*** For the 2nd EP, which was last night, November 17 ratings shifted a bit, with “The Legend of the Blue Sea” recording 15.1%, but still strong.  Despite falling in ratings, the drama stayed in first. :P

'Roco King' Lee Minho's magic began.  (Translated by Google and I revised a little)(로코 Roco means Romantic-comedy)

In the second episode of SBS 'Blue Sea Legend' (played by Park Ji-eun, director Jeong Hyuk) on 17th, Huh Junjae (Lee Minho) escapes from pursuit of Jin-ok (Kim Seong-ryung) Was closer.

In the first meeting, Lee Joon-jae dismissed him as a cheerleader and his past. Lee Min-ho, who successfully announced his comeback for three years, boasted his charisma of digging and full-scale character, showed off the appearance of 'Lokoking' in the second encounter with his mermaid. The perfect visuals that have been overwhelming before the air show, Huh Joon-jae has been attracted to the girl's emotions because of its charm, sweetness, playfulness and warmth. Lee Minho is optimizing for Rocco and is making use of it.

Lee Min-ho's eyes were changing every moment. From the eyes of the couples who gaze at the mermaid gently, to the younger eyes to warmth that gives a hand to the crucial but crucial moments, to the mermaids, to the story of the mother and to the eyes that deepen the nostalgia. The scenes of riding bicycles while being chased by Chinok Suh was changed into a lovely dating god just by Lee Minho's eyes. Eyesight is also a scene that represents the upgraded acting power. Especially for Lee Min Ho, 'I'm in your eyes shiny shine' lines appeared. As the drama develops and the emotions deepen, the expectation for more glowing eyes is gathering.

The digestion power of Lee Min-ho's lines was also brilliant. Huh Joon-jae is a genius cheater from Mensa who lives with the ability of accurate judgment and longing for her mother in a full-fledged attitude. Despite the large number of lines, it showed a rhythmical metabolic digestion power with excellent sense of rhythm and inspired the drama and changed the emotions. The line of "love is surrender" and the line saying "Are you shy now?" Plus the charm of loving and a boy like Lee Minho has been already foretelling the birth of dictum.

On the other hand, 'The Legend of the Blue Sea', where Huh Junja and a mermaid are kissing and continuing the strings of fate, is being broadcasted every Wednesday and Thursday at 10 pm.

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "The Legend of the Blue Sea" Episode 2

photo785432.jpg

"The Legend of the Blue Sea" is starting out strong, beating its pre-produced predecessor "Descendants of the Sun" in ratings. Although the story still hasn't proceeded very far, the dialogue is charming, wittily delivered, and the ten minute long chase scenes are overflowing with Jeon Ji-hyeon's irresistible energy.

Romance blooms quickly in this drama, growing during fights with thugs, interspecies culture clashes, and all sorts of mermaid badassery. While Lee Min-ho is strong in his comedy and in his chemistry with his co-star, it is the lovely Jeon Ji-hyeon's mermaid and her complete lack of inhibition that charms the pants off this episode. Contrary to social practice, she is frank with her emotions, does not self depricate, and goes after what she wants. As Joon-jae shares his past, the pain of losing his mother, and his skewed sense of love, the mermaid takes all of it to heart and tries to apply it to her own feelings and situation. She is like a child in her ignorance, but very much a mature, loveable adult in her problem-solving.

This episode still only gave us a taste of their paralleled past incarnations. The mermaid's golden-tailed predecessor definitely dabbled in romance with Joon-jae's town mayer, but we don't know much more than that. Seong Dong-il plays a nasty piece of work in Joseon times and he was seen sauntering around in cuffs in present day Seoul so I expect him to make a splash in Joon-jae's and his mermaid's lives soon. For now the intrigue remains rather perfunctory and utilitarian - Joon-jae is running from the retaliation set on him by a victim of a heist.

Romance in "The Legend of the Blue Sea" is charming and refreshingly unaffected and unpretentious. Emotions are in the open almost immeidately. It will no doubt be Joon-jae's criminal activities and the fact that the two lovers come from different words that will challenge them and spur this drama forward.

Characterizations are fun as well. Joon-jae is obnoxiously confident, but also keenly aware of loneliness and being left behind. The mermaid quietly protects what is hers. Both characters have a fierceness about them that makes them winning individually and together.

While I hope that the fish-out-of-water antics continue, I would like to meet the rest of the main cast and get the plot really rolling forward next week.
