I am fine dear chingu @valsava and hope you had a great time (did you mention that you were in Reno recently?). Yes, Seung-hui bought steroids on line but was intercepted by her father.  With her injuries and everything gloomy looming over her life-span as a pole vaulter, her father consulted Kang Jin-ah, (played by actress, Kim Hee-jeong) to coach her.

Congratulations to KBS production team and actors of "SNOWY ROAD/PATH" for winning an award under the TV Category in this year,  67th Prix Italia 2015 which was held (19 - 24th September) in Turin, Italy.

Snowy Road was produced in conjunction with this year celebration of 70th Anniversary Korea Independence Day.

THE TV CATEGORY

Moving on to Fiction, South Korea climbs onto the highest podium in the TV Movies and Mini-Series category with a story of suffering and slavery: “Snowy Path” by Lee Na-Jeong, the drama of a girl who was forcefully separated from her family during the Japanese occupation of Korea. The jury calls it a story that is “well directed and told with sensitivity. A story which has great meaning because of its tie-ins with human trafficking and sexual slavery, which are still ongoing in Europe today "Aggiungi un appuntamento per oggi.”

Source : PrixItalia

Wow, Snowy Road is still racking up the awards and is still on the film festival circuit too!  Very cool.  And maybe that's also why KBS won't put it on youtube yet.  Meh.  Really want to see it with subtitles at some point.

Don't know if you all saw these already, but in lieu of complete subs, at least there are subbed trailers and clips out there.  Here is the clip from Prix Italia, and finecut also has the trailer (that one's a direct link, btw.  For some reason their website is not set up for streaming - it will download and open in your media player of choice whether you want it to or not, so I just put the direct link).

It also won for best film at the Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival (China), and Kim Sae-ron won for best actress at the same festival.  It will also be at the upcoming Black Nights film festival in Estonia in November (source: finecut).

There's an article and clip of the festival from KBS news about the Prix Italia award HERE.  It includes an interview with the director.  There's also another article from KBS about the other recent awards from the Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival.  According to those articles, KBS1 will rebroadcast Snowy Road on September 29.

One more photo from Prix Italia from KBS, of director Lee Na-jung accepting the award:

Congratulations to the Snowy Road team!

Last episode of the summer 2015 drama special season, The Brothers' Summer:

And I think we missed posting Live Shock when the subbed version came out on youtube:

credit: KBS World TV

The third "season" (I still think that's a silly way to refer to them) starts at the end of October?  Or am I understanding wrong?  I can't seem to find much yet about the next special, which would be the first of the next "season", lol.  There are some articles saying that Ha Seung Ri and Bong Tae Gyu have been cast for the upcoming season, I think.

My favorite kid actor Ko Woo Rim and Hwang Chae Won in cute hanbok for drama special.

I don't remember watching this one but will check out later. From the description these kids are the younger version for adult character by Kim Dae Myung and Park So Dam

I think I watched almost all the new season and notice that this time around there so few dramas with kids. And the adult actors also talented yet underrated industry.

Dara and Kim Jung Hoon show sweet chemistry in 'Missing Korea' poster

Dara-kim-jung-hoon_1445874054_af_org.jpg

Get ready for Sandara Park's new drama, 'Missing Korea,' with Kim Jung Hoon!

She posted the poster for her upcoming series via Instagram on October 26, writing enthusiastically, "'Missing Korea' coming soon~!!!" This is the main poster for the drama, which will be broadcast through Naver TV Cast starting next month.

The drama will take place in a fictional 2020 in which both North and South Korea are exchanging civilities and cooperating economically.  In order to also share in culture, the countries decide to host the very first North and South Korean joint Miss Korea competition. Despite the political background it appears to have, the drama will primarily be a romance comedy.

Dara plays a contender for the title as a representative of North Korea, acting opposite Kim Jung Hoon, who is an entertainer and singer. Other actors include Baek Bo Ram, Ha Eun Seol, Kim Jung Suk, Lee Ji Hyun, and Bitna.  Produced by KBS, 'Missing Korea' will air six parts starting on November 3 and later on it will air through KBS Drama Special slot.

@Felicia Soh, hi... how are you?   Thank you for all the updates. Sorry to be MIA. Playing catch-up after my computer was at the shop.

I am so glad that "Snowy Path" won the award in Italy.  I hope someone will sub it already, or better yet - that KBSW will download it for us.

Thank you also for the information on the web-drama that will probably make it to KBS eventually. Interesting that KBS is going into web drama as well now.

@ecs707a, wow.. Thank you for all the news of awards for "Snowy Path." You are probably correct in that being the reason that KBSW would not upload it yet, to let it run it's course of the festivals. Thank you for the clips, photos, and the articles. Thank you also for links to "Live Shock" and "Brothers Summer". I still need to watch both.

Last night I watched an older Drama Special (there are actually quite a few I need to catch up on). It is called "A Still picture" aka "Still Cut" with Namgung Min.  It was a sad look at how life sort of brings us down as we age. It brought to my mind a line from Shellye's "Ode to the West Wind": "I fall upon the thorns of life, I bleed." (also comparing youth to adulthood).  Youth is full of idealism. Middle age may bring compromises that are often in conflict with values we hold dear.

Haha, is there anyone who's seen them all?  There are so many, even just on youtube.  And outside of that, even more, but harder to find.  I recently watched a bunch of almost randomly chosen older drama specials too.  Of those, Yeonu's Summer and Youth were my favorites.  Actually, now that I say that, Yeonu's Summer was one I sought out on purpose because of the writer and director (same as Snowy Road; must have had it on the brain).  And I'm not sure if I knew or not, but I now see that Youth was also written by the same writer.  Funny.  I guess I like that writer.  Give her a real, full drama KBS!  I promise I will watch it.  Ha.

I've got to catch up on the recent ones too.  The only one of this year's that I've seen is In Search of Argenta.  But then, there are so many old ones I still want to watch...now I might have to add Still Cut too. :)

KBS has been broadcasting a few web dramas for a while now, haven't they?  I just didn't realize until recently.  I started watching Prince's Prince a couple of weeks ago.  (Which is kind of equally terrible and entertaining, btw.  Sometimes there's a right time for brainless, bite-size episodes though.)  It was on TVCast, and then a week later on KBS (late at night), but viki also got the license for it, so that's where I've been watching.  It aired over the summer.  Looks like they're giving the more recent ones a very slightly nicer timeslot than that one got.

Here's the official site for the KBS web dramas.  Or the ones they had over the summer, at least.  I don't see the one mentioned above there yet.

@ecs707a, I too, loved Yeon-Wu's Summer. I think Han Ye-Ri is a wonderful actress. I want to see more with her. And I loved "Youth." I think I knew it by a different name at the time. In any event, I like Seo Young-Joo a lot  (Ever since I saw him in the movie "Juvenile Offender" for which he received Best Actor award at Tokyo Int'l Film Festival). I am super excited that he was cast in Kim Jee-Woon's upcoming film "Secret Agent" along side Song Kang-Ho.   I  also like Kim Heung-Soo. (I thought he was amazing as the crazed king and his alter-ego in "The Night Watchman".

Thank you for the link to the KBS Drama special page. Let see how many will show up on KBSW.

Today's Drama Special in Korea is "Unfamiliar Story."

Huh, there are some drama specials on viki now.  Oddly, though, they have them kind of all over the place: some on their own and some in categories, like school-themed or rom-com.  Some subbed, some not yet (the subbed ones appear to have come with KBS subs, like some of the other old KBS dramas they've added recently).  Most of them are already on KBS World's youtube channel (and I'm not going to list those), but some are not, which is nice.  I thought I'd make a list of the ones viki has that aren't on youtube already.

Hair Day - March 27, 2015
Yeongdeok Women's Wrestling Team - June 5, 2011 (not subbed yet)
Pandemonium - November 18, 2012
Mellow in May - December 9, 2012
Strawberry Ice Cream - September 18, 2011 (not subbed yet, and very, very strangely placed in the rom-com category.  If you've seen it...yeah.  It doesn't go there.)
Funny Woman (part 1 / part 2) - April 3, 2015 (yay, I finally get to watch this one!)
Human Casino - September 25, 2011 (not subbed yet)
Cupid Factory - July 31, 2011 (not subbed yet)
Princess Hwapyung's Weight Loss - June 26, 2011 (not subbed yet)

So it looks like the 2011 ones aren't subbed, but the rest are.  And I may be missing some because like I said, they're scattered all over the place, haha.  Anyway, I was glad to see that there's a way to watch at least two of the four drama specials from the first "season" of the 2015 season.  Still not the one I wanted to watch the most, but maybe soon...

Song Ha Yoon in drama Chagall's Birthday. Well, will check it out later.

That's an old one though, right?  One of the 2013 ones.  I'm sure it's on youtube.

The latest two drama specials uploaded by KBS World, Strange Fairy Tale and Trains Don't Stop at Noryangjin Station, in case anyone missed them:

Haven't watched them yet.  They skipped the first episode of this latest "season" of the 2015 season, did they not?  Fake Family?  Oh well.  I did watch Red Moon/Crimson Moon from earlier this year finally, and thought it was interesting.  Not amazing, but an entertaining twist on the story.

And there are have been a few more old specials added to viki that aren't on youtube, or maybe I just missed them when I made my list before, lol.  Swamp Ecology Report is there (and I did finally watch it after wondering about it all this time), and one of my favorites, The Scary One, the Ghost and I.  And again with the weird categorization, because they've got that one in the "school" category even though it has almost nothing to do with school at all.  There's a girl in a school uniform, though!  That must have been the criteria, lol.  And The Great Gye Choon Bin (I think is not on youtube?) is now on viki too.  I watched that one a looong time ago.  :)

The latest from KBS World:

And although I almost never watch them right away, I just finished watching this one.  Went into it totally blind, was actually just going to watch the beginning because I needed to figure out the name of one of the characters so I could add it to dramawiki, but then ended up watching the whole thing.  Yikes.  I don't think I ever want to watch it again, but it was really good.  Just kind of...devastating, actually.  So if that's your thing, definitely watch this one.  Very, very good, just not an easy watch.

Quiet in here :)  I've missed the single-ep drama specials, but totally enjoyed/am enjoying both Page Turner and Babysitter.

And there's another short drama coming up too...a bit from dramabeans:

Quote

Enter Baek-hee Has Returned, a four-episode project based on an intriguing premise: Set on a quiet island, a woman named Yang Baek-hee, described as a Scarlett O’Hara in the past, returns after 18 years away with a new identity. That’s mysterious, and I trust that director Cha Young-hoon can make something interesting of it (or at least really really pretty to look at), having previously done the dramas King’s Face, Gaksital, and Joseon Gunman. Writer Im Sang-choon wrote the short 2014 SBS Plus drama Dodohara (aka Be Arrogant) starring Girl’s Day’s Yura.

So: Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho will run through the end of May, and Baek-hee Has Returned will begin airing on June 6. Beautiful Mind will now premiere on June 20.

Also, I totally missed this last month, but Snowy Road won another award!  This time for best drama at the 28th Korea PD Awards.  How cute is it that young Jong Boon (Kim Hyang Gi) and grown up Jong Boon (Kim Young Ok) got to present the award to Lee Na Jung?

Both Snowy Road and last year's drama special The Wind Blows to the Hope/The Wind Blows Where Your Heart Is also picked up awards at the Worldfest-Houston Film Festival earlier this month.

*insert my usual rant about the lack of subs for Snowy Road and certain 2015 Drama Specials* lol

Seriously, those two are the ones I wanted to see the most.  I watched at least parts of both of them raw anyway though.

Another award for Snowy Road!  This time, it won for best TV Movie from the Banff World Media Festival (source).

A couple of photos from KBS:

There are some new drama specials coming up, but KBS has been pretty silent with the news updates.  Anyway, the new specials will air from July-September (I think from the first week of July through the first or second week of September), according to what news I can find (this article from a month ago already, mostly).

But here's a bit of news about one of them, at least (from dramabeans).

Lee Ji-hoon scores lead role in Drama Special

by javabeans | May 5, 2016

Lee Ji-hoon (Six Flying Dragons, Gold Rainbow, School 2013) has been cast in the lead of a KBS Drama Special titled Legendary Shuttle, and my first thought was that he oughtta team up with tvN’s Woman With a Suitcase for your ultimate transportation-themed drama. *waits for laughter* *waits* *waiiiiits* *pouts in disappointment*

(Can you believe, I decided to write this post purely for that lame joke? Sometimes it’s really the little things that keep you going, folks. Find the little joys in life and milk them.)

Annnyway, just as Woman With a Suitcase isn’t really about suitcases, Legendary Shuttle doesn’t seem to be much about shuttles, either. Set in the microcosm of a school mirroring a jungle-like society (I interpret that to mean wild and harsh), the story centers around one boy’s desperate struggle for survival. Lee Ji-hoon is set to play an up-and-coming tough guy within the bullying circle of an elite high school in Busan, who’s got a secret in his past and an unexpected charm.

It’s interesting that Lee Ji-hoon would go back to playing a high schooler now, after making his debut playing a wayward student in School 2013, after which he took on older roles. But he still looks rather young, and it’s nice to see him stepping out of background supporting roles and taking a lead, even if it’s only in a short Drama Special. And we’ll be seeing more of him other than in Legendary Shuttle, too, with roles in JTBC’s upcoming fantasy sageuk Mirror of the Witch and the Korean-Chinese web drama Gogh’s Starry Night, which will be featuring a parade of stars in leading and cameo roles.

Legendary Shuttle will air in August.

Via News1

And from the May 27 edition of News Bites:

Newbie actor Seo Ji-hoon made his debut in tvN’s hit thriller Signal, as the evil privileged high school student who was behind the horrible incident that changed Lee Je-hoon’s family forever. He’s following that up with a leading role in the new KBS drama special Legendary Shuttle, alongside Lee Ji-hoon (Six Flying Dragons). Seo will play the school jjang, and Lee will be a member of his tough circle. The drama special about bullying in high schools will air in August. [Xports News]

Daum currently has the cast list as: Seo Ji Hoon, Kim Jin Woo, and Han Jae Suk, so I'm not sure if Lee Ji Hoon is still considering this one or not.
