“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” will tell the love story of an actress who hits rock bottom overnight and a producing director (PD) who gets her back on her feet out of love. Im Soo Hyang plays top actress Park Do Ra who overcame many hardships to build her filmography ever since she was young while Ji Hyun Woo takes on the role of PD Go Pil Seung who harbors ambitious dreams of success.

 

On March 6, “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” unveiled a new teaser of rookie PD Go Pil Seung on a phone call. To the person on the other end, Go Pil Seung confirms, “Yes, [this drama] stars Park Do Ra.”

 

He continues, “Do you know what people say about Park Do Ra in this field? They call her Ppak Dol Ah (translating to ‘going crazy’ in Korean).” Complaining that she’s too sensitive, Go Pil Seung adds, “I feel like I’m going crazy like 12 times a day.”

 

However, feeling a cold gaze behind him, Go Pil Seung turns around to see Park Do Ra listening to his conversation the whole time. Taking off her sunglasses, Park Do Ra asks, “Are you done badmouthing me?”

 

 

Another teaser depicts Park Do Ra and Go Pil Seung awkwardly in the elevator together. Park Do Ra begins to complain about having to redo scenes multiple times on set and orders Go Pil Seung, “Tell Director Hong that if I have to do the same take more than three times, then I can’t do this any longer.”

 

Go Pil Seung nervously agrees, but when Director Hong appears, Park Do Ra’s attitude changes completely as she begins to butter the director up with sweet remarks.

New teasers are out for KBS’s rom-com weekender Beauty and Mr. Romantic, which has gone through name changes like an incognito royal on the run. Formerly Beauty and the Devoted, and then the very literal Beauty and the Pure Guy, the drama has now decided to spotlight the heart of our Prince Charming in its latest title.

It’s another day at work for our leading man Ji Hyun-woo (Young Lady and Gentleman), and the chyron introduces him as Go Pil-seung, a rookie assistant PD who’s still wet behind the ears. As he waits for the elevator, he takes a call from a friend and shares some life updates about the drama he’s currently working on.

 

 

 

The star of the show is top actress Park Do-ra, played by Im Soo-hyang (Kokdu: Season of Deity), but just the mere mention of her name elicits an exasperated sigh from Pil-seung. Apparently, she gives the crew so much trouble that they’ve given her a new moniker amongst themselves, not-so-subtly referring to the way she never fails to raise their heckles.

As Pil-seung rants away, he suddenly feels a chill down his spine, and he turns around to find Do-ra smiling ominously at him, having heard every word. “Are you done cursing me out?” Do-ra asks wryly, and Pil-seung can only swallow nervously in response.

Elevators seem to be a hot spot for conflict, because the second teaser has Pil-seung boarding one, meekly bowing his head when he realizes Do-ra is already inside, and turning away to hide a barely-suppressed grimace. His fear isn’t unfounded, because Do-ra has a litany of complaints that she isn’t afraid to make known. She’s fed up with the main PD for his endless retakes and lack of preparation, and she wants Pil-seung to be the messenger.

Set on getting her way, Do-ra sulks that she’ll refuse to film any more if a scene exceeds three takes. All Pil-seung can do is acquiesce obediently, in order to appease the disgruntled Do-ra. That is, until the elevator doors open to reveal the main PD on the other side. In the blink of an eye, Do-ra’s demeanor does a 180 — her frown widens into a beatific smile as she greets the PD in a high-pitched aegyo tone, leaving a dumbfounded Pil-seung speechless. Ha, Do-ra may be the bane of Pil-seung’s existence right now, but if the show’s newest poster is any indication, she’s on the way to becoming his Belle.

Helmed by PD Hong Seok-gu (Homemade Love Story) and writer Kim Sa-kyung (Young Lady and Gentleman), who previously collaborated on My Only One, Beauty and Mr. Romantic premieres on March 23.

Beauty and Mr. Romantic is a brand-new coming-of-age romantic comedy K-drama. The series is all set to arrive on KBS2 on Saturday, March 23, 2024. The air time of the Korean drama is 7.55 p.m. KST. It stars actors Im Soo-Hyang and Ji Hyun-Woo as the central pair. KBS has released a new preview trailer for the series on Instagram on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

KBS’s newly dropped trailer for Beauty and Mr. Romantic showcases Ji Hyun-Woo as the male lead, Go Pil-Seung, and Im Soo-Hyang as the female lead, Park Do-Ra. The trailer sees the two characters having a conversation inside a life. The conversation seems to have irritated Go Pil-Seung.

The new Beauty And Mr. Romantic trailer features Im Soo-Hyang as Park Do-Ra, a renowned actress. It also features Ji Hyun-Woo as Go Pil-Seung, a newly recruited drama producer. The trailer shows a lift scene where the two characters are having a conversation with each other.

They look awkward while standing beside one another inside an elevator. Park Do Ra then starts complaining about how she had to redo several scenes repeatedly on set. She goes on to order the rookie drama producer, Go Pil-Seung, to tell the project director that if she has to do the same scene over three times, she simply can not do it anymore.

The Beauty And Mr. Romantic trailer then shows Go Pil-Seung nervously agreeing to what Park Do-Ra says. However, when the director of the project appears, the attitude of the actress Park Do-Ra completely changes. She starts making sweet remarks to the director. Thus, by the look of it, it is clear that viewers are in for an exciting rom-com series.

“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” will tell the love story of an actress who hits rock bottom overnight and a producing director (PD) who gets her back on her feet out of love. Im Soo Hyang plays top actress Park Do Ra who overcame many hardships to build her filmography ever since she was young while Ji Hyun Woo takes on the role of PD Go Pil Seung who harbors ambitious dreams of success.

In explaining her choice to join the drama, Im Soo Hyang revealed, “It was an opportunity to collaborate with writer Kim Sa Kyung once more, whom I previously worked with on ‘Blow Breeze,’ so I readily accepted.”

Similarly, Ji Hyun Woo, who had also worked with writer Kim Sa Kyung in “Young Lady and Gentleman” in 2021, expressed, “I wanted to work with writer Kim Sa Kyung again and felt that the characters in the script were vividly alive. Describing her character Park Do Ra as someone who is “self assured doesn’t get easily intimated, straightforward yet endearingly warm on the inside,” Im Soo Hyang remarked, “As an actress, I understand deeply the challenges and emotions Park Do Ra faces, allowing me to empathize with her character.”

 

 

Meanwhile, regarding his transformation into a drama PD, Ji Hyun Woo revealed, “I go to the broadcasting station every day to experience what it’s like to be an assistant director for real. Additionally, I also go to filming sets and shadow the staff to observe.”

As time passes, Go Dae Choong, who changed his name to Go Pil Seung, starts working at a broadcasting station as a PD. When he encounters Do Ra, who became a top actress, on set, he is taken aback and tries to avoid working with her, saying, “I really don’t like Park Do Ra. In the video, Im Soo Hyang, who plays the role of top actress Park Do Ra, shows excitement for her first shoot with Ji Hyun Woo and the staff. She shares that the poster’s initial concept was about “Beauty and the Beast” as it can be easily noticed by her yellow dress and Ji Hyun Woo’s blue sweater and that she tried her best to resemble Bella in this poster shooting.

At the same time, Ji Hyun Woo, who takes on the role of PD Go Pil Seung, expresses, “I feel like I got one step closer with the audience as Go Pil Seung by shooting this poster,” and adds, “Our drama will be released in spring, so I hope it will deliver you a spring-like energy,” creating anticipation for a romantic, uplifting, and warm drama.

Over the past 15 years, she has built up an impressive career and filmography while being worked to the bone as a money-making machine for her mother. However, her life undergoes an unexpected change when she happens to run into assistant director Go Pil Seung (Ji Hyun Woo) on the set of a drama.

In newly released stills from “Beauty and Mr. Romantic,” Park Do Ra exhibits laser focus while reading the script for her drama-within-the-drama. Another photo captures the actress with a cold, hardened expression, revealing just how exhausted she is from years of working tirelessly without a break.

“Beauty And Mr. Romantic” Teases Im Soo Hyang And Ji Hyun Woo’s First Meeting As Children

KBS 2TV’s upcoming drama “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” has shared a sneak peek of its leads’ first encounter as children!

“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” will tell the love story of an actress who hits rock bottom overnight and the producing director (PD) who gets her back on her feet out of love. Im Soo Hyang will star as A-list actress Park Do Ra, who has been worked to the bone for years by her ruthless stage mom—and whose life undergoes an unexpected change when she happens to run into assistant director Go Pil Seung (Ji Hyun Woo) on the set of a drama.

Newly released stills from the upcoming drama capture Park Do Ra and Go Pil Seung’s romantic first meeting as children. Lee Seol Ah will play the younger version of Im Soo Hyang, while Moon Sung Hyun will play Ji Hyun Woo’s younger counterpart.

In the photos, Park Do Ra and Go Pil Seung—who went by the name Go Dae Choong as a child—share a conversation in front of Park Do Ra’s house. Do Ra, who seems to have fallen in love at first sight, is unable to hide her smile as she talks to Dae Choong with sparkling eyes.

The “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” production team teased, “Starting from Episode 1, an unusual encounter will unfold between Do Ra and Pil Seung. Please keep an eye on how these two people’s seemingly fated relationship begins, along with the rollercoaster-like story that they will create together in the future.”

“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” premieres on March 23 at 7:55 p.m. KST and will be available to watch on Viki.

Meanwhile, Im Soo Hyang and Ji Hyun Woo’s new romance drama “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” rose to an average nationwide rating of 17.2 percent, marking a nearly 2 percent jump from its premiere the night before. Once again, the drama was the most-watched program of any kind to air the entire day.
