Watch: Lee Min Ho Is Full Of Affection For His Horse Co-Star Maximus In “The King: Eternal Monarch”

Lee Min Ho has shared a cute behind-the-scenes video from the set of SBS’s “The King: Eternal Monarch!”

Uploaded to his own YouTube channel, the video shows Lee Min Ho bonding with his equine co-star, Maximus. The actor has previously talked about his affection for his special co-star in an interview.

The video opens with beautiful shots of Lee Min Ho being a literal prince on a white steed, riding into the sunset, through a sunlit forest, and other scenes befitting his role as Emperor Lee Gon. As the video proceeds, Lee Min Ho can be seen affectionately petting the horse between takes, gazing into his eyes, and feeding him candy.

At one point, the actor is confused when Maximus (with Lee Min Ho on his back) pulls his head down to nibble at some leaves on the ground. Then he just laughs and says, “Why is he eating leaves?”

The PD asks him, “Do you think your horse is the only one that listens?” and Lee Min Ho quipped, “The important thing is who is doing the driving.” When the PD asks, “Is it fun to ride a horse for two days?”, Lee Min Ho replies, “Is it fun? Do you want to try it?”

Check out the video with English subtitles below!

Kim Go Eun and Lee Min Ho’s relationship is reaching a new level in SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “The King: Eternal Monarch”!

“The King: Eternal Monarch” tells the story of Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) and detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun), who live in parallel universes where Korea is a constitutional monarchy and democracy respectively, but work together to try and save peoples lives.

Spoiler

In the previous episode, Lee Gon returned to his world, making the two realize how empty they felt without one another. Furthermore, viewers were shocked to discover that the day Jung Tae Eul’s new ID card was supposed to be issued was the same as the date written on the ID Lee Gon has held onto for 25 years. On that day, Lee Gon reappeared in Jung Tae Eul’s Korea and told her, “Let’s go back together to my world.” The two headed back to Lee Gon’s world, piquing viewers curiosity as to what will unfold in the future.

The newly released stills feature Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul having an unconventional cooking class in the imperial palace kitchen. The scene features Lee Gon personally cooking a meal for Jung Tae Eul. With a gaze full of affection and love, Lee Gon shows off his phenomenal cooking skills. Jung Tae Eul is also hit with one surprise after another, finding it difficult to hide her wave of emotions. Their foreheads then meet for a romantic moment.

This upcoming scene was filmed in March at a cooking studio in Gangnam district. Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun portrayed their characters’ gradually developing affection with subtle attention to details in their emotions. During filming, Lee Min Ho checked the cooking process carefully, putting a lot of effort into preparing the food. Meanwhile, Kim Go Eun utilized her bright smile and skillful acting to portray her character’s growing affection towards Lee Gon.

The production team revealed that Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun solely focused on their characters’ emotions, creating a unique flavor of sweetness for this particular scene. They asked viewers to tune into the “spring night romance” as Jung Tae Eul reunites with Lee Gon in his world.

“The King: Eternal Monarch” airs every Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m. KST.

Ep 5 teaser has surpassed 500K views just in a day on Netflix Korea Youtube Channel and it has 255K views on Naver Tv

Hi leeminhosny, thanks for sharing this. The end of EP4 is raising my expectations for the upcoming EPs on Friday. I guess we could get to see MORE of the leads from EP5. LJJ freely travels between the 2-worlds that sometimes it's hard for me to tell where he is, at K-Empire or Republic of Corea.
