Ep 12 was very good and ep 13 solid but I am not happy with Ji Won’s doubts despite the evidence, especially how they’ve built her up to support him though several scenes. We heard her tell him that she knew he was a good guy but then just one evidence, she’s doubting him all over again. It would have been better if she approached him to just discuss instead of being the ‘police’ etc.

I get it that the writer has to do a plot twist as we head into the final 3 episodes but I think it weakens her character totally.

Hyun Soo too has shown bits of mistrust in Cha Ji Won recently. Why did he go on a lone mission in the early morning in episode 13 without telling her?Its what has gotten them in the latest mess. She is a homicide cop.She would have sensed that he was being lured to a trap and stopped him from going. Why didn't he tell her the accomplice called him and threatened him that he knows her and Eun Ha? I understand why he did what he did.He confided in detective Choi that he is afraid that her involvement in his matters might break her. I also know he has communication issues because of his trauma but still. Cha Ji Won is emotionally strong and she is vocal about her concerns. He needs to be 100% transparent with her.

I have the same feeling too. I think the end of ep 13 was just a bluff... we have clearly seen all throughout the episodes that Hyun Soo loves Ji Won, even if they showed Daddy Min Seok telling him not to trust anyone. Also, Ji Won have stated time and again the she believes in her husband and that she will stay by his side no matter what. I believe that Hyun Soo showing that he's threatening Ji Won on CCTV was all part of a bigger plan. Both Jae Sub and Ji Won are smart, thankfully. With Gong Mi Ja's statement, that is if she pointed Hyun Soo as suspect, they must have pieced it altogether.

    This. I mean look at:

Okay, I think I'm starting to understand the knife scene. Yay! Thanks to all the posts here in soompi as well as in twitter and streaming sites, rewatching the episode 13's end and the preview also helped me. Whoooh. At least I'm not that stress anymore. I think Ji Won's doubt towards him had really hurt him badly. He was hurt, disappointed and maybe felt betrayed (to the point that his father's ghost who had stopped hunting him for a decade, came back). Now that Ji Won knows he's really Hyun Soo who is wanted for murder and tagline as a serial killer's accomplice, and not the loving husband Baek Hee Seong, Hyun Soo might have believed what his father said to him when he was younger (that his mother only loved the illusion of his father and could not accept him for who he was, then identified himself as his father and Ji Won as his mother) and, therefore, for a moment -- he doubted Cha Ji Won's love for him. Still, I wasn't convince that he will hurt his wife, that's why I was really confused when he grabbed the knife, I know he's hurt, but I couldn't believe what I was seeing, especially, after everything that had happened.

When he heard that the police were coming to their workshop, he might have puzzled it on his mind that he's being framed up and there's no way, he would be able to get hold of the situation. If he ended up in prison, the serial killer will continue to be out on the streets, worse, can hurt his family (especially his daughter) as well as his sister. At that point, he might be thinking that no one in the police will protect him, especially, if, the only one who he could rely on -- his wife -- already doubted him. Even if Cha Ji Won will believe in him eventually -- she will not be able to prove his innocence plus he's being framed up and he doesn't know who it was (Did he know that it was Baek Man Woo?), hence, he can't trust people anymore. If the serial killer already outsmarted him just like that, what could he do if he was put in prison? Nothing. And as seen in the preview, his wife is with him and they are holding hands while running xD that only means that their relationship is not as broken as one can thought after that knife scene.

Maybe Cha Ji Won just chose to trust in him during that knife scene especially after she heard Hyun Soo's hurting words. Plus, she's also quick to notice if something is wrong with her husband (like in the calling scene outside the police station), she might have doubted him in regards to the maid's murder case, but maybe her good memories and trust in her husband kicked in more, instead of that small doubt. Then, after they escaped the house, Hyun Soo had calmed down and Cha Ji Won reassured him that he trust in him, then Hyun Soo shared his plan with her. Or maybe, instead of that scenario, Hyun Soo already talked about his plan during the knife scene to her (very kdrama like) and she chose to trust in him, then, they got out of their house.

I have to agree with this. I think he is overcome with fear about the serial killer on the loose who could hurt his family. But more importantly, his greatest fear is CJW losing her trust in him completely and abandon him. That's what dad said in his hallucination..mum fell for an illusion and when she saw the true him, she abandoned the dad, Hae Soo and Hyun Soo. When he broke down at the bridge in episode 11, his first words were "you knew everything(his identity), why didnt you leave me? I dont understand."

Like we talked about with chingu @Jillia a few pages back and others. He is very VERY codependent on Cha Ji Won. Any small fracture to their relationship, if he feels like he might lose CJW. Any threat to her well being and now even Eun Ha. He breaks down and reacts very strongly to the point of acting irrationally.Setting and falling into his own trap is because he is not thinking straight.Of course our villain is smart. But he is just as smart as BHS and can play him at his own game. Both are apprentices of Do Min Seok only one became a full psycho. One didn't. If he can have that assurance that CJW is not going anywhere and that she trusts him. He will calm down and think straight. Did you see how he was able to get out of that tense situation with the traffickers in episode 9-10? He was able to get out after the phone call with CJW.

I trust my girl CJW to come through as always.she has consistently said this in different words but same meaning throughout episode 12 - 13.Unlike DHS 's mum, She is not going anywhere. She is not leaving him.

I am feeling bad for little Egg Tart. Until her parents cannot solve their problems they cannot come home or meet her. That girl can't stay away from her father even for 1 day I wonder how is she going to manage now. But then she has her parent's blood she can handle it :lol:

Come to think of it, Egg Tart might actually be a foil or in BHS words "an unpredictable variable" in BHS plans. She is a math genius like BHS that means she is very very smart. She is also very good at manipulation like DHS, CJW and BHS. Just study her interactions with Go Mi Ja from their very first interaction at the pharmacy. BHS uses his vulnerable looks and childlike voice as a teen and even now to manipulate his mother and deceive others into doing his bidding. Eun Ha also used her cuteness and sharp tongue to win grandma over. The time she went to the Baek's house along with grandma. She probably heard and saw a lot including the things that were said when they were arguing about BHS while he was still in a coma. I remember grandpa said something like " turns out the six year old was snooping around. Make sure she doesnt say anything." I think she might play a key role in cracking the serial killer case wide open.

It also gives me a deja vu about a similar situation in drama "two weeks".The villain tried to kidnap LJK daughter at the hospital. The daughter deduced from a conversation they had earlier that the ahjussi was a bad one and she shouldnt follow him. I can see Eun Ha remembering the mantra DHS taught her (1)not to follow strangers, (2)adults dont ask help from children (3) mummy, daddy and grandma would not send anyone to collect her'.If BHS tried to kidnap her. She will outsmart him. She is his younger version just not a psycho.

‘Flower of Evil’ Lee Joongi x Kim Jihoon begin battle of brains – one plot twist after another

     e25e8587bcb7033cd598a67dfd1e856a165d8818

With one plot twist after another, tvN’s Wed-Thu drama ‘Flower of Evil’ finds Lee Joongi and Kim Jihoon starting their own battle of the brains, deceiving each other.

Episode 13 (September 10) averaged 4.9% and peaked at 5.5% in Seoul, while averaging 4.5% and peaking at 4.9% nationwide. Among tvN’s target audience aged 20 to 49, the episode also averaged 2.1% and peaked at 2.6% in Seoul, while averaging 2.5% and peaking at 2.8% nationwide. (Based on all paid platforms, including cable, IPTV, and satellite. Source: Nielsen Korea)

The episode reveals one shocking plot twist after another, getting viewers excited. First, Do Hyunsoo finds himself falling into his own trap because he’s been too convinced that the accomplice in the Yeonju serial murder is Baek Manwoo.

Baek Manwoo claims he is innocent by even showing Baek Heeseong who’s pretending to be in a coma. At the cottage, Hyunsoo expected Yeom Sangchul to be there because the latter was ordered to kill him, but only the caretaker arrives. Gong Mija also tells Hyunsoo and Jiwon that it’s probably the maid who leaked the secrets.

But the whole thing turns out to have been staged by Baek Heeseong, who’s seen through Hyunsoo’s plans, leaving viewers shocked. Heeseong has instructed his parents to buy him enough time for him to plant the maid’s hair in Hyunsoo’s car trunk. Heeseong has planned his counterattack to frame Hyunsoo for the murder.

Meanwhile, Haesoo finds out someone’s been watching her (at the same time when Hyunsoo is at Manwoo’s). Hyunsoo rules out the possibility Baek Manwoo is the accomplice, and makes Moojin promise him to never leave Haesoo alone.

Another plot twist finds Jung Misook, the last known victim in the Do Minseok killings, still alive and locked up in an asylum. Ditched by Manwoo and Heeseong, Yeom Sangcul is trying to use Jung Misook, who knows the real identity of the accomplice, Heeseong, to pursue his own interests.

Moreover, Hyunsoo’s fingerprints are found on the maid’s body unearthed in a mountain. Jiwon is devastated that she has to suspect her husband of having committed the crime and put handcuffs on the man she loves.

Looking at Jiwon, Hyunsoo is devastated and even sees his father’s ghost urging him to betray her. With tears in his eyes, Hyunsoo is confused and says, “Who in the world would believe me if even you don’t believe me.” Turning cold, Hyunsoo holds a knife to Jiwon’s neck. The shocking ending left viewers at a loss for words.

The couple reaffirmed their love for each other after going through the phase of doubt, but their love has once again been put to the test. Viewers wonder what Hyunsoo really means by showing hostility towards Jiwon, and whether or not the couple can beat Baek Heeseong in this battle of the brains.

Flower of Evil airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:50pm.

You have a point on Eun Ha relying on Hyun Soo. But Eun Ha does love and trust her parents equally. It may seem like she loves her daddy more because he stays and interacts with her more at home. Its also obvious in terms of parenting and personality, Hyun Soo is the softer one. But she does love her mummy very much too.

Their biggest mistake was covering up for him all these years. Mummy seems to have have been the primary caregiver to BHS. She would have noticed that something was off during his formative/childhood years.Dad is a doctor too. They could have committed him to a psychiatric hospital. I guess their image was more important that helping their child. How could the almighty perfect Baeks have a son with mental health issues? Look now, he has spiralled out of control and is on a road of no return. Even if they treated his illness. He has already caused  so much damage. This is a common mistake people from affluent homes make when it comes to addressing mental health issues in their circles. They cuddle their children and expect miracles. It dont work like that. What Gong Mi Ja fears most will happen and it will happen in the worst way.She will lose her son, their reputation, be charged with obstructing justice by hiding evidence, conspiracy to murder, therefore prison. If she is unlucky her own son will end her life.

Hae Soo already compensated the victims' families even though I dont think she needed to. I dont believe in children paying for sins of their parents. They did not benefit from the serial murders like wealth instead their lives were ruined. [Personality] Lee Joon Gi breaks the mold and comes into bloom, once again, as an actor with irresistible charm

    d0dfc21845630a76fbd33260aea9384842a89106

I thought it was Lee Joon Gi. But it wasn’t Lee Joon Gi as I knew him. I’m talking about that ‘Lee Joon Gi’ who’s starring in tvN’s Wed/Thu drama ‘Flower of Evil.’

In fact, early on in the drama, people suspected Do Hyunsoo, who’s been posing as Baek Heeseong, of having committed the murder because he is the son of serial killer Do Minseok and a psychopath. Of course, from Episode 2 onwards, Do Hyunsoo has proven people wrong by, for instance, setting Kim Moojin free after having him locked up, and letting Park Gyungchun live despite what the latter put him through. In a turn of events after another, the doubts about Hyunsoo dissipated. Even then, however, there still remained a doubt that Hyunsoo might be the accomplice.

Later on, the real killer of the village head turned out to be his sister Haesoo. Hyunsoo’s persistent search for the accomplice to clear his name has dissipated viewers’ doubts. Then, doubtful viewers started to look at Baek Manwoo, who made Hyunsoo, a wanted suspect, pretend to be his son, as a possible killer. Such a plot twist after another has made people give a thumbs up to the meticulously-written script.

    894736e36176a302cc311335f624ffc8b67a61fc

But when I said “I thought it was Lee Joon Gi, but it wasn’t Lee Joon Gi,” I was not merely talking about the drama’s plot. It is also about the way the industry and viewers look at Lee Joon Gi as a leading actor. While in awe because this is not the same ‘Lee Joon Gi’ as they have seen, they are also surprised by his more mature acting skills.

Ever since he skyrocketed to stardom through his movie ‘King and the Clown,’ he has always wowed people with his acting, but how come these people suddenly began to see him in a new light through ‘Flower of Evil’? People sometimes say there’s a moment when actors break the mold they have built for themselves and evolve. It seems now is exactly that moment for Lee Joon Gi.

I have seen him in a wide range of works and he’s been such a multitalented and diligent actor. He has always done a great job, and has always worked hard. This time, he has also succeeded in giving a performance where he looks more comfortable with his role. From some point onwards, it seemed the talent and the hard work that he had put in stood out more prominently off-screen, instead of being absorbed naturally into the project he did. But in ‘Flower of Evil,’ the actor is hooking viewers into the story thoroughly as his character himself. He no longer looks like ‘star Lee Joon Gi,’ but he looks like ‘Do Hyun Soo’ in a crisis.

Watching Do Hyun Soo in the drama, viewers felt chills down their spines early on, and now feel sympathy and sadness for him. He was a complex, mysterious character because initially it was hard to stay whether this cold psychopath was pretending to be a husband and father in a happy family, or he really meant it. But when he told his sister he never loved Cha Jiwon, viewers’ hearts sank. However, as the drama went through ups and downs, both Do Hyunsoo and viewers have come to realize that what he’s been feeling is love. Viewers end up cheering on this desperate character Do Hyunsoo, and it’s because of Lee Joongi’s engrossing performance.

At this point I should mention Kim Chulgyu’s directing skills. In the hands of this director, who presented quality works such as tvN ‘Mother’ and KBS2 ‘On the Way to the Airport,’ Lee Joongi’s acting truly shines through. Director Kim’s magic touch does the trick for the other actors, as well. If anyone doubted Moon Chaewon could play a homicide detective, they should be silent now. He also chose Seo Hyunsoo, a lesser known actor, for the major role of Kim Moojin, and has helped him become a reliable actor.

Viewers would not be tearing up watching the Do Hyunsoo and Cha Jiwon couple who cry desperately, without Lee Joongi and Moon Chaewon’s acting skills, as well as the directing skills of the director who orchestrates the whole drama. This is why I agree with the tagline that describes ‘Flower of Evil’: intense, emotional chase thriller.

I am curious about the ending of ‘Flower of Evil,’ a mysterious viewing experience since it makes us see an actor in a new light and view a genre picture as a romance drama. It has been a meticulously-crafted, entertaining ride, so just a plain ‘happy ending’ would be out of the question. With only five episodes remaining, the drama is raising our expectations, making us wonder how many more plot twists there will be, and what kind of powerful ending ‘Flower of Evil’ will leave us with.
