  1. @morwena -- in the disagreement with his dad, it sounded like Hyuk has done everything his father ever ordered whether he liked it or not. So he probably never/hardly dated since it would have interfered with his work and daddy's plans for his life... As his daddy said, it does not matter if he likes her or not, he can always divorce her later.. But agree with ya, he was embarrassingly and adorably awkward... love his expressions through out the dinner conversation.. he seriously is no casanova...

    For Jae In and Madame Bok, dating Hyuk is simply a step in getting a seat in the Yellow Sea Credit Union. Don't believe that either of these two ladies have any intention of carrying it further than that.. For both, Cha Don is their choice.. Kind of cool to see a drama where there is no parental/child conflict on choice of partner....

  2. @morwena -- I agree with ya. Even I was feeling kinda sorry for Angelina. To go to extremes for a guy who won't even acknowledge you in public as his romantic partner.

    I love Madame Bok. Wasn't she so cute when she says that she likes CD as much as JI and is doing all this to push them both together... I guess if she couldn't have CD as a son, then a son-in-law is the next logical step! :) CD was so funny while trying to pretend that he is not jealous -- love the reactions of the manager and secretary when Uncle Pal drops the news;

  3. did anyone else notice that in the scene where Jae In confessed to Cha Don, she was wearing flourescent yellow heels? my eyes were almost blinded by the impossible yellow colour!! :D but bright bright bright shoes seems to be current shoe trend in korea -- in 100 years inheritance, Joo Ri keeps wearing bright shoes.

    as a drama viewer, I feel like I should protest -- these huge blob of colour on the screen that one is unable to look away even while there is important dialogue being spoken.....

  4. I like the way Jae In's character is being shaped. She likes Cha Don and wants him to like her as a woman but at at the same time, I love how she says she will ignore him for a while as she has her own pride. Its so refreshing to see a woman like that. Also, thought it was quite hilarious that Ji Se Kwang realizes that Jae In seems to pity him.
    Who else thought that it was quite sad that Cha Don seems to have no friends when he is feeling low and the only person who he can call is Jae In.. So what does Jae In mean then to Cha Don?

    @lmangla, I think  the writers are continuing to give her that spunk. I have noticed a certain mannerism that the chubby Bok Jae In does when she's happy. It's like a little "leap of joy" and she goes "hmmmmp" when she does it, and she did it too when she was happily shopping at the mall after her  makeover. wonder how CD with his supposedly sharp eyes would recognize her.

  7. i think we have to watch and see Jae-In's change is played out. In episode 5, we see a girl who instead of running away, takes the cake, throws it at CD and then drags him to the cops, cries on the street later, then brags to the ajumma in the shop that she has tons of men after her. she is a very interesting character that way, rather then the way usually overweight characters are portrayed. i hope the writer continue to give her that spunk. while it is a bit of a leap that she would immediately become beautiful, i give the writers credit that she dislocated her jaw almost immediately, at least suggesting the process is not that simple....

    as for the discussion on how nice it would have been if Cha Don saw her inner beauty, that would have been totally unrealistic... when we meet him first as an adult, he sees himself in the mirror and declares vainly that he is so gorgeous! (eye roll) so to expect a guy like that to see inner beauty immediately??? but we do know that she has made an impression on him; she does not react the way he expected her to at all; the section chief asks him on whether he is in danger of falling for her for real which he vehemently denies.. interesting no?

    people across Asia are not at PC when it comes to weight. people call fat as fat and they can be extremely cruel about it. I met a matchmaker once and the first time I met her, she told me that at least I am not fat, unlike this other client who she was having trouble with.. the matchmaker put it so bluntly that no one is going to give that client a chance unless she loses weight... such is the world we live in.....

  8. Mishil was such a well-written character and the actress did an amazing job with the role. she was actually way more interesting then the queen. she had some very interesting lines -- " although, a man's strength may appear great. But a man cannot survive on his won strength alone. One needs a little bit... of Heaven's will." -- what a great piece of dialogue.

    i think MLBL really lacks that dialogue pizaaz. we are veering into makjang territory but there is none of that zingy dialogue/scenes that makes us laugh and cheer........
