Lee Min Ho And Jun Ji Hyun’s Highly Anticipated Drama To Air In Malaysia

Another new drama to catch on ONE!

Malaysia’s Korean entertainment channel ONE has a brand new drama in store for fans this November. The new drama series Legend of the Blue Sea, starring Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun, is set to premiere on November 17. It will air every Thursday and Friday at 8.10pm, within 24 hours of its Korean telecast, first and exclusively on ONE.

Legend of the Blue Sea is the highly anticipated comeback drama for both its leading stars.  The series marks Lee Min Ho’s return to the small screen after three years. Meanwhile, it is the first drama for new mum Jun Ji Hyun, who gave birth to a baby boy earlier this year in February.

The 20-episode drama is helmed by renowned writer Park Ji Eun (My Love from the Star) and acclaimed director Jin Hyuk (The Master’s Sun, City Hunter). The series tells the centuries-spanning love tale of the world’s last mermaid and the man who has saved her. In the present day, Lee Min Ho plays a genius conman, and hilarity ensues when he crosses paths with Jun Ji Hyun’s mermaid character as she attempts to adjust to life on land.

Synopsis
'The Legend of the Blue Sea' is a fantasy romance drama that borrowed motifs from a mermaid story found in a book called 'Eaou Yadam', a collection of folk tales. According to the folk tale, Kim Dam-ryung, a magistrate in Hyupgok, released a mermaid caught by a fisherman back to the sea. The drama will tell the story about the magistrate and the mermaid.

What would you do if a mermaid showed up on the side of your boat and asked you for directions to Seoul?

In a 4th teaser for SBS's upcoming drama 'The Legend of the Blue Sea', Jun Ji Hyun is an elegant, poised, and mukbang-loving mermaid! When she asks fishermen on a boat directions toward Seoul, the fishermen are flustered, commenting,"You're going to swim to Seoul from here? But this is Jeju Island!" That's no problem for mermaid Jun Ji Hyun, as she waves them off and replies, "It's fine!" 

Once Jun Ji Hyun reaches Seoul, she encounters the city-dwelling con man Lee Min Ho, who thinks she's a little loony in the head but decides to go along with her whims.

There’s A Hint Of (Wild) Romance In Latest “The Legend Of The Blue Sea” Trailer

The fourth teaser for “The Legend of the Blue Sea” is out!

This latest teaser continues to build the background story for Jun Ji Hyun’s character, who is a mermaid trying to adjust to human life in the modern times. In the teaser, you see Lee Min Ho’s character (Heo Joon Jae), a con artist, trying to figure out why Jun Ji Hyun is the way she is, asking if she came from the jungle or if she is a werewolf girl when she growls at fishes in a tank. Viewers are also teased with the beginnings of romance between the two characters who are linked by the past, with Jun Ji Hyun’s character having met Lee Min Ho’s lookalike during the Joseon dynasty. Whatever their past connection is, in the present, it looks like the con artist is in for a crazy and confusing ride, literally, with a mermaid!

“The Legend of the Blue Sea” premieres next week on Wednesday, November 16. Catch it exclusively on Viki!
