RE: the Compliment Me video, I think HB chose the flower one as the one SYJ wrote because she is a huge flower lover and he likely knows that. It was also the least fangirly compliment of the lot and probably the safest bet. He didn't know she was trying to scam him lol 

 

I've watched those videos (especially couch talk) countless times and you definitely get a sense of how comfortable and familiar they are with each other, but also a sense that they (particularly SYJ) may have been purposely trying to make it seem like some answers were surprising. Even if they weren't in a romantic relationship, they've spent enough time together the last 2 years filming two projects and traveling together (1 personal trip, and 2 other countries for work purposes), that they would definitely know each other fairly well at this point. So where HB nodded along knowingly to SYJ saying she unwinds with a cup of coffee, SYJ may have been trying to play it a little too cool when he talked about how he unwinds after work with beer. That's my interpretation anyway

 

@lovelyz great post as always! I also found that BTS pic funny. It's hard to tell because its just a split second, but she does look annoyed right? Although there is also another pic later on in between takes of them filming that scene where she is picking lint off his jacket so im sure they were fine lol

@jamy47 I agree. No disrespect to KHN who is a terrific actor (I watched WTCB right after CLOY) but if we're talking about Hallyu Best Actor category vs Bakesang Best Actor, HB should have taken this one for the reasons you mentioned.  Sometimes I think people take for granted the difficulty of acting in a different accent, as well as the difficulty of portraying the stoic nature of such a character without coming across as stiff. HBs acting in CLOY is not the showy kind, its a very nuanced portrayal but still difficult and most wouldnt have pulled it off as well as him. CLOY worked for many reasons and HB was a huge part of why. Anyway, awards are great but they dont always get it right. I'm glad HB finished off this decade with a huge international hit much the same way he ended his first acting decade with SEGA. He has a lot to be proud of, including introducing many new viewers to the world of k-dramas.

@lovelyz wonderful post as always. I have wondered if KSR had the opportunity to visit TN set during filming and met SYJ at any point? I think despite silly arguments by fans online most of these actresses all respect one another. SK entertainment is a small world where everyone knows everyone. It also seems more supportive compared to what you hear out of Hollywood.

I was rewatching CLOY episode 14 hospital scenes after the paparazzo takes that photo of Seri and RJH hugging while he helps her get up from the bed. Then of course Seri is just admiring the pic and then this exchange happened: 

 

Joo Meok: "Its a good thing Mon Bok blocked the window right away."

Seri: "I know. It's good that they didn't catch the crucial moment". 

 

Ok what?  I may have missed this the first 10 times I watched it lol But what the heck is Seri talking about? Because nothing happened after that hug. So what crucial moment did he miss? I feel like that line along with the entire scene is a huge easter egg that is referencing the Ralph's grocery incident. I mean, Ralph's is even listed in the search results while Seri is scrolling through the most searched words (yes we know now its not Ralph's but don't think the writer did at the time). 

 

Moments later Seri's mom is asking RJH how long he and Seri have been dating. He stares at her blankly and does not answer... 

 

Anyway, just thought I'd share because I keep discovering new little details with each rewatch. Hats off to writer Park ji-eun and her cleverness

Re: SYJs new project. Wow. Was not expecting another drama (it would be 3 back to back for her). It is not confirmed and it is only an offer at this point but I just cannot see her accepting this if she is still committed to The Cross next April. We have approx. 8 months between Sept and April to squeeze this in. Dramas usually take 5-7 months to film and given this is a historical drama with period costumes I would assume it will be closer to 7. 

 

And this is even assuming this will start filming anytime soon. Considering they are still casting leads I can't imagine this will start next month. Usually you get confirmed casting and then filming is still months away. Plus you add in the Covid factor and the recent spike in SK which has just halted productions again and you really have no set start date. My take is she will not accept this drama if she commits to The Cross.

Yes yes yes. Why is this hard to comprehend? 

From shipping these two I've learned the following about K media - relationship denials are issued for one of two reasons:

1) Because the rumoured relationship is, in fact, not true, or;
2) Because the couple is not ready to admit to the relationship yet (for whatever reason).

So obviously we all continue to ship them because we believe they fall in camp #2. And no, despite what some may think, we're not delusional for thinking this way. And the number of denials are not as imporant as when they happened and why. There are two sets of denials if you really break it down. The first set was Jan 2019 when two denials were made in response to them being spotted having dinner together and then a few weeks later grocery shopping (with pics) in LA. We know that SYJ has never gone public with a relationship. So even those that are doubters- if you just accept for a moment that they are in fact a couple, what other possible response could they have given? They did not want to admit it but there were clear pics - so they denied it and said they were close friends. Safe option despite how many people didn't buy it. They are not the first or last to lie in a similar scenario.

The second set of denials came out Jan-Feb 2020 when agencies had to deny a bunch of stuff (handholding on set, marriage, break up). So this was pretty much near the end of CLOY filming. Again, context matters here. Let's assume once more that they have been a couple this whole time. They are now working on a drama together. Could they realistically have admitted it then? Of course not. Has there ever been a real life couple in SK who admitted their relationship WHILE filming or even immediately after the film/drama ends? I don't think so. What mostly happens is that months or years later they will claim to have become good friends while working and then fallen in love after have gotten to know each other better, blah blah blah. Even though everyone and their brother knows they likely started dating on set. 

Most importantly there has not been a denial since Feb despite many many articles and rumours and continued interest. Now, if a denial drops tomorrow I would be inclined to believe it since there is really no reason for them to deny anymore at this point. But until that happens, I will proudly keep sailing.

This reminds me of a couple me and hubby met while on vacation years ago. We exchanged information, and the girl has liked and commented on every single picture I've posted on my social media accounts ever since. If you were to read her comments you'd think she was a close friend but I have zero relationship with her. So I'm always super wary of any kind of deep analysis that goes into people's social media activity one way or another.

And while we think they would make a great couple based on what we know about them (again based on what they have told us and shown us over the years) you are right that its a small percentage of their personal lives they have shared. Re: the clubs. Yes I can see why it would be perceived that way. Although I don't think the original intention was to be exclusionary, but more so to have the freedom to discuss certain things that couldn't be talked about here in the main threads. But then as more and more people tried to join, the club moderators had to vet people and those with no posts or newer posters may have been rejected simply because they couldn't be verified to be real fans (the fear was too many antis with bad intentions). I know there are lots of real fans who don't even post, just silently lurk (I did the same for months before joining). So obviously that is a disadvantage with the club system. But its gone now anyway.

 

And as you said, we all have the same common goal here so we should be kinder to one another and give the benefit of the doubt. I do like the fact that, for the most part, when people disagree they do so respectfully. We are an international group and English is not everyone's first language perhaps some extra consideration is needed. But lets all just happilly coexist and ship peacefully

I hope people aren't taking the comfirmation of Pavillions vs Ralph's as new information. It's just one of those pesky details that people thought was incorrectly reported when the grocery pics originally came out. It does not change the fact that they were grocery shopping together. It just gives fans further context on the part of LA they were visiting and perhaps a hint on where they were staying.

I've noticed a lot of tweets and stories have popped up the last few days (e.g. that Vietnamese actress, or the Taiwanese journalist, random golf sightings in June, etc...) and while they may be true, we should be careful and not take them as facts. Especially when people are sharing rumours they have heard from other unnamed sources. We can't verify any of this information. So sure, it's nice to read but we shouldn't get hung up on or count it amongst our real receipts (of which there are many and have come directly from HB and/or SYJ themselves, or very very close and reliable associates).

I don't get this line of thinking either. I have watched SITR and MOTA and don't mind seeing them kiss their onscreen partners  at all. I actually enjoyed those scenes and the relationships portrayed (the storyline themselves needed some work, but that's another topic entirely lol) 

 

I think it becomes a bit silly to call yourself a fan of these two as actors but then avoid their other works that may involve romance. Acting is their craft. And both are really great at convincing people their on screen partnerships are real. Why else are they both constantly shipped with others

She's so cute. I love her dorkiness and that she is not afraid to show that side. Some actors are rather stiff but she is always so energetic and engaging and free-spirited.

 

I was looking at her IG page and it struck me how refreshing her feed is compared to a lot of actors I follow - she doesn't post curated content. She doesn't really use IG to promote herself- doesn't post her movie posters, drama stills, magazine shoots, or any promotional material. It's all candid photos and selfies, mostly from her own phone. She really is just sharing her life with fans whenever she feels like it. 

 

I also respect HB a lot for not even bothering with a social media account (as much as we would love it!) and just having his team update via Vast IG and weibo (occasionally). It's easy to get caught up in the world of social media and for an actor to not have a personal account these days is rare. While people like to joke around that Smart ad = Binjin confirmation/married I think that is mainly said in jest. People just got excited because it's another thing to look forward to where you can potentially see them together since they likely will not have future projects (atleast not anytime soon). And it is just one more indication that they have no problem at all being associated together and are therefore unbothered by rumours. 

 

Of course Smart will hype up this collaboration. That is their job. But their shipping is always in reference to their CLOY characters. I doubt Smart is privy to information about their relationship (as they said, your guess is as good as theirs). 

 

I also agree that we shouldn't resort to reading too much into their friends/ associates social media posts.  Firstly because the people closest to them are super protective and never post anything. Secondly,  because it becomes a dangerous rabbit hole where you start attributing things to HB and SYJ that have nothing to do with them. As you noted, these people have lives and do not exist merely to feed shippers appetites. Thirdly, we have never needed receipts via third parties. They have almost always exclusively come from HB and SYJ themselves. So we patiently wait as always.
