@violina Thank you for the Hotel Venus gifs – fetus JG looks so cute, especially with those ears.  Even then he was very expressive – his face, his body language – wow! Haven’t watched Hotel Venus yet. and thank you for the Hero gifs too - he was sooooo adorable in it!

To me it wasn't that she was disgusted or repelled...it was that she knew what her actions/words had caused to happen...that he "had" to reveal his weakness and she was worried yet kinda surprised he unmasked himself. Her eyes almost try to reach out to him...to show a bit of worry yet a bit of support. You can see that she wants to go to him in the Damiwon...and she does go after him when he leaves. As for what he saw that he didn't like???? Maybe it was perceived pity...that he didn't want.  What say the others?

Wang Eun & Wang So reunited!!  Let's make it FOREVER!  (Forever...one of my fave songs on EXO's latest album.  Composed and arranged by LDN Noise.  I blast it while working).  Let's hope watching EXO gave JG some needed energy (EXO was his Red Ginseng) and he'll be motivated to go figure out his next step!

So has been fuming with suppressed anger! I love how the BGM is abruptly stopped the moment he grabs her hand. So is so angry even his voice trembles.

So gets speechless when Soo says “No one can save me but myself”. And a lovely shot of her hand in his.

So is worried that she could have died – the same guy who said that he’d have to kill her if he has to say sorry to her is worried about her safety! His voice becomes so soft when he tells her to never do something like this or he’d never forgive her. It becomes so soft completely in contrast to his earlier angry voice. And the OST is

When Soo says that she is not alone because he is there, is that a tiny unbelievable smirk in his face? He says that palace will not be boring since she is there – is he indirectly saying it was boring after he came from snake Wook’s house because she was not there? He smiles a happy genuine smile when he turns back!

Ahhh... he is so beautiful! 

Soo says she is overflowing with talent – so self confident; so precious. I love how he always lean towards her when talking with her and she is definitely not uncomfortable as before; she does not even lean away.

When she slips about Moo’s illness, he does not scold her; he does not say anything rough – he tells her to be careful in a very soft and caring voice. and she is always honest about her feelings and fears with So – if this is not a basis for a perfect relationship, I don’t know what is!

She is discouraged and about to give up. He motivates her; when he finds out that teasing her does not work out, he tells her about Pat Pat. This is the first time he is willingly shares something about his past life – no, the incident with the Evil Queen Yoo doesn’t count. He sounds and looks so sad when he talks about burning down his tree. Isn’t it heartbreaking how the only friend he had was a tree! How alone he must have been there. And the OST!! My heart hurts. When he tells her not to run away and stay faithful to what she has decided to do – his voice, as if talking to a stubborn child – so soft. It’s lovely how he gets down to her level to talk to her.

Soo says to snake Wook “there’s no need to rush. I’m doing fine here.” HA!! Of course, she doesn’t tell him the truth or how hard it is for her to be a court lady. Mmm honest, heart to heart talks are reserved for So, I guess!

Doesn’t every single line of Soo’s song relate to So perfectly? Soo being his sunshine and her and BA his friends? Awww!

Look how So’s whole face changes when he realizes that he likes Soo more than just a friend; that he has feeling for her; that he is falling for her. From his eyes to lips – everything changes. Not knowing how to deal with his new found realization, So leaves. Did YH notice something? Poor SD feels left out and self-conscious about her gift. Soo notices So is leaving and looks very concerned.

So feels awkward when he comes to the party, but one look at Soo’s smiling face and he’s all smiles. He too falls into Yo’s trap. He feels bad that he hasn’t prepared any gifts – he probably didn’t think that would be invited to the party at all, poor baby!

When Soo says So would never go back on his words, he looks at her adoringly with heart eyes – his smile and eyes look so soft, such a beautiful sight! And the small noise he makes when he smiles! Ah, my heart!!

Once Eun tells his request they know they’ve been tricked.

Only his nose and mouth are visible when he says “Must you see it?” I didn’t know that just the way lips move can express so much emotion; so much hurt; so much shame; so much self-contempt.

 

When Eun reminds about Soo saying So keeps his promise, So decides. I love how the BGM is stops when he starts to untie the mask and then continues unobtrusively; the way each and every sound of So removing the mask is amplified is simply awesome. He eyes get teary; his whole face trembles. I love how every movement is so focused with close up shots. He is so ashamed to show his face.

Random observation: I just noticed a pretty mole in his jawline at 54:57!

 

Does YH look revolted? Won smirks; Jung and Eun look shocked; BA and Moo refuse to look; Yo enjoys it thoroughly, of course. So feels so ashamed he doesn’t even lift his head up once. I love how they have amplified his devastated sigh. He falters when he looks at Soo; the hand which holds the mask shakes. He feels so small in front of everyone.  Oh, and the OST is everything!

Snake Wook notices when Soo leaves.

Again, Soo touches So several times to stop him. He allows her to stop him – he could have easily pushed her away and left, but he doesn’t.

Soo say “if you leave like this Eun will not have the chance to apologize and you will grow apart”. Isn’t this what happened between them in the last episodes? So never gets to hear her apology when she’s alive and she tells she is sorry in the present time to his portrait; his portrait!! Of course, So will keep his promise and meet her in present and hear her apology and they make up and live happily ever after – but we never even got to see their reunion! *Blue tries to calm down*

I’ve never seen a more heartbroken face in this episode! Those eyes; the voice; everything! Those sad eyes never fail to pierce my heart and break it into tiny pieces. How is JG able to control even his facial muscles and cheeks like that?

The last two scenes were such an emotional roller coaster for me – I was actually going “Awww” with my hands on my cheeks and all at first and a few minutes later my heart is hurt. JG you shouldn’t play with my heart and emotions like this!

And no, @pixelsticks I still don't have a Top 10 Wang So Faces! Not even 100 tbh!

I'm sure she wouldn't want to leave Wook and her responsibilities at the Damiwon.  But if she was assigned???  Or So could have just grabbed her like he did with the kiss and the oceanside jaunt.

I'm hoping for the second: I don't think I could bear to hear the wonderful, soft, powerful, rich, intense voice of our JG replaced by any other person and to see our So speaking a "foreign" language

I know my reviews have no depht  but as we are in JG thread it's a good thing that they are Wang So centric.. episode 7 and 8 are Wang So centric anyway (and maybe that's why i love them so much). Nevertheless i know i didn´t write much for my epi 7 review (and i'm afraid it would be the same for epi 8) The truth is tomorrow will be a week since i'm sick.

what do i have? let's call it a "virosis" (the word people and even doctors use when they don´t know what is the ailment).. but it's been a week since i can´t speak, yesterday was the first night that i could sleep a little and my eyes hurt so much... you may ask if i can´t sleep why don´t use the time to be here or watch dramas... but when you can´t even breath because you are coughing nonstop then you don´t want to write or read or watch dramas... i watched episode 8 last night and in every single swooning WS scene my "coughing session" would start, no matter how many times i replayed the scene... end of ranting

So don´t expect much from my comments either, and sorry because i know i'm skipping so many of the late comments and goodies in this thread

First of all i must say i like IU since i saw her in Dream High... i think she's adorable. And i know we are supposed to think that So was mistaken the look in Soo eyes for pity, wich he doesn´t want from the girl he now loves. I can get that Soo was supposed to show worry, surprise, support... it's just that to me Soo's eyes (or must i said IU's eyes) were expressionless in that particular scene... i don´t see worry, surprise or support... i don´t see anything at all... she kinda spoiled the scene for me... Thankfully i can always focus in So.

• 2:09 Isn’t it Bromantic!  <<<there should be SO many more of these scenes>>> Wang So is staring at the moon from his outdoor balcony.  Enter Baek-Ah, to mend the brother bonds. So is actively trying to figure out his emotions, and questions his reactions to different people.  He is direct with BA. BA tries to get him to understand Soo was manipulated by Yo.  So doesn’t want to hear it.
• 3:45 Court Lady Oh and the King <<<is this their first scene together??>>> They kick out Soo so CLO can “brush his hair”  <<<is that Goryeo code for hook up?>>>  It is kind of a sensual scene. You can tell she loves the dude.
• 5:05 “Queen Yoo has arrived.”  And the mood is what.... destroyed! She wants to place the hairpin. And put CLO in her place.
• 5:46 Tea Time in the Damiwon! Soo is serving tea to the Princes and Queen Hwangbo.  It’s here where she tries to show the Princes her love and attention by serving their faves. But So is still surly and uses it to refuse the tea, claiming it’s because of the drought.  
• 6:38 Seems that Soo used Baek-Ah to find out So’s fave drink and snack to reach him.  They talk about how he has forgiven everyone BUT her and that So won’t even look at her. Baek-Ah starts to figure it out, when other maids arrive. He embarrasses her in front of them as payback to not appeasing So.  CLO arrives to see.
• 8:15 Goryeo Court Lady Workouts!  Hold textbooks above your head for 4 hours. CLO tells Soo to sever her relationships with the Princes as it is causing TOO MUCH DRAMA.  Soo says yes…but she doesn’t want to. It’s here where we see that CLO can only eat porridge.
• 9:55 Yay! Eun & Bear Pelt get some time to interact!  Eun is bored and hungry.  Soon-Duk cannot speak but knows what to do. Takes him on a sparrow hunt. He’s impatient, she’s the master. Together they catch one.  Eun wants to eat it, but is horrified when Soon-Duk kills it. He runs off. Turns out the General has been watching the whole time.  He’s none too thrilled about Eun. But he realizes he cannot talk his daughter out of her choice. <<<ah…such an atypical daddy for that time>>>
• 13:30 Wook arrives but the Damiwon has been closed due to the drought. Soo finds a note in her bedroom.  2 words…watering hole. She finds Wook there.  She is breaking her promise to CLO. Hey…did Soo just ask Wook to FORGET her??  But he won’t.  He’s convinced that he can get a favor granted after the rain ritual.  Soo is so excited to hear she might be back at the 8^th Princes house! They cuddle.
• 18:30 Soo is reminding CPM about how to deal with his eczema before he leaves on a mission to deal with thieves. He tells her he left her a necklace in her room as a thank you. <<<uh oh>>>  Enter Wang So , who is helping the crown prince <<<ok…NOW I wish THOSE scenes could be in existence---CPM & So apprehending thieves and bromantically bonding! >>> Soo does her best “ignore me – I’m outta here” but she gets apprehended by Queen Yoo & Prince Yo. They find her with all the treatments and demand to know what’s up! Wang So watches his family pester her from afar. Luckily CLO enters and lets the Queen have it…in her own way.
• 22:20 The Queen enters her chambers to find Wang So waiting there. She’s none too thrilled and tells him he smells like a beast. He advises her to leave the Damiwon and CLO alone <<<becoming the politician>>> But she is starting to figure it out and wonders if he did that because of Hae Soo .
• 23:45 CLO lets Hae Soo have it. And reveals why.  She sees herself in Soo; a kind, sweet, trusting, helpful person and warns her the Palace is not the place for people like that. It’s emotional and it takes its toll.
• 25:30 CLO wakes up from passing out earlier. Girl Bonding time! Soo lets CLO know she knows and she will be wiser. Pine Nut Porridge for the win!
• 27:45 King Taejo is exhausted from doing sun salutations. JiMong suggests for him to pick another Prince to fill in for him. <<<I guess So didn’t go thief hunting with the CPM, just arranged it all….boo>>> Eun lets us know the dangers of volunteering, but So does so anyway.  He’s wise enough to know you perform the ritual UNTIL the rain starts.  Even Yo & Wook are impressed! <<take that crappy, coddled Princes!!>>>
• 30:10 The King picks the 4^th Prince’s name from the jar <<<so how many of you think that JiMong fixed that jar???>>>> Everybody is shocked. <<I loved how the camera work went from Yo to Wook to So…all surprised>>> WHAT??
• 31:00 JiMong tells Wang So not to doubt that he was chosen. <<<And thank you for choosing to do SO MANY CLOSE UPS OF SO HERE!!!>>>
• 31:25 It’s a beautiful sunny day, everyone royal is in white. Queen Yoo & Yo are smirking. <<Uh oh>>.  JiMong is leading the Wang So parade through the village. When it is time to proceed on foot, So gathers his courage, but the commoners are scared and stupid and hurl stones, mud and words at So. He makes it into the Palace grounds, but is mortified and broken. And he bolts. <<< ♥ the music, and now here comes his anger….>>>

• 36:20  Soo goes searching for So on the Palace grounds. She finds him in his boat.  She stumbles, he catches and it’s a cuddle moment in the boat. So finds her optimism bothersome.
• 39:30  Soo in her bed…ruminating over So’s question, “Why were you born?” It motivates her to make Goryeo BB cream!

The CPM won’t be back in time for the next ritual <<<because of Yo>>> and he wants So to step up again.  So refuses.  JiMong asks him when he will MAN UP and get over his mommy grudge and scar issues. Turns out JiMong and the King have been manipulating this all along.  <<<what about fate, huh?>>> You would think a reveal like that would build some confidence. They want YOU!  So decides to do it.  He grabs the white garb. Soo runs up to him and demands she comes with him. “I can take that mask off for you.”  <<<hehehehehe he might want something else>>>

Wang So gets the Goryeo Spa treatment from Soo. <<<the framing of this scene is daebak!>>> The gentle way she removes his mask and traces his scar….the vulnerability of So.  She assures him, he gives in and lets her know. “I’m yours.... <<<the most loaded, ovary busting Male Lead ^^^^^^response ever!!!! ???          WHY??? does she look so unsure…. >>> And with a deep breath…she changes history!
• 47:25 The villagers are waiting for the ritual to start. The ministers are pestering the King to allow Yo to start the proceedings. JiMong tries to stall Yo’s turn.

Interesting Note:  Mirror close up & Almost Kiss scene was not in the regular cut of Episode 8 Dramafever version. And there were definitely some other edits that were different.  A bit of humor by the General at the rain ritual, a close-up of So, etc.

To this day i can´t understand why they edited off the mirror close up & almost kiss scene... unless they were so set on selling us Soo+Wook... Thankfuly we had SBS version...
