Watch: Jung So Min, Jung Hae In, And More Banter Playfully On Set Of "Love Next Door"

tvN’s “Love Next Door” has unveiled a new adorable making-of video!

 

“Love Next Door” is a new tvN romantic comedy by the director and writer of the hit drama “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.” Jung So Min stars as Bae Seok Ryu, a woman who tries to reboot her troubled life after it goes awry. Jung Hae In plays her mom’s friend’s son Choi Seung Hyo, whom she considers a dark and embarrassing chapter in her life.

Despite filming scenes where Bae Seok Ryu and Choi Seung Hyo bicker, Jung So Min and Jung Hae In showcase affectionate chemistry on set, thoughtfully taking care of one another.

 

While rehearsing a scene where Choi Seung Hyo becomes jealous of Bae Seok Ryu’s ex-fiancé, Jung Hae In jokes by ad-libbing, “She’s not even denying that he is her boyfriend. Oh, I spoke my inner thoughts out loud. I’m sorry.” Seo Ji Hye also thoughtfully offer her mashed potatoes to Jung So Min, and Choi Seung Hyo jokes and asks for a whole bowlful of mashed potatoes.

 

During rehearsals for another scene, Yun Ji On gives it his all while doing push-ups. Kim Ji Eun playfully teases, “You look out of breath,” and mentions that he is giving it all just to impress the making-of camera.

 

While filming, the cast also showcases their tight-knit chemistry. Park Ji Young asks her on-screen son N.Flying’s Lee Seung Hyub about his idol band career, asking, “Do you have around 100 songs?” to which Lee Seung Hyub nods, impressing Park Ji Young.

"Love Next Door" Rises in Ratings, Drops in Netflix Rankings

tvN's Love Next Door scored 6.47% for episode 8, rising from its lowest rating of 3.97% (episode 7) and close to its previous Sunday's rating of 6.78%. But, the K-drama is still far from reaching double digits.  

Love Next Door continues to trend on Netflix, ranking fifth on the Global Top 10 chart from August 26-September 1, down from second place in the previous week (August 19-25). Despite the drop, the K-drama recorded 3.7 million views from August 26-September 1, up from 3 million views from August 19-25.

“Love Next Door” is a romantic comedy by the director and writer of the hit drama “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.” Jung So Min stars as Bae Seok Ryu, a woman who tries to reboot her troubled life after it goes awry. On the previous episode of “Love Next Door,” Choi Seung Hyo and Bae Seok Ryu playfully decided on the “expiration date” by which she would have to respond to his confession of his feelings. However, the episode ended on a dark note when it came to light that Bae Seok Ryu had undergone treatment for stomach cancer in the United States three years ago.

 

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, Choi Seung Hyo and Bae Seok Ryu return to the playground where they often comforted one another and made many precious memories as children. However, in stark contrast to the past, there is an uncomfortable tension between the longtime friends as they awkwardly avoid each other’s gaze.

Another set of stills captures the pair at the same place on a different night, wearing sorrowful expressions that make it clear something has happened between them. In one photo, the two friends sit silently on the swings together, the air heavy with the weight of words unspoken.

On the previous episode of “Love Next Door,” the story of how Bae Seok Ryu ended up calling off her engagement and quitting her job was finally revealed. With her wounds yet not healed, Bae Seok Ryu chose to turn down both Choi Seung Hyo’s confession and her ex-fiancé’s proposal. However, when Choi Seung Hyo happened to find out about Bae Seok Ryu’s battle with cancer, their relationship reached another turning point.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, Bae Seok Ryu sets off to visit the seaside on her own, and Choi Seung Hyo follows her to the beach to find her. There, the two wind up angrily venting their frustrations at one another in the water.

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Love Next Door: I’m done with both exes, but yay for Seung-hyo finally being honest about his feelings! I’m even less excited about the random health scare (though, with a paramedic in the cast, I figured there’d be a few medical emergencies along the way), but here’s hoping it at least leads to even more honesty all around. Much as I’m still very much rooting for these two, however, I’m finding myself much more invested in the side relationships — especially Seung-hyo’s parents and Mo-eum/Dan-ho (plus his daughter, of course!).

Love Next Door: This drama is what happens when you have all the right ingredients and a trusty old recipe, but something goes wrong during the cooking process and you end up with a dish that looks good, smells good, but tastes bland. But it would appear that I’m hungry seeing how I still press “play” every week.

The tvN drama Love Next Door achieved a nationwide rating of 5.54% for episode 10, a decent improvement from 4.54% (episode 9). However, it couldn't surpass its previous Sunday episode's viewership of 6.47%. Nevertheless, it remained the most-watched in its time slot. Love Next Door has managed to secure a spot on Netflix's Global Top 10 list for four consecutive weeks.
