I was trying my best not to think about those strong sexy hands but you've done it! (Another point - his strong hands!)

Btw I can't break noodles like that! How does he do that???

@cedarwoodI know right.usually when you open a pack of spaghetti, you split the pasta into two or three parts and then break but he broke the whole thing without splitting in one go.:oAlso about the veins, I first noticed them when he held IU in the cosmopolitan photoshoot for SHR.Those are the hands of a man who has been to the army, and have experienced hardship and tough training. Also look carefully in the close up pictures that expose his neck, he has this vein that just accentuates his sexy neck.I think if I had a man with those kinds of veins, I would be tempted to trace my fingers on them.:wub:Ok i stop now..kkkk these delusions are not good for my health.:D

@cedarwoodArggh for me it's those taekwondo hand veins when he is breaking the pasta.I can't unsee them.My eyes are obsessed with them. They are so manly and sexy.:wub:

Gimme back my life, you handsome bastard

@kiinnHahaha:D.Its a lost cause lets just accept that we have  caught the "Joon Gi disease" not just syndrome because syndrome come and go.There is no cure for this.I can totally visualise us soompi grown women if we started meditating like Wang Yo at Namoo Office with gongs(anyone remember that temple scene in SHR when he lost his mind).chanting" oppa oppa give us back our sanity you handsome bastard".Complete with Ah Yo Na(kill me heal me kdrama) emoji imagination of Lee Joon Gi's haunting beautiful face floating around.

So...it's been almost a year from her statement.  I'd say with the sneak peek of the abs from Singapore, it's likely true.

And he should maximize his potential WHEN he can.  "Hit while the irons hot" as the saying goes.

Fingers crossed for you! Luck sent your way!

I agree that the swooped- up hair is quite handsome but if it was the only style I would see on JG, it would get stale.  I  that his hair can be styled numerous ways and exhibit many looks even though it is a relatively simple short haircut.  If I had to complain about his hair, it would be when it tends to fall into the mushroom cap-bowl cut look, because it reminds me of a toddler's hair.  haha  But then again, one needs that length to do the swooped-up bangs.

WHERE IS THE ENGLISH SUB FOR MY EAR CANDY?   :unsure:Maybe I should bother Dramafever about carrying that show.-_-

Agreed about what you have said regarding the hair. And arggh noodle hairstyle, mushroom cap bowl hairstyle and middlepart wavy hairstyle drives me nuts.Lee Joon Gi manages to get away with these hairstyle faux pas because he is so pretty and carries himself with confidence when he is wearing them.

But seriously who invented those horrific hairstyles..they don't look flattering on any other man.One of the hairstyles make the men look like toddlers and the other makes the men look older than they are even when they are very handsome. As for females, I really hate it when they do the fried hair with bangs in dramas to show that they are nerdy or whatever it's very unflattering.

In the spirit of spreading the Joon Gi love list.

64.He loves animals (Dog lover).I think he had four dogs last time I checked but don't count me on this. But anyway I'm not into animals myself nor am I into kids..I find both extremely cute and that's it.But still any person, more so a guy and a huge celebrity at that who loves kids and animals that much makes feel feel they have a compassionate heart and that character trait in any person  to me is so attractive.

    65. His onscreen presence is yet to be rivaled.I think it's safe to say he is one of the first definitions of "second-lead syndrome" in Kdrama.Anyone who watched "My Girl" (2006)drama knows what I am talking about.no wonder it didn't take even a year before he was promoted to first lead status to lead TBDW in 2007.

Its not the other actors fault because usually it's that when you put alpha-male/female actor and beta-male/female actor together ..alpha actor dominate and everyone in the screen fades into the background even if they are equal in talent and looks.

In TBDW, his charisma is so strong it's hard to believe the actor was only 25 and it was his first drama as lead.

@cedarwood Unnie roll back to page 1683 and onwards of this thread where we covered the discussion on Lee Joon Gi causing second lead syndrome when he is not leading the drama. Now we can count you in, as one of the many patients who suffered the earliest cases of SLS syndrome because of him.welcome to the club:D.The above quote is just part of that discussion. That is why I made special emphasis to twist that a little bit, to discuss why Lee Joon gi is one of the best ever first male leads to appear in Kdrama land and why we only have "LJG syndrome" when he is the main character.

Besides, I wouldnt consider any drama that he is not the main character, "his drama".its just that his presence is so strong that it feels like its his drama when its not.Thank goodness it didnt take too long for him to start headlining dramas.I would have hated to have seen him go for years unnoticed, like other extremely talented actors, who have been stuck in secondary roles with his kind of talent. That would have been a travesty. Can you imagine a world without lee joon gi leading "historical fusion dramas" and "crime/thriller dramas?" or him just stuck with secondary lovesick puppy roles?

As for his "organizational robot" tendencies, (haha, it's a funny reference) I can see good and bad in that! Yes, he would keep things nice and tidy, but it might be exhausting if your storage ideas don't match! Looking at his latest trophy shelf, it's organized but not overly so as it is packed with items.

@pixelsticks Hi unnie. The operative word here is that the "organizational robot" tendencies (hahaha) are MILD not heavy that you have to go for therapy, as you have noted with the cabinet example. So I would say that's a positive.

Because I can be assured that if say his wife goes away for days or weeks at least when she comes back there will be e.g. no trail of both dirty and clean clothes on the floor in the bedroom, or a pet peeve of mine..one pair of socks on the sofa in the living room and the other damp it on the toilet floor in the bathroom(hahaha you get my drift) like how hard is it to take care of two socks and leave them in the laundry basket.(ok I'm sounding like a mum) but yeah some people are like that and it's normal for them.No dirty dishes left unwashed for one week etc etc..

It's in the little things. So when you get a guy which is very rare, that has medium to high standards of orderliness thats I think a very attractive trait to have.

Right. Then his critics keep blubbering on about how he doesn't have chemistry with his female first lead co-stars blah blah blah.Hahaha.He has done 5 dramas and won "couple awards" three times from all big 3 TV stations since he came out from the army.Thats not an easy feat when you are being awarded for acting skill and chemistry not popularity.see he won:

    Couple award MBC(arang and the magistrate)= 2012

Couple award KBS (Joseon Gunman)= 2014

Couple award SBS (Moon lovers) = 2016

He is definitely an effective 1st lead as far as romance is concerned.I have run through his whole filmography and not once have I ever had second lead syndrome in his drama. I have never wished that the 1st FEMALE lead should be with the second MALE lead when he is leading the drama.I have always rooted for him to get the girl not because of fan bias but he just portrays his character so damn well even when he was jerk-like as Kay in TBDW.

Aww.I am so happy that the point I made about "Lee Joon Gi  first lead Syndrome"resonated with some people here.I didn't think that would make it to the "Love" list.It was only meant to be a reply to @emeraldblue when she was talking about his kiss scenes.:)

@oyashirazu   thank you so much for summarising it in the list in a way that made sense.Sometimes my English written skills fail me.

Continuing with the why we love LJG list.

    84. "Candy in my ear" has to me revealed another aspect of LJG's personality that I suspected he had but needed confirmation. He is very neat and tidy. From the way his trophies are arranged in his cabinet, to the way the floor in his house is nice and shiny, to the way he packs his luggage.Lol, even his dogs look well taken care of.Some would say don't exaggerate it's just for TV's sake but my gut feeling tells me otherwise.I love me a neat guy anyday anytime. This clearly shows he is husband material. Should he decide to get married, He can be trusted to look after the home efficiently and effectively if wifey is away.

Word!!I can relate hahaha. My sister calls it "healthy undiagnosed mild OCD".From one so NOT patient to another.I have noted subtle hints of his healthy impulse for tidiness and being neat.see in the videos.

Here from KBS drama awards 2014 when he was removing those glittery things from Jeon Hye Bin's hair at 0:12-0:16 in the first video and at 0:58 to 1:12 in the second video when he is fixing IU's hair.In a culture where "skinship" is a big deal, he could just let Hye Bin's hair be and fight the urge to touch her hair. Also in IU's case, he could just wait for the stylist who was there to fix it but he couldn't resist the urge to run his fingers in her hair to fix it.:D

    Spoiler

    Spoiler

Also that just confirms our point on him being a gentleman.I don't think many K-actors would willy nilly touch a female co-star to fix her hair.He knows how to take care of his female co-stars.

Oh yes please..He needs to cross the oceans and see the hundreds of fans he has on this end.I would definitely sell my kidney(lol) and grab a visa and fly to the Americas for him since its the closest to Europe. But better still he can also bring his "sexy on" where I am in London(UK)many fans from different parts of Europe(France,Romania, Germany Switzerland,Spain Italy, Russia etc etc)would be more than happy to meet and welcome him here.I can bet people from the Americas would also fly to hear if Joon Gi came on this side.

Agree. The name would no longer be "thank you, asia tour" it would be "thank you,JG Hallyu Tour":D.I am not very creative with names but umm something along those lines then he can show these newbie hallyu stars how it's done..kekeke I can imagine the news headlines and hallyu YouTubers would have a blast covering the show especially from the States.

If he has the resources he could hold one in North America(USA) and one in South America(maybe Brazil or Argentina)I saw on the JG international fan map that he has a huge fanbase that side but if only one then the States would be more accessible even to those of us in Europe .Then one in Europe(UK).

Anyway, anywhere he chooses still oppa we know you read your fans opinions come over this side too.Give us a chance, us non-asian JG angels, to show you and shower you with our love and appreciation.we don't want to just cheer for you from a distance.

If they are really a good fan, they shouldn't really say those negative comments esp. if they can't say it objectively. They can't really say that a drama is good or bad if they have not watched it yet much less not even produced yet.

    And this too. wholeheartedly agree.

Please allow me to rant a little bit. This is NOT aimed at anyone who has given their opinion on this thread regarding criminal minds.I agree with whatever has been said so far, I think we are all in the boat on this matter. Its just me babbling on about nothing:).I really need to get this off my chest. Ok I begin, This ratings talk and knetz always drive me bananas and induces massive eye rolling whenever any casting news comes up for the following reasons:

1.As someone said earlier the traditional ratings index is so unreliable and also in a country so advanced with technology and internet, more and more people are streaming online more than watching actual TV broadcast. I heard, correct me if I am wrong, but they only survey 2000 households across the country. Now tell me in a country of about 50 million people, how can we trust such a system to produce accurate or at least reliable results.

2.Ok lets accept that as it is Korea's main yardstick for measuring k-drama success is ratings. What these "fans" are ignoring is the fact that about 98% of the time, what will bring in high ratings and even awards is beyond the actor's control.External factors such as internal politics, size of fandom can prevent or enable an actor to receive an award as we have seen in recent years. Ok so most remakes are not doing well on the domestic scene, some original scripts havent done so well either with the usual elements(fluffy romance, comedy, easy to follow plot etc) see for example "Oh my Venus"(had single digit rating all the way) and "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo".Also its not easy to get a project with perfect scriptwriter/script, perfect director/editor, perfect all stellar actors, perfect everything even if the actor is A-list.What the actors have in their control is their acting..there is no excuse for poor acting.

3.I think there are three main motivations for an actor working in a project and what would enable them in my opinion to be at their best. All of them are taken into account but one plays a main priority. Some choose the project because they like the writer(Song Joong Ki for DOTS and Lee Jong Suk for well at least three of his dramas). Some because they have worked well with the director(Jo In Sung="Its ok thats love" and "the winter that blows").Finally, the script/character. (Joon Gi seems to fit here) if you read or watch his interviews, he will usually say I chose this because for example I could relate to Wang So's pain, loneliness etc or I chose Arang because the script appealed to me..etc etc.

    Spoiler

So forcing an actor to deny a project(if it appeals to him) because writernim is newbie without even giving them a chance to showcase their talent is not the right way to go.we have seen even fairly good/experienced writers producing less than desirable work.e.g "heirs"(Kim Eun Sook),"Legends of the Blue Sea" (Park Ji-Eun) "Big" (Hong Sisters) I am still traumatized to date.

So these "fans" really need to let it go and relax.I am rooting for Joon Gi's continued success in everything but these fans need to calm down and let the actor do his job.:D I would encourage him to continue to follow where his heart leads him to.The desire for high ratings and awards has not and should not overshadow his passion for acting.I believe the true reason behind LJGs longevity in the industry is because he has not lost sight of the reason he became an actor.High ratings and awards are good, but they are by-products.

But Wang So was such an iconic role that I believe it's best that he distances himself from that role for a while.

Right.Joon Gi is actually a really smart guy.Like the way he totally did a 360 degree change after his first iconic role Gong Gil which is a historical role(2005).After delivering that performance,he goes and does a rom com(my girl)even willing to be second lead then(2006) and then changes again in (2007) to lead a crime thriller time between dog and wolf. His choices have been strategic so far.If he takes this latest one, I believe he will have thought carefully if not I won't be crying a river either. If they give him a historical again il still watch coz he is so.darn good, just want to see him in a drama already.

What sad is, 99% of innocent comments are from his fans. His fans are actually the ones putting him down which is sad.

Don't worry sis.Dont let it get to you.grab your popcorn and let's enjoy another year of Joon Gi goodness.:D

Ok on a serious note tho, they say "in the road to success, when difficult, unpopular decisions are being made, true support comes from unfamiliar places and strangers. How many times in your own life have friends and family told you "don't do this, don't go there, don't date him etc etc.. because they think "they know you best and want to "protect" you?"when you tell them something that seems like a scary choice?

But if you are determined to do something and know that you would be disappointed if you ended up wimping out before even trying, just because everyone around you especially your close friends and family are saying negative things.you still go ahead and do it. if it fails at least you tried..if it succeed then you have proven yourself that you are in charge of your destiny.

Lee Joon Gi seems to me like he is headstrong at least from his interviews.Obviously he loves his fans and listens and takes in constructive criticism but still when he has set his mind on something, he is going to do it anyway. At least that's how he did scarlet heart ryeo.People were saying oppa historical again?it's a remake no!IU is idol actor and they are too many idol actors!blah blah blah..My point is Naysayers come in all forms both haters and fans some with good intentions and some bad.  it's still discouraging regardless but he is strong..15 years in that k-entertainment industry is no joke.he got this.

    @missmaudy

Unnie.I agree on everything you have said. But if I were to put this in perspective I feel like it's not simply because they are crazy and what not, I feel most have good intention though they are totally showing and going about it the wrong way. They are not trusting him enough as any true fan should that he is capable and shown that he can exercise good judgement.

I would like to think it's just their frustration coming through that a phenomenal actor like LJG who is consistently delivering excellent performance with each project post military is in their opinion, not being acknowledged and awarded as much as he should on the domestic scene with the "big 3" stations he usually works with for drama, unlike his pre-military projects.

While many Dramas with lazy empty plots and popular trending under 30 to early 30s but mediocre or slightly above average(like A-)actors continue to be awarded and acknowledged by big 3 and sometime even Baeksang and Korean Drama Awards .Whereas few dramas with excellent actors, concrete writing and plots with depth and substance continue to be ignored or not being awarded enough.(this doesn't apply to Lee Joon Gi only). So naturally they are apprehensive plus now that Lee Joon Gi is on his second wave of hallyu fame, they want him to continue his momentum and stay there.

I will admit before they changed the offer to moon chae won and announced the current line up.I was not really keen on LJG taking up criminal minds(project didn't appeal to me, don't even know the American version) but now I'm fully on board let's see what this is all about.I am totally anticipating the newer, older, hotter version of Kay(time between dog and wolf)God it's been a decade already.he did that drama when he was only 25..and it was so good.

Me personally..I trust Lee Joon Gi.I know whether he takes this or not.i will support his decision 100%.With him, it's like booking a "no win no fee" lawyer.Excellence with Lee Joon Gi's acting whatever script is given is guaranteed like warranty, we can challenge that if the product does not satisfy we will return all your fees:D.

Ratings and end of year TV station broadcast awards mean nothing if your acting skills are stagnant and not improving, or fluctuate between excellent and poor performance as we have seen with other actors and actresses, that can't be good for your career long term.popular dramas come and go.Excellent dramas become classics and remain in people's memories forever and whether now or later excellent acting will continue to be acknowledged in due course.

  14. 44. He is such a fantastic model.his photo shoots are always interesting to watch if filmed and his pictorials are so fabulous to fangirl over.If I was a casting agent for a model agency or a client looking for an unconventional model.I would definitely pick him.if you put his headshots along hundreds of headshots of equally beautiful and talented actors and models..his look alone stands out..its so unique. No wonder he is the original flowerboy.Oh and bonus points for no plastic surgery or botox

@lisethvr Wooow, I didn't expect a third part of the WOWOW interview. Thanks for the link! I like this part:D I'll translate the subs asap.

Yay, I love your list chingus!!!

    15. His voice. Do I have to explain? If he'd stop to work as an actor some day (please, no!) he could dub movies. I'd watch them just for his voice.

    16. His hardworking personality. I admire that he hasn't thrown it away to this day and always tries to best himself with his next role.

    17. Man of survival: He's got all my respect for enduring life in a small room full of cockroaches...

    18. Man of talents 1: cooking skills. I'd love to taste his food some day

    19. Those arm veins...

    20. His versatile acting. He'd never allow us to grow bored of him or his roles.

    21. King of saeguk. He's a joy for everyone who loves historical movies/dramas.

And 22. just because he's 34 years old but "still" an adorable cinnamon role - not that 34 years is old

There's sooo much more. Perhaps we can make it to 100.? :D

to continue the list and keep the thread moving!!!

23.will you join me in crowning Lee Joon Gi as the King of versatility I know someone has already said it but il vary it a little bit.

    - His look is versatile.Example: cf, pictorials and music videos to see what iam talking about. He can go from ethereal beautiful, rock star sexy, to gentleman handsome, to kpop idol look, and when he wears hanbok, he can alternate between handsome, cute, sexy, beautiful within seconds.we have witnessed this in moonlovers and scholar of the night etc etc.

    - His roles  versatile. For example:He has acted roles with dual personalities more than once.see:Time between Dog and wolf=lee soo hyun/Kay.Iljimae=yong/iljimae/geom/. Moonlovers: Wangso/GwangJong.He is not afraid to act challenging roles like taesan and selling the character convincingly.Name one 31 year old actor who acted as a young Dad and made us root fot him and his daughter in this current crop of popular actors. His historical dramas are also versatile:vampire/King/prince/thief/swordsman/gunman/clown/magistrate.He also adapts his acting style and interpretation to suit the character. Some actors who shall not be named act the same way for every role that quickly becomes boring after a while.

-His music is versatile.he can sing ballads, electro-pop, hip hop, not limit to the genres he samples.sing in Japanese, English,Korean, Chinese.

-His martial arts are versatile. He has mastered several:Martial arts (Tae Kwon Do 3rd degree, Hapkido 1st degree and Taekkyeon 1st degree)

    24. He loves kids.A man like that will instantly gain bonus points with women.I always ship lee joon gi and babies and kids.

    25. He is incredibly humble and genuine. He sees himself as an artist working towards improving his craft. In his interviews when he says this, you would think that maybe he is just being humble and doesnt want to boast when they compliment him, but somehow maybe im biased but when he says this it feels genuine.

26.He has good manners. We saw this at the sbs drama awards 2016.Bows,greets and compliments his seniors(Kim Sung Ryeung).Bows and greets his juniors(Lee Min Ho).

  16. @LyraYoo omg you are a true heroine.I have been dying to see the healing camp for a long time.I hope no one violattes the copyright again.Thank You:wub:

Hmm talking about the 'King and the Clown' director.I really wish he directed dramas too.He seems to know his stuff and knows what separates) super actors(Lee Joon Gi) A to A+ acting level /from super stars whose profession is acting (pretty much every current IT actor on the Korean Acting scene) A- to B- acting level.love all of them K-Drama oppas but there are levels to these things.look at what he had to say in this interview about Dong Ju and I quote :

    https://yooahinsikseekland.wordpress.com/2016/06/30/director-lee-jun-ik-reveals-why-he-didnt-give-dongju-to-yoo-ah-in-more-international-festivals-for-the-throne/comment-page-1/

"During the filming of Sado (The Throne), it was scheduled for me to start filming Dongju after I wrap up Sado. I haven’t told anyone about needing actors for the movie. Yet, Yoo Ah In(YAI) came to me and asked, ‘you’re not going to let me do it?’. I told him, ‘no, punk!’ (laughed).”“During Sado filming, I knew that YAI will become the “it” actor.“If YAI played Dongju, I think that he will play the role wonderfully. But because of his super star status, if he played the role, people would say, ‘YAI as the poet Dongju’. If YAI played him, Dongju will always be remembered by the people as YAI. So, I felt sorry for the poet Dongju,” he smiled.

“Now Kang Haneul is a rising star because of the movie Twenty but he’s been cast prior to the release of Twenty. I chose Haneul because of the movie Age of Innocence. The KHN I chose is not the KHN you know today…hahaha. My criteria for choosing the actor who plays Dongju was someone unknown, but who acts well. But one year and a half after casting him, Haneul has become very famous. I’m so proud of him,” he said laughing.

He went on, “In the case of Dongju the movie, I was worried that Dongju the poet would be overshadowed by the leading actor. I wanted to hear ‘Dongju played by KHN’, I didn’t want to hear ‘YAI playing Dongju’. Then he added while smiling, “I really love Yoo Ah In, and I really like him. He’s a cool chingu, but he’s too popular to play Dongju.”

The earliest character that proves JG is on the upper level acting wise, why he needs to be seeking these kinds of directors/writers and doesnt really need mushy, fluffy work to remain relevant is Gong Gil. The latest work that proves JG is Wang So.Lets look at Wang So, JG embodied Wang So and became wang so, in the time he was playing in moonlovers, it wasnt 'Lee Joon Gi playing Wang So'. it was 'Wang So played by Lee Joon Gi'. There was no trace of Lee Joon Gi whatsoever in that drama.Same with Gong Gil.It was Gong Gil played by LJG not Lee Joon Gi playing Gong Gil. "LJG=Wangso" and "LJG=Gong Gil". Its mind blowing to see that these personalities/characters were created by the same actor (one so feminine so elegant making all women jealous and the other so masculine and sexy he burst your ovaries). How nice it must feel when your debut(first ever time as main lead) becomes a groundbreaking record and what an immerse amount of talent you need to have to create to set this kind of record(especially for Gong Gil) and doing it all when he is only 23 years old.King and the Clown is one of the highest grossing Korean movies of all time and well received domestically and the other "Scarlet Heart Ryeo" is one of the highest selling dramas internationally in 2016 and could easily be in the top three for most loved and memorable drama in 2016  to the international audience.

ahahahahah in every successful drama and chemistry, shipper always sailing LOL, it won't be just in case one of the lead already married LOL

If many people reall ship them it means their drama was success :D, the rumour will be calm down as soon as time goes by when both of them have do their new project

but honest, from all Joon's drama, for me his best romance and chemistry was with IU -LOL - oh goshh until now i still rewatch SH drama

The best couple in 2016 beside Song-Song Couple off course Lee-Lee Couple aahahhaha

Agree.Song Song reached a new level above so soo couple hahaha.Song Song has reached a point where they don't want them to just date but get married and even some really strange rumours..they say they just laugh it off and move on when interviewed about it.And for Joon Gi it's not the first time anyway, he has been rumoured with about three celebs iu is number four.but all this mayhem will get buried with time.this will pass too.

Do I ship him with IU?yes I do big time.I think they really do bring out the best in each other and I believe 99% ship with good intentions just wanting them to be happy and love and be loved as payment for all the joy and blessing they give as through their  talents, art and personality.we can't pay them with money but we can only wish them only good things albeit others are doing the wrong way and being extreme.Of course we don't know the full picture since we only get what we see via screen interaction but they is only so much you can hide and admittedly from sbs drama awards to the fan meet, they kinda fueled it themselves but it's not like they didn't know, they are not newbies in the industry both are experienced with almost a decade now for iu and a decade and some for JG.

Do I go on instagram and social media and spam their account and start urging them to date? OMG No!!!that's ridiculous no sane person or true fan would do that knowing IU's situation.there is a soompi thread made for fangirling about them just like this one where we can talk about our fantasies and fangirl to our heart's content and get the latest news on our dear idols but maintain boundaries.

Will this hurt them long term careerwise?Nah..anyone who is a real fan of Lee Joon Gi knows he is a tough shell to crack read his interviews and see the really difficult things he has hard to go through this is just a drop of water he will be ok and il be waiting for his awesome acting and drama this year.will IU be ok? yap.she is a tough cookie too.she actually really inspires me, the amount of hate she gets for her acting, music, and pretty much her just being her and she keeps going and never gives up.they might get hurt emotionally but they is a reason why they remain relevant all these years, it's because they are great artists and good people no one can take that away from them.so whether what they have is friendship or more or whether they are rumors or not or whether their personal lives are chaotic right now.they will be ok.As for me whatever they do, all I will do is Cheer and Support.one love to all JG Angels. You are all the best!!!

  18. Hmm lets see JG previous dramas and movies that have zero action and where he was the lead:

    movies:

    1. "The king and the clown" (his iconic role that shot him to stardom had no action, not a crime thriller) pre-military

2."virgin snow", (straight up romance, no action, not crime thriller) pre-military

3."never said goodbye" (straight up romance no action not even crime thriller) post-military

    dramas:

1."hero"(journalist) lol the female lead was the one kicking richard simmons and defending him from loan sharks (crime but 'slice of life' kinda thing/comedy) pre-military

2."two weeks" (he was a fugitive who couldnt even hurt an ant I remember watching on viki and everyone in the comment section was screaming oppa beat their asses) post- military.

If anything I wouldnt be so puzzled if it was said Lee Joon Gi was in danger of being type cast as a historical drama actor(2014, Joseon Gunman(KBS), 2015 Scholar of the Night (MBC),2016 Scarlet Heart Ryeo(SBS) because after all he is the King of Historical Drama. There is no discussion here, no ones does saeguk as best as him. From the way he rocks hanbok costume, to the way he talks, to the way he carries himself in the dramas and the mane of glory:wub:.If he takes Criminal minds he is going back to KBS where he received excellent actor award for "joseon gunman" and then received outstanding korean actor award at the seoul international award for the same drama.Again this goes to show that domestic low-rating or whatever. All the three major korean broadcasters pd-nim recognise his acting chops. No fluffy rom-coms but year after year he's still scooping the awards and remaining relevant in the industry.I just recently saw a Korean Male Actor global marketing index something. He is number three number one being Kim Soo Hyun, two being Song Joong ki and he is beating Lee Min Ho and Park Bo Gum. If pd-nim and casting director received historical script and sat down in the office meeting, they would ask who is a popular actor who can appeal to international audiences and act the hell out of this character,im sure his name would be one of the first choices. But having said that even if he acted in another one this year, he still is not typecast even his historical roles are diverse and his characters differ from one drama to the other :

    1. Iljimae- one side of his character  yong-ie was a hooligan who was being beaten left and right, scammed and funny as hell

    2. Arang and the magistrate-I wouldnt call it an action or crime drama per se..it was more a fantasy/romance with sprinklings of action and here was where it showed that JG has the ability to do romance if he wanted to.Sato:phew:

3.Scholar of the Night...Vampire..rarr a delicious looking one at that:wub:

    4. moon lovers..i dont even need to discuss this one, everyone knows this was an acting manual, the blue print being lee joon gi:wub::wub:

But whatever he chooses, am in and if you are damn good at a specific genre act the hell out of it and be the best not mediocre just like how I love Gong Hyo Jin as " rom-com queen", versatility is key..your acting style and character should be different from one drama to the other even if you are doing the same genre nt just chaebol all the time or crying optimistic poor girl in every drama and just changing the name of the character..blah blah..yawn.. and yeah why is no one pairing Ha Ji Won and Lee Joon Gi, action or historical..i can imagine the intensity, the sword fights, the charisma, the beauty and just straight up bad-assery. Coz I know if ha ji won is doing Historicals there is no way she will be a wimpering damsel in distress..see damo, hwang jin yi and empress ki for evidence. As for modern drama bring NSS Agent  Kay/ Lee joon Gi from The time between Dog and Wolf and North Korean Special Agent from the King 2 Hearts Kim Hang Ah/Ha Ji Won..yum

I agree. I hated Boy Before Flowers intensely before it aired (because I was a big fan of the Japanese version) but I was totally bowled over by how beautiful the korean remake was.

Hence for me, I would like to give Criminal Minds a chance since it will be a new role for Joon Gi. (im afraid) He is now being typecast into that action guy but im willing for him to stretch that vein into this one.

I would totally want him as Hotch and for him to bring a new flavor into the role. That would be challenging. As Derek, he would be perfect I guess

Again, the success of a drama is a hit or miss but really depends  heavily on the production team. If it is DOTS production team with a good screenwriter, they can pull this off and own everyone.

Im still waiting on Kingdom though...

Lee Joon Gi typecast?no no no.I respect your opinion but if there is one actor who has demonstrated his versatility its lee joon gi.yes he does his action stunts in his movies, yes he mostly leans towards intense dramas and yes according to arirang report he is the number korean action actor but still he is also one of the most versatile actor just like ha ji won is the number one korean action actress who is also known as queen of versatility as far as Kdrama is concerned. If there is one who has been typecast as an action actor I would say Ji Chang Wook(see healer,k2,warrior baek dong so even the lotte web drama he was a sexy bodyguard agent)well he said it himself during the press conference but again empress ki and hero(which he acted with joon gi) showed he can act well in other genres too.
