "stride" as a top tier actress.  This the first drama I have, or at least recall, seeing KRW- but based on the post I read he continues to deliver in having chemistry with the actresses he has worked with -- but do get the impression that having PSH as a fellow lead in this drama - has also brought his skills/ability to portray a couple in deep love to a higher level.

Upcoming episode - looking like HJ SW team/ training selection will take place - should be interesting - but I am betting on YD HJ Team and JH SW team

JH really wants HJ on his team-- but is too laid back/ overconfident - he already is sure SW will push to be on YD the rich man team- since they have already worked together-- 

YD already does not think highly of SW skills and likely tired of her trying to push a relationship -- he comes off as less then likable - but seems to take his profession very seriously - he will want HJ - he is already impressed by her skill.

HJ - Not sure, but do not see her pushing to join either team - her focus is learning what happened to her Grandmother in that operating room - Grandmother medical records sealed and restricted from being reviewed --RED FLAG that had only increased HJ suspicion that SW father made a serious mistake and is covering it up.

SW father HJ Grandmother surgery -- SW father is more salesman then doctor, he acts and speaks nicely to HJ Grandmother and no doubt all his patients - his goal is money - Get them to have surgery - get them on the table - open them up - cut them up - close them up - off to the bank.  If all goes well - great - if not - OK -they are not young, to die in surgery no surprise -- Then off to the bank - has worked so well for him in the past - he wants a senior health center it will be a money maker.

Note -- back to start of - EP 1 HJ remark to herself basically says -- A death in this place is not unusual, the man I am to meet does not get shocked by death. I think not JH - but it is SW Father she is talking about.

JH - A great Kdrama Hero - he does have flaws/weaknesses - we will root for him as he overcomes/grows to deal with them. My thoughts JH end EP 3 with subs -- while awaiting subs for EP 4.

Conjecture- IMO at this time --JHs character major flaw/weakness  -- one that will lead to future angst as this great drama moves forward - the writer having established this weakness early in the drama - has a great number of ways (I will make no guesses at this point) to use this weakness to cause angst-
--supporting notes first-----

- At the start of EP 1 present day, HJ in her thoughts to herself as she gets dressed in hospital locker room - basically says -- A death in this place is not unusual, the man I am to meet does not get shocked by death. (JH??????)
- EP 1/2 show JH as a smart man who graduated from the most highly acclaimed medial university in Korea, became an intern in his fathers  hospital, but abandoned the medical profession to become a teacher - but still has a great drive to help/save people with his medical skills.
- EP 2 @18 minutes seems to give us the reason he abandoned the medical profession - A patient dies on the surgical table, the Surgeon rather then take responsibility as a the ultimate surgery team leader, shifts blame to what appears to be a Doctor in training for surgery specialty - who then shifts blame to JH who is an intern -for not checking to see if patient had a fever before surgery -- JH is an intern, he is in training and as such all his actions should be watched over by his trainers, mistakes will happen and should be learned from, an interns mistakes are going to happen and is why more experienced training doctors are to watch over them, to us those mistakes as a learning tool, NOT to let those mistakes have an actual effect on patient care.
- EP 3 As with the surgery incident above, JH is not entirely innocent-he understands that his teaching methods, in a very conservative educational system leave him open to criticism/misunderstandings- he accepts that he should have been more careful and again goes to his fall back -resigns and leaves.  
- -- Of course as an adult to protect his student, we support and understand his action - but he could have fought back and proved the truth of no relationship beyond teacher student - it would have been difficult/painful for him and HJ--in his mind he accepts he did wrong and resigns/leaves.
- -- The writer sure makes it difficult to explain this incident, by increasing the "spark" between JH HJ after the incident--but that is also why we can understand and root for what is going to happen between the two in the present time frame.  
- -- Additionally, I think the writer increasing the romance "spark" towards the end of EP 3, increased the need for JH to leave before something really happens.  JH has, at least it appears so far(only future episodes will fill in) stayed away/out of contact with HJ for 13 years - why that long if there was a true "spark" - could have waited till she finished university and then met her again in an age appropriate time setting.  He totally disconnects, because he understands at that time it was inappropriate for any feelings beyond student teacher. 
- ---- Note again - sensitive subject--but to be clear, neither HJ JH acted on any feelings, they parted and now we enter the present , 13 long years later - any feelings now totally acceptable.

I had previously thought that JH left the medical profession due to a guilt/fear complex of people dying under his care, one that he had already overcome when we reach the present and he is Doctor -but now see, (based on above) that it is not that simple/straight forward (great complex drama writing).  JH in fact understands he can not save everyone, a doctor to be effective must have this understanding or they will destroy themselves with guilt.  

Bottom line -
JHs flaw/problem/weakness is --that he has raised his own moral "bar" so high that he can never get over it - if he thinks he had made a mistake, he accepts full responsibility for it - a great trait, that makes for a great person.  BUT JH takes it a step too far, he accepts responsibility - then leaves (runs away), he is too unforgiving of himself, makes a small mistake/error in judgement  into a bigger mistake, by not accepting he is only human- be it medical, teacher or other relationship - rather then accept it, learn from it, continue to grow in his profession/relationship and become at the end of the day, even a better Doctor, Teacher, steadfast lover, etc.  
---Note- I guess a case could be made, that JH missed/longed for HJ for 13 years-- but missing/longing while staying away from the person you have feelings/love for, does not a Steadfast lover make.  Steadfast is the ultimate commitment - for better or worse, you stand firmly next to your lover and protect/support your love.
---JH I am giving a pass on the past-The timing of your first first feelings for HJ - teacher/student was off - Now (the present) is your time to shine - do not let us down

As this drama- HJ JH love line moves forward, this is the trait that will likely cause future angst and the trait that JH growth will eventually overcome.  Look forward to how the writer shows his growth.

Awkwardly worded, but hope I got my point across - 

Looking forward to each episode- writer just keep HJ strong - more use/scenes of her street fighting skills will be much appreciated - That is what "hooked" me in the first minutes of EP 1 - a different style Kdrama heroine, tells me that this drama will have twists that will keep me engaged through all episodes.  Sageuk dramas have their share of heroines with fighting skills - but for me, this is a first modern day Kdrama with the heroine having and using those fighting skills.

Just completed Episode 3 with 93% subs - it is such a dark heart breaker- I will hold off for now on doing a perhaps more in-depth post -- But my hope at the end of my last post, that SW father would leave for Seoul and disconnect from HJ Grandmother, before her surgery, did not happen-with the resulting death of Grandmother at  his uncaring of patients, barely component hands.  -
-- The natural manner in which his surgical assistant brought the phone to him and held it, shows this was not a one time occurrence and is very indicative of how little he regards his patients.

SW did go a little more dark - but I thought I saw that she did feel conflicted/confused about her own actions- that does not make her good by any means- but also not yet really moving to the dark side - her mothers attitude/actions as expected.

HJ - she knows something unexpected happened in that surgical room to her Grandmother - possible reason she is now at that hospital -

My initial overview thoughts/impressions on SW who I see as the Prime Antagonist in this wonderful drama-- Since there have been some great post already about the wonderful OTP leads HJ JH, thought I would post about SW while eagerly awaiting episode 3--

First -the actress Lee Sung Kyung who portrays Jin Seo Woo (SW) -Do not recall seeing her in other dramas I have watched - but GOOGLE states she was in "Okay,That's Love" which I very much enjoyed.  I have no doubt I will recall her in the future, after this drama.- she is already making a good impression of her skills as an actress with her portrayal of SW.  Should the writer choice to go this way (they usually do) and make SW into a dark evil character - LSK will truly make us hate SW

SW as of the end episode 2
In episode 1 she seems to be a typical rich girl, who other students either keep their distance from or like SH (Principles daughter) go out their way to cater to her.  But it is clear that SW recognizes what is behind SHs seemingly friendly attitude - it is her status as the wealthy daughter of a rich, prominent family (that is prominent in their town, not so much in a big city like Seoul).  Episode 1 shows she likes how her teacher JH is not like others and treats her as a student who is smart, and shows an interest in her as a student for just being her- not the rich girl who's mother has so much influence at the school.

SW Family
Mother - Very much the rich wife, 
- Demands her daughter to be the best, study, study to attend the best medical school, not like her father who only managed to attend a rural university.
- Seems to be dissatisfied with her husband.
- Is living her life through her daughter, who must do the great things she herself wanted, but could not attain
- Does not want SW to associate with or make any friends, who could not be a benefit/used to attain those things she demands of her daughter - at this point does not seem overly evil - but no doubt will do anything necessary to ensure her daughter successes.  Average, uninfluential people in her eyes do not count.
- 
Father- comes across as a rich man, but not that smart, who depends on his father, to lead him and present him with those positions he wants, but really does not have any drive to work hard for.
- Very much the absent, go along to get along, father figure to SW- 

Grandfather - full of ambition, will move his son into positions to support his goal of fully taking over the hospital that JHs adopted father worked hard to make a success.  Very much the two faced conniving villain Korean Dramas do so well in portraying - he is all good friends, smiles, let me help you to JHs fathers face, while sticking a knife in his back.
- Interesting, important fact we learn in a conversation between him and his son - basically complaining to his son for not having a son, but only a daughter SW- on the plus side SW father actually defends her as being as good as any son.  I have to think SW is aware of her Grandfathers feelings about her.
- Minor point, may or may not learn any more about it - but always curious to know the reason way the rich family that puts so much emphasis on a son, but only has one child a daughter - likely due to medical reasons - but if it is something else could be plot twist in the future.

SW - Episode 2 is her "coming out episode" - I already covered much of this in my second forum post- so here will do overall impressions only"

- The SW we see is very much, as would be expected, a product of her families influence on her-- 
- She is not the spoiled rich girl princess, who throws little child tantrums if she is not given everything she wants.
- She thinks she is the best and smartest, but she works very hard at her studies to  back up that belief.
- She seems lonely because her mother pushes study over friends, so she will reach the top.  It was a bit sad to see what could have been a great friendship between her and HJ fall apart because HJ is actually smarter, not to mention HJs great student monitor (only at this point) relationship with JH.
- She is not only book smart, but very naturally perceptive - she is attuned to what goes on around her and understands much about the people around her.
- She is very confident and straightforward of who she is, and what attributes she has - good looks, smart, rich family.
- She is not shy or withdrawn - when she wants something she is clear and forthright - her love confession to JH was not that of a school girl-but a confident in who she is woman.
As shown above she has many good positive traits -- BUT when faced with not getting what she wants - she is vengeful, will attack with all she has.
- Having been turned down by JH because she thinks HJ has usurped what she herself wants --she goes into full attack mode, she will destroy what she can not have- based on what we see and the dialogue in episode 2- her attack while vicious is open- she does not hide the fact that it is her.  Not sure how it will be resolved in episode 3 -- but do think when we get to the episodes in the present-- SW will have picked up her Grandfathers conniving methods and not be so open/straightforward when attacking.

NOTE - since it is a sensitive issue - let me be clear - above para is what SW thinks -- I only see at this point a strong student mentor relationship with HJ JH- there is a spark, but it will go no further at this time.

SW is going to be a Formable opponent to HJ in the future.

@irilight   @irilight Hello - looks like this is the 3rd drama we are both viewing - in the first we had different POV on the OTP, the 2nd basically the same OTP POV, and now in this wonderful drama with such great leads -- a nice guy (JH) and a tough/warm hearted, genius, great street fighter (HJ) OTP combination, looking forward to your insightful posts.

Having just joined this forum yesterday, after viewing episode 1, when it was already at 133 pages --thought I would need to wait until next week to post again with episode 3.  But, having now viewed episode 2 and seeing that members are still sharing thoughts about episode 2, and now being totally engaged with this wonderful drama- posting again.

Just completed viewing episode 2 -- whereas episode 1 established what is sure to be a great drama OTP (HJ JH) --episode 2 appears to be, in part, the prime OTP antagonist SW set up episode.

But will start post with HJ JH- another great episode continuing to establish the OTP interest in each other  - 
HJ is not just smart, she is a genius -based on her school documents she has an IQ of 156 -putting her in the top tier for being gifted and intelligent- what a combination, good looks, genius, great street fighter.  The husband thanking HJ for helping his wife, naming daughter after her- reborn HJ starting point.

HJ JH - classroom blood type, microscope scene- first spark of interest

JH sad back story coming to light - parents killed by a white truck of doom, for now looks like an accident, but sure didn't look like any breaking was applied-but I am always suspicious when a white truck is in play.  JH quick thinking/action on street with pregnant woman in extreme distress (HJ stayed calm, ready to immediately act based on directions - nice bonding moment). At the hospital we learn that JH has a guilt/fear complex when he can not save someone- with that complex -no wonder he is teaching now-

SW in episode 1 seemed like a typical rich girl who had a school girl crush on her teacher JH- not surprising, since he comes across as a sweet caring, intelligent, unconventional, teacher who actually cares for his pupils - SW certainly not the only school girl with a crush on him.  Forgetting for now, that we as Kdrama viewers know what her appearance likely means --and  based solely on what we see on screen - SW herself, does not really set off any "watch out for her, danger" alarm bells.  Although episode 1 did set up that her Father, Grandfather, are trying to take over JHs adopted fathers hospital and leave JH adrift. 

SW Episode 2 - A nice start with HJ helping her and SW agreeing to help HJ study -a cute running through streets scene - HJ SW SH relaxing together after math test-looks like the start of a friendship - UNTIL HJ comes in first on math test, SW is rich, pretty, her family has connections, she is always first and thought of as smartest in school - she has confessed her feelings to HJ, who naively brushes them off - then SW sees HJ JH microscope scene - SW also gets a spark from this scene=intense jealousy with a multiplier of being beat in math test- Drama prime antagonist alarm bells now ringing- SW is very perceptive -she sees that HJ is naturally smart/learns fast and most critical- that HJ does have a like interest in teacher JH- then SW witnessed HJ JH sharing ice cream, laughing, getting along together- her school mates (not friends) then go on about HJ JH Chemistry and take a picture which SW grabs the girls phone and walks off - she is very straight forward and goes and confronts JH, but his backhanded way of inspiring students - does not work with SW- rather she goes into attack mode (think we are seeing the beginnings of future conflicts and methods here)

Great cliffhanger ending - SH being a good friend to HJ, tries to bring her together with SW to talk and make peace- But SH choice of location and subsequent clumsy moves brings us the abandoned building, fire scene, ending -- Eagerly awaiting Episode 3.

Great sweet scenes of HJ and her Grandmother - but then the flip side, her Grandmother has cancer, but has not told HJ and I am not liking her doctor being SW father, if no other reason, then he is already being shown to have a greater interest in administration work, not hands on caring for patients.  BUT looks like he is moving to Seoul to gain better future connections NOT good for JH and his father in the long run- but hopefully disconnects him from Grandmother before her operation.

Just completed episodes 1 on DramaFever and was ready to paste my first post having written it in Notebook --- But WOW - when I open this forum it is already 133 pages - I am very late -- but paste/post I will - looks like there must be a site with faster subs then DF, will check Viki -- then likely hold off any other posts until episode 3 when I hope to be on track with rest of forum.  I have cut my first post to a basic overview of my thoughts on the leads - but I find them so great, I admit I went a bit long.

After viewing episode 1, I am looking forward to a great drama - I was hooked in the first few minutes , YHJ is going to be a great heroine--Looks like an actual,basic nice guy lead (HJH) and a strong, smart, feisty female lead (YHJ) -- With this combination I am all ready to support the OTP --since this is not a 100+ episode daily, I am very hopeful that YHJ will not get beaten down to the point that she loses for a time her core strengths during the mid episodes - but after having survived her harsh childhood, it is hard to see what/who could knock her down-no doubt the writer will set me straight on that point and likely it will revolve around HJH, the man who is going to help during her darkest period and set her up to bloom into the wonderful woman we saw in the first few minutes.  Also, loved her grandmother, she will also play a big role in the reborn YHJ - thank goodness YHJ was blessed with a lot of her strength, tough life exterior/ warm heart.  HJH a basic nice guy and one whom the ladies are drawn too- what a concept- a nice change from the leads in a few of the last dramas I viewed.  HJH YHJ both looking to have sad back stories, (YHJ shown ep 1, HJH hinted at) but still strong and resilient.

Also, looking forward to another great drama with Park Shin Hye - have only seen her in 'Heartstrings" and thought she was great.

Need to read back pages - may even be able to add something before next week.

My ending impression of IHAL the drama 

I had already posted my farewell to IHAL and this forum on page 717 - but based on all the recent discussions -- just could not stay away -- truly this is a great forum and continues to draw me in, because of all the great discussion points being made.

IHAL - Good Drama that started with a Great synopsis/concept (page 1 this forum) which totally changed at episode 10 to take a easier, less controversial road.  Great 1st and 2nd leads, Great supporting characters & storylines.  The writer did fill the drama with many supporting episodes of outstanding, Entertaining, well written K-drama angst, which kept the viewer captivated and eager for the next episode.

Good not Great - because the great intriguing supporting storylines/plots presented over 50 episodes, where never really resolved with the same skillful dramatic flare with which the writer had built them.
For example- I expected to see how and be convinced that both HK & YG could live with their lovers, in harmony with their lovers families (FIL, brother) which had caused them such pain -- but writer took easy route and killed off the FIL and put the brother into prison for life.

The writer gave the main character HK -- a full MAKJANG load to carry --guilt over child's death, birth secret father & twin, fathers murder and patent stolen-by FIL who used her as a hunting dog, amnesia, near death experiences, evil BIL, nasty scheming SIL, infidelity, divorce, attempted suicide.

I stayed engaged with this drama till the end to see how HK would overcome her overwhelming sense of guilt and find her own peace and acceptance of who she NOW is -- not what her past self was.  HK to me was the primary character and the one who I rooted for through all episodes.---Also, Enjoyed the supporting characters and their storylines - both how those stories impacted the supporting characters and HK.

For me this was a drama about the journey of HK - her efforts to atone for and correct her previous life's mistakes and HER well deserved second chance and RESET in life as a warm and caring woman.  The writer did a wonderful job in showing the manner/reasons in which HKs growth occurred.
