Guest severus
Yeah you kind of expect the double standards when you're competing for leadership roles. I didn't expect the level of scrutiny at the analyst level, bottom of the food chain. I'm not a trader, but it's more magnified because some trading floors are as little as 20% female. The slightest bad move makes you stick out like a sore thumb. Enough complaining from me though, got it out of my system once, and I'm onto working on talking in a deeper voice, toning down enthusiasm, and never wearing any other shoe color than black and beige. ayahuasca
I got some advice today about females being too bubbly when meeting clients. Thing is, if I had a dck, I'd be a keen enthusiastic young man who's passionate about the work and excited to meet key industry leaders. When I told a friend in the field, he said "being pretty doesn't help with being taken seriously". And I get it, it's just the way business works. 99% of the time the people we deal with are male CEOs/CFOs/ major shareholders in their late 50s early 60s, so its important to put in the extra effort to tone down the energy level.Man you just can't win. My bestfriend is doing downstream marketing for an oil mega-cap. Was in Houston for a meeting and the people there asked her boss if she was bored and unhappy to be there because she's not naturally as energetic/ outgoing. I'd take bubbly and energetic over a dead fish any day
halfmoonsmile
Considering dying my hair silver. I don't think Barnes and Noble would hire somebody with white hair and pink streaks. Guest severus
^ I regret not dying my hair purple when I could. There is zero doubt I'd be asked to leave the office to go get my hair redyed if I came in with purple hair in the morning. Wahhhhh purple unicorn hair dreams. Guest severus
Walked down 39 floors in 3.5 inch heels because we had a fire drill. Got a nosebleed by the time I got to the bottom. Had to come back up to work. Omggggggg today. Also in shock how long it takes adults to evacuate an office... Nobody leaves until security comes and yells at them. halfmoonsmile
Need new Internet service, wants new expensive coat, get mad about the cats knocking down mom's bamboo plant (do me a favour and quit planting, we don't have the space for it! ), had to clean it up (stupid brother didn't bother to clean it up), stupid cat was rough on kitten, got snubbed yesterday (you all think you're so perfect, ugly old bags), not even started on manuscript this month, dreading my lousy birthday, wanting to escape to another country or wizarding world of Harry Potter. Guest scroogemcduck
Hey, this is Lie/Luke. I'm only here because I got a Facebook message from someone alerting me that a bunch of people are talking about how terrible of a person I am, that I'm ugly, a psycho, etc. on Skype and elsewhere apparently. I haven't been on this forum in like 4 or so months, but I felt it needed addressing because I was brought back into the nonsense.I understand why people would be upset at me: especially Andrea + Pauline (severus I actually never did anything wrong to). But I have moved on with my life, have a girlfriend of a couple months here where I live who treats me really well and vice versa, am incredibly happy with my job. My life is very good, very healthy. I explained to my girlfriend my past, how I lied to Andrea about living in Toronto (and that I understood it was stupid, not something I should ever do to a friend [or former friend]). That I made Pauline feel bad about not talking to me as much once she got a boyfriend (which was very stupid and immature, and something that taught me an important lesson because I learned how NOT to treat friends if you don't want to lose them). I explained to her my mistakes and I'm 100% honest with her, which is a positive change in my life. I understand why people here might think I'm weird, a bad person, etc. because of lying about Toronto (whether I did plan to live there or not), and for the way things ended with my friendship with Pauline. And I own that, I was a bad person in terms of making some lame decisions that did not take into consideration you guy's feelings. I was about "me, me, me." But I have apologized profusely to all of you for the mistakes I've made. I did so multiple times over. I've accepted that I no longer have your friendships, which is why I left Soompi in the first place (so that you guys wouldn't have to be around someone you didn't like any longer). It hurts me regularly that I can't talk to Pauline about Fallout 4, or to Andrea about the upcoming Uncharted haha. I understand how badly I screwed up, and I live every day acknowledging it. At the same time, I'm happy with the progress I've made since those mistakes, and treating the people in my life now with the respect I should've treated you guys so that I could keep your friendships. It's very possible that your discussion of me was mischaracterized and it was just a two minute conversation or something, which is perfectly fine. All I'm asking is that you not bring me up anymore; all of us are better with the others not in our lives, I think it's a mutual agreement. I won't be here to read any replies, I just wanted to ask very nicely that I'm not a topic of conversation anymore. I don't really understand what satisfaction you get out of making fun of me or being bullies. I would never dream of laughing at or about you guys, so I think it's a bit mean-spirited that you'd do that to me. Thank you for considering my feelings, I wish you guys the best regardless going forward!

NaughtyDog
"My thoughts are with the people of Paris, but also my Muslim friends who will bear the brunt of racism and Islamophobia because of the actions of a few."I hate people like this. This is a devastating time for those affected by the attacks in Paris, it's NOT the time to be a social media justice warrior to show how high and mighty and above racism you are. I get where she's coming from, but there's a time and place for things. Also her post history makes it obvious that she just wants the Facebook likes... Ughhh. Unfollowed. odaesan
What happened in Paris is horrible. Completely unrelated, I sold something on eBay at a lower price so someone who really wanted to get could have it and a reseller bought it. This sucks. odaesan
Dude, I looked up the buyer's name and he's a scammer. I really don't want to ship this to him. He's stolen millions of dollars from victims. He should be in prison. Not the nice prison with the private cells and private showers. The prison where he can't drop the soap and he has to hold onto a guy's pocket to survive.
