@jamy47I think the 8 month timeline was agreed upon in advance so it appears they started dating after CLOY. We know better but if that's the story they want to go with its fine by me 

 

And what exactly is going on in those pics? I just see HB in a car with SYJ outside. The grocery pics were more scandalous than this

@Babycake82 I love that new/old pic of them at the CLOY wrap up party. A few people pointed out they are sitting close enough that their thighs/knees are pretty much touching  

 

But most importantly, they sat next to each other the whole night. The first pic is the seating area with pillars where everyone ate their food, and then they moved to another area to watch the final episode. And based on pics from other wrap parties we've seen of both SYJ and HB for their other dramas, they don't always necessarily sit next to their co-star.  

 

 

 

Even back during TN promo period where they had staff from both their agencies travelling with them on the bus rides to all the events, they always chose to sit next to each other

Since this fandom loves anniversaries so much, SYJ posted this 1 year ago today as her Christmas post. I love this pic for many reasons: 

 

- HBs huge, boyish grin

- his fingers on SYJs shoulder 

- the fact that SYJ had to go waaay back in her camera roll to August to find the right picture to post 

- the fact that this is the only picture she decided to share of HB and herself during the whole CLOY filming period as a gift to fans for Christmas. 

 

I know some are hopeful she will post something today or tomorrow. She may, but I doubt it will be what people hope for (remember, she teased once in an interview that she doesnt like giving people what they expect lol).

I think a big part of that reaction was because the rumours with HB seemed to come out of nowhere. I was reading SYJs thread here on Soompi a while back, and when the grocery pictures dropped, people were quite shocked. SYJ was being actively shipped with her last co-star and MOTA was still airing and there was an active ship for HB and his drama co-star (although she was in a confirmed relationship). So yeah, unfortunately, it resulted in SYJ getting a lot of negativity on her IG from some in those groups. It was only when people then went back and re-watched their smitten TN promo, recalled the golf sighting and the fact that she showed up to his Rampant premiere, that's when dots started to get connected. Makes you also think how different everything would be if those pictures never came out. I'm sure people would still ultimately ship them based on their chemistry in CLOY and their other interactions but I doubt it would be as crazy. 

 

And its unfortunate that some people felt 'led-on' by SYJ, considering she, in her own words, denied her rumour with her SITR co-star. But fans can certainly turn on you and I hope that if, for whatever reason, we don't get the confirmation we are hoping for, that people will respect both her and HB. It wouldn't change their respect and admiration for each other and the gift they gave to us via CLOY, TN, and all their other works.

Yes that was probably the most intriguing part of the whole interview. I was hoping the interviewer would ask him to expand on what has changed in terms of his views of God. Missed opportunity. 

 

And yes this person was on a major fishing expedition with this interview and believe me, HB knew that. They brought up HJM for the sole purpose of also bringing up SYJ again (both being the same age). He was not going to give much away this time lol. 

 

One thing is for sure, k-media is still very much under the impression they are more than just close friends. 

 

ETA: apparently the sentence about God was a translation error. God is not mentioned.

Was the interviewer trying to indirectly ask THE question that can’t be asked? I feel like the interviewer was hinting at, how come you guys are so comfortable with the each other when you only had a few scenes together (in TN)?!

Yes the interviewer was working an angle for sure and it basically came across like this:

 

Interviewer: So you and SYJ have great chemistry in CLOY and fit so well together. 

 

HB: Yes we were comfortable  in our scenes because its our second time working together. 

 

Interviewer: But in your first project you barely had scenes together and mainly acted through monitors.

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I am not feeling that Esquire cover. HB is gorgeous, but I feel like they airbrushed him too much to make him appear boyish (similar to Bench shoot)? Or maybe it's his hair that is too poofy (is that even a word? lol) And I get that they need to display the watch, but surely there are better ways other than holding a glass like that. His recent Omega shoot was probably one of his best looks ever so I feel like this could have been better.

How amazing are those digital subway ads?  

I love that several of the supportive characters are featured, not just first and second leads. CLOY's success is really due to the entire ensemble  cast so they should all be recognized. Well done and I hope they all get to see it! 

 

Yejinhand update  She really does seem overwhelmed by it all, doesnt she? Obviously she has experienced much success over her career, but most of that was limited to SK and a few other Asian countries where her films have done well. But CLOY amd Netflix has really brought a whole other level of international attention and I really do believe her when she says how grateful she is. Her including English captions to her recent posts really shows that. And that cake is truly beautiful, how do you dare cut into it?

Sorry but I disagree with what that IG page is suggesting. Just like the earlier photo that circulated in Jan/Feb, there is no way to be sure there is any handholding going on so what is the point of continuing to spread this narrative?  We know the agencies made a point of issuing a denial last time because they were bothered by it - probably not even so much because of the dating rumour itself (they were used to those by then) but because it came across as potentially unprofessional and we know HB and SYJ are far from that. No matter the nature of their relationship, they were always total pros on set. What makes anyone think they would be lounging around holding hands when not filming? Look, we know how close they are and how they interact with each other - the smiles, laughing, sweet side hugs, etc... but these are very different things compared to blatant couple gestures like kissing and hand holding. We have so many valid, supported- by- facts- reasons why we believe this ship is real- why do some insist on things that aren't true? For the record I see no hand holding. But do you know what I do see? I see a huge couch and two people deciding to sit on one end of it side by side when there is room to spread out. Remind you of anything ?

@eLizzalove how you summarized the CLOY journey this past year. I remember, as if it were only yesterday, those comments in this very thread doubting the impact of CLOY. And look where we are today - so much recognition. Usually shows that end their run at the beginning of the year are long forgotten by the end, but CLOY has had legs and will be remembered for its Hallyu impact in 2020. 

 

 

 

Gotta bring back my fave moment of the presscon. SYJ's face during this question is literally the "unamused" reaction here on Soompi  But she eventually remembers to laugh so HB can deliver his carefully prepared line about them "laughing" it off. 

 

 

Also during the day's media interviews, HB is super pleased with himself after answering that the reason to watch CLOY is because SYJ is in it

That's a nice list to be a part of, but I agree it's better to be recognized for talent rather than beauty (which eventually fades, and then there is always someone younger and prettier). SK culture is obsessive over "visuals". I honestly kind of cringe at some of the Naver headlines whenever there is a new photo released of SYJ / HB or other Korean actors . Like, they are good looking people I get it  Ultimately you have to provide something more substantial to keep people's interests. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy seeing all the CFs and from an actors perspective, they pay well;  but as a fan I'd rather see their acting. 

 

Not sure if I saw this posted, but here is the moment CLOY won Best Drama at the Asian Academy Creative Awards, and director Lee is in the top right corner. He seems a bit shocked? I'm so glad he received this recognition, as well as writer Park receiving the Visionary Award on the weekend during the 2020 MAMA

Even if they have no or little posting history, you can see all their reactions to other posts/threads, any changes in their user names, etc... such a neat little feature Soompi has. It's quite useful and revealing at times 

 

Anyway, I love that people have been sharing some lovely pictures, gifs and videos. 

 

Love this little moment during the TN presscon when HB bows after SYJ compliments him, which throws off her train of thought and she starts to giggle.
