Go Yoon Jung may be starring in a new drama by the “Hospital Playlist” producing director (PD)!

On July 5, JTBC reported that Go Yoon Jung will star in a new drama by PD Shin Won Ho who helmed the “Hospital Playlist” and “Reply” series.

In response to the report, Go Yoon Jung’s agency MMA shared, “It is true that [Go Yoon Jung] had a meeting with the production team, but nothing has been decided yet.”

Previously in June, tvN announced that PD Shin Won Ho will participate in a new drama as a creator and that auditions are underway. The upcoming drama by Shin Won Ho was reported to be a new project that follows the narrative of the “Hospital Playlist” series. However, nothing regarding the story and cast has been confirmed yet.

Go Youn Jung will possibly be the next main lead of director Shin Won Ho's next work.

On July 5, media outlets reported that Go Youn Jung will be working with director Shin Won Ho on a new K-drama project. 

Go Youn Jung's agency MAA responded to the casting news. According to the agency, "It is true that actress Go Youn Jung had a meeting with director Shin Won Ho and his production team. But nothing has been officially decided yet."

Last month, there were reports that director Shin Won Ho is creating a prequel of Hospital Playlist that will air on tvN. tvN and the production team of Shin Won Ho PD denied the prequel news. Instead, they shared that Shin Won Ho PD will be working in a new drama as a creator and not a director. The theme of the K-drama is not yet revealed. 

Director Shin Won Ho is known for helming the hit K-dramas  Prison Playbook, Reply 1988, Reply 1994, Reply 1997, and Hospital Playlist.

Meanwhile, there are no other details revealed yet about the upcoming K-drama that will be participated by director Shin Won Ho. 

 

If Go Youn Jung confirms her casting, this will be her third upcoming K-drama. 

The actress will soon star in the upcoming Disney+ original K-drama Moving with Ryu Seung Ryong, Han Hyo Joo, Zo In Sung, Cha Tae Hyun, Ryu Seung Beom, and Kim Sung Kyun.

Ko Yoon-Jung is cast for a lead role in new tvN drama series “Someday Wise Resident Life” (literal title). The drama series is a spin-off from “Hospital Playlist” and “Hospital Playlist 2.” While those two drama series were set Yulje Medical Center, the spin-off drama series will be set at its branch hospital Jongno Yulje Medical Center. Actress Go Youn Jung will officially lead the upcoming K-drama Someday Wise Resident Life.

On September 20, it was officially confirmed that Go Youn Jung will be the main lead to the spin-off of the 2020 hit K-drama  Hospital Playlist. 

This will be the next project of Go Youn Jung after the upcoming JTBC K-drama Death's Game with Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, Kim Ji Hoon, Kim Jae Wook, Lee Do Hyun, and more.

Director Shin Won Ho's team will reportedly begin filming this year for their upcoming new K-drama.

On July 13th, various media outlets shared that director Shin Won Ho who's known for creating the hit K-dramas  Prison Playbook, Reply 1988, Reply 1994, Reply 1997, and Hospital Playlist will officially start filming their new series this coming October. It was also reported that the new K-drama is set to premiere in March 2024. 

For the upcoming K-drama, actress Go Youn Jung got the offer to be the main lead. 

The upcoming K-drama will be directed by Drama Special Season 13: Stain director, Lee Min Soo. Director Shin Won Ho will be working as a creator of the series.

With all the circulating reports, tvN the broadcast channel of the upcoming K-drama shared their side. On September 22, JTBC Entertainment News reported that Kang You Seok has been cast in the lead role in the upcoming “Hospital Playlist” spin-off drama “A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday” (literal title).

Meet the new resident doctors in Hospital Playlist spinoff

Expectations have been high ever since the team behind Hospital Playlist announced the spin-off for their beloved show. So it’s exciting to see that things are moving full steam ahead in the production of The Not Yet Wise Resident Life with the news of their main cast Go Yoon-jung (Moving), Shin Shi-ah (The Witch: Part 2), Kang Yoo-seok (Black Knight), Jung Joon-won (A Model Family), and rookie Han Ye-ji.

The premise is similar to the original, but instead of following an airtight group of amazing professional doctor friends, we’ll follow the lives of our cast playing four green OBGYN residents as they navigate the late nights, urgent demands, and social pressures that come with the start of their medical careers at Yulje Medical Center’s Jongno branch (not the main branch where the original characters work). They may have a long way to go before they’re as thoughtful as Yang Seok-hyung or as cool-under-pressure as Chae Song-hwa, but what they do have is passion in spades.

 

Everything about this drama feels like a changing of the guard, even down to the production. While the original writer-director duo behind the Reply and Hospital Playlist series Lee Woo-jung and Shin Won-ho are attached to this project, they’ve taken more of a creative supervisory role while the actual job of writing and directing the drama is being handled by Kim Song-hee (who was an assistant writer for Reply 1988 and Hospital Playlist) and PD Lee Min-soo (Heartbeat). My hopes are high that even with a new team, this show doesn’t lose sight of the empathetic humanism that made the original series so great.

Furthermore, besides the uber-popular mega-talented Go Yoon-jung, while I can’t say I’m too familiar with the rest of the cast, with the Reply series’ storied history of launching the careers of its rookie actors, I’m excited to see how these fresh faces will turn into some of dramaland’s must-watch favs.

The Not Yet Wise Resident Life is slated to premiere in 2024 on tvN.

Seo Yi Seo to Join Go Youn Jung in "A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday"

Rising actor Seo Yi Seo is confirmed to be added to the cast of A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday.  

On November 28, media outlets confirmed that Seo Yi Seo will be joining Go Youn Jung, Shin Shi Ah, Kang Yoo Seok, Jung Joon Won, Han Ye Ji, and Lee Chang Hoon in the upcoming K-drama  A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday.  

This will be the first official project of Seo Yi Seo for 2024. Before the year ends, the actor will first star in the one act play Drama Special Season 14: Overlap Knife, Knife with Kim Dong Hwi, Jo Aram, Shim Yi Young, and Joo Seok Tae. 

This year, he also appeared in the Disney+ original K-drama Call It Love led by Kim Young Kwang, Lee Sung Kyung, Sung Joon, EXID's Ahn Hee Yeon, and Kim Ye Won.

Seo Yi Seo made his acting debut in 2021 through the Daum Kakao TV K-drama Pumpkin Time. Since then, he has been actively participating in several K-dramas and movies. 

Seo Yi Seo is signed under YG Stage.

A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday will showcase the real-life stories, friendships, and struggles of professors and residents at a university hospital. The K-drama will focus on the obstetricians and gynecologists at the Jongno Yulje Hospital. 

The upcoming spin-off of Hospital Playlist will be the collaboration work of director Lee Min Soo (The Secret House and Good For You)  and writer Kim Song Hee. The original team of Hospital Playlist director Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung will join the production of the K-drama as creators.

In the series, Seo Yi Seo will play the role of Park Joon Seok, a resident of the Department of Emergency Medicine for four years. This will be the first time that Seo Yi Seo will star in a medical K-drama genre. 

A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday will premiere in the first half of 2024. The upcoming K-drama will exclusively premiere on tvN.

tvN’s upcoming “Hospital Playlist” spin-off drama has shared its first look of Go Yoon Jung as a resident!

On January 10, tvN revealed the first still for its new drama “A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday” (literal title) along with additional cast members.

“A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday” is a drama which will depict the realistic and relatable hospital lives and turbulent friendships of doctors and residents at the Jongro branch of Yulje Medical Center. Director Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung, who produced the “Reply” series and the “Hospital Playlist” series, will participate as creators in the new project. On top of actors Go Yoon Jung, Kang You Seok, and Shin Si Ah, who were previously confirmed to star in the drama, Han Ye Ji and Jung Joon Won also joined the cast.

The newly released still features Go Yoon Jung, who transforms into a first-year Obstetrics and Gynecology resident at the Jongro branch of Yulje Medical Center.
