Actors fight for their money : Delayed payments for film and television casts and crew have long been an issue

06225125.jpg

There’s nothing worse than working hard and not getting paid for it. But it turns out that many people in the entertainment industry, including production staff and even some well-known celebrities, have been denied the paychecks that they were promised. Five celebrities, including actors Ko Soo, Kim Woo-bin and Koo Hye-sun, recently revealed that they had not been paid for work they had done years ago, and industry insiders claim that the situation is much worse for those who work behind the scenes.

The on-going controversy started when the Korea Entertainment Management Association (CEMA) announced an official boycott of an advertising agency that failed to pay Ko and Kim for work they completed in 2012 and 2013, respectively. The agency is said to have worked with Ko and Kim in August 2012 and March 2013, but has failed to pay either of them even after being sued by both actors.

“Recently, the number of cases in which people aren’t getting paid for their labor in the entertainment field is growing,” said CEMA in its official statement on Nov. 30. “This is damaging people from all over entertainment as well as those working in the field with good intentions. We at the CEMA have recognized that this is a serious matter, and we are working to solve the problem.”

The agency is still refusing to pay the actors on grounds that it “has no money to pay with,” but both Ko’s agency and Kim’s agency are still fighting for their stars to get their money. “We’re keeping up with the legal measures… We’re not planning on giving up until we have a solution,” said Sidus HQ, Kim’s entertainment agency.

Plastic Surgeons Claim These 21 Idols’ Faces Are Mathematically PERFECT

According to specialists, the human face can be geometrically mapped, and the aesthetic measurement of ones face is directly correlated with the famous ‘golden ratio’ or ‘Fibonacci’s sequence’ (1.618).

Plastic surgeons also take this into account when performing operations. Specialists have mapped out idols’ faces and found that the facial structure of these 21 idols especially matches the golden ratio, and that’s why they’re perceived as being so beautiful.

Famous western examples of this include Angelina Jolie and Tom Cruise.

Plastic surgeons in Korea compiled a list of idols’ best facial ratios, and here are 21 Korean celebrities with perfect facial ratios:

Go Soo In Talks To Make His First Drama Comeback In 2 Years

Go-Soo.jpg

Go Soo is in talks to make his first drama comeback in two years.

On June 5, a source from a broadcasting station stated that the actor had received an offer for the upcoming SBS drama “Cardiothoracic Surgery” (literal translation) and shared, “He’s discussing it positively at the moment.”

On the same day, his agency BH Entertainment confirmed, “Go Soo has received an offer for ‘Cardiothoracic Surgery’ and is currently reviewing it.” If he joins the drama, it will be his first drama in two years.

“Cardiothoracic Surgery” will reunite director Jo Young Gwang and writers Choi Soo Jin and Choi Chang Hwan of SBS’s “Defendant.”

The drama is slated to air this September and will be about a cardiothoracic fellow whose mother is waiting for a heart transplant, a cardiothoracic attending who holds absolute authority over his fellows, and a cardiothoracic resident who miraculously escaped death and chose to become a doctor.

Go Soo debuted in 1998 and has appeared in various dramas such as “Piano,” “Age of Innocence,” “When A Man Loves A Woman,” “Will It Snow For Christmas?” “The Golden Empire,” and “The Flower in Prison.” He starred in films “Lucid Dream,” “The Tooth and the Nail,” and “The Fortress” last year.

[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Go Soo Considering Drama "Cardiothoracic Surgery" by "Defendant" Creators

photo979444.jpg

Go Soo might be making his drama comeback soon, as the actor has received an offer from upcoming SBS drama "Cardiothoracic Surgery", created by the PD and writer team behind hit series "Defendant" starring Ji Sung. Go Soo is reportedly considering the offer positively, while we also have some information on the drama itself.

I'm not going to lie, the title is an absolute snooze. Not that chest surgery is not "exciting", the title is simply unimaginatively straightforward. Knee-jerk first reaction aside, it all sounds very epic and dramatic, which is what I have read that the team behind "Defendant" are very good at. Returning for the drama are PD Jeong Dong-yoon and writers Choi Chang-hwan and Choi Soo-jin.

"Cardiothoracic Surgery", which is scheduled for a release in September tells the story of a cardiothoracic surgery fellow trying to save his mother in need of a heart transplant, a cardiothoracic surgery professor who holds his fellows' lifeline in his hands, and a cardiothoracic surgery resident who chose her career following her miraculous recovery from the brink of death. The drama is expected to deliver a realistic view into the lives of doctors.

I can't say Dramaland needs more medical dramas and hospital power struggles, but if the team behind this are good at solid melodramas, then this might be one of the good examples of its type. Let's see how this production goes.

Nice to come here and see updates. Thank you @rubie, @willenette, @emgphils

Good news. Ko Soo has accepted the role for the new drama.

Maybe @thanhdda10 can have this reflected in the thread's title.

[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Go Soo Accepts Lead in "Cardiothoracic Surgery" By the Makers of "Defendant"

photo981322.jpg

Go Soo has accepted the previously offered role to upcoming medical drama "Cardiothoracic Surgery", and with the production looking rather glad about it, it seems like a win-win situation for the actor and the creators of hit drama "Defendant". I'm still not into this premise or title, but good drama doesn't have to be fresh drama.

Go Soo will be playing Park Tae-soo, a man who has been living as a thoracic surgery fellow for 4 years in order to get a heart transplant for his mother, and who is conflicted between his wish to save her, and his beliefs as a doctor. It looks like our hero may have to make some tough decisions in order to keep his loved one alive, and perhaps not all of them will be ethical. I can definitely enjoy such a struggle if the writing is solid.

Drama officials have commented "After Mr. Go Soo received the offer for the role of Tae-soo, he read the synopsis and found it very interesting. Due to this, he accepted very quickly, so the drama's production is now in full swing. We ask for your interest moving forward". Go Soo is an actor I haven't experienced much, but I definitely trust a team who hires Ji Sung. "Cardiothoracic Surgery" will follow "Dear Judge" in September, on SBS.
