The Wednesday-Thursday SBS Drama “Legend of the Blue Sea” revealed the still cut of it male lead Lee Min Ho who took double role as both Kim Dam Ryeong and Heo Jun Jae, whose both characters each day are being upgraded.As the viewers have already know, on the 2nd Episode of the drama (Director’s Cut), there was a scene when Kim Dam Ryeong said “What was it that i saw on my dream? is it perhaps my next life..turning into a person who can do anything and save a mermaid who is a reincarnation too?” asking his friend Yak Son (Choi Kwon), Dam Ryeong has indeed seeing his future, feeling unfamiliar yet he knew he already feels used to seeing the things in his dream like he was being himself.Meanwhile, even when we know how the story in the past life (Joseon) and present are totally different from each other, we also realize that they indeed have connection to each other and somehow similar especially with the mermaid. Especially on the events that both Se Hwa and Sim Cheong (both portrayed by Jeon Ji Hyun) made promise regarding the first event that should be seen with the person they love. It gains popularity as “Joseon Event” where then the sky was flooded with lanterns when Kim Dam Ryeong wanted to meet Se Hwa.

Meanwhile, Heo Jun Jae, definitely inherited the same DNA as Kim Dam Ryeong, is also a kind and warm person. He pretended to not care and indifferent, but he was the one who gave name to the mermaid. He provided delicious food, a place to stay and definitely showing that he care about the mermaid Sim Chung.In the pas Joseon area, Lee Min Ho as Kim Dam Ryeong who played the role as a governor, caught attention with the still cuts using hanbok. He also caught attention for his role as Heo Jun Jae as a genius con-artist using pilot uniform, and a repairman. Crossing past to present, he gained viewer’s hearts with his delicate emotion to both Se Hwa and Sim Cheong.

'Legend of the Blue Sea' debuts at No. 1 on TV chart

 

SEOUL, Nov. 29 (Yonhap) -- A new TV series about a mermaid's adventures on land opened at the top of a chart measuring TV shows' popularity, data showed Tuesday.

"The Legend of the Blue Sea" scored 309.1 points on the Content Power Index (CPI) during the week of Nov. 14-20 following the broadcast of its first two episodes on SBS TV. The index, developed by entertainment company CJ E&M and media ratings company Nielsen Korea, aggregates the number of views of related news stories, keyword searches and mentions on social media.

The drama, now four episodes in, is off to a strong start thanks in part to the star power of its cast. Jun Ji-hyun, a "hallyu" star who last played an actress in the hit series "My Love from the Star," takes on the role of the mermaid Shim Chung. Lee Min-ho, another icon of "hallyu," or the global spread of Korean pop culture, stars opposite her as a genius conman.

Screenwriter Park Ji-eun has added to the series' appeal. Before taking on the new series, she also wrote "My Love from the Star."

MBC series "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo" came in at a distant second with 251.5 points. The drama is a coming-of-age story featuring young college students majoring in various sports from weightlifting to swimming. It premiered the same day as "The Legend of the Blue Sea" and airs in the same time slot.

"Oh My Geum-bi," another Wednesday-Thursday series that opened the same week, collected 216.4 points to rank eighth. The KBS 2TV series follows the transformation of a father (Oh Ji-ho) faced with the challenge of raising a daughter suffering from childhood Alzheimer's.

Other programs in the top 10 included all-time favorite MBC variety show "Infinite Challenge" (third), SBS variety show "Running Man" (fourth) and MBC talk show "Radio Star" (fifth).

SBS medical series "Dr. Romantic" dropped six places to seventh after opening at No. 1 the previous week. The drama has gained strong viewership ratings and positive reviews for its story about doctors' struggles against the medical establishment and the solid performance of its cast.

It’s a jaw-dropping cast. Prepare to die with the Magnificent 7 – hahaha - wow what a handsome richard simmons cast. This drama is going to be interesting! The female lead is so lucky! SBS hit drama “The Legend of the Blue Sea” ranked the highest on the contents power index for the second and third week of November. According to CJ E&M on Monday, “The Legend of the Blue Sea” topped the list with the highest in contents power.
