Joo Won Transforms Into A Dark Hero Who Steals To Protect Korea’s Cultural Assets In “Stealer: The Treasure Keeper”

tvN’s upcoming drama “Stealer: The Treasure Keeper” has unveiled its first stills of Joo Won!

“Stealer: The Treasure Keeper” is a caper comic action drama in which a mysterious cultural asset thief Skunk and an unofficial heritage redemption team known as Team Karma collaborate to fight against those who cannot be judged by the law. Joo Won will be taking on the double role of both Hwang Dae Myung, a civil servant of the Cultural Heritage Administration, and the mysterious cultural asset thief Skunk.

In the newly released stills, Skunk exudes a powerful and charismatic aura in a black suit and goggles even while standing still. Next to Skunk, who seems to have finished his job and attained the cultural asset that he wanted, there is a person lying on the floor and another person just watching him walk out of the room and not daring to attack him.

Meanwhile, the image below captures ordinary civil servant Hwang Dae Myung during the daytime. The fierce charisma of Skunk who punishes the cultural asset traffickers is gone, and there is only a warm smile and relaxed expression on his face. Dae Myung sometimes takes a nap during his work hours due to his covert operation at night, but it is difficult for his co-workers to hate him when he showcases his trademark smile that makes viewers’ hearts flutter.

The newly released teaser begins with Hwang Dae Myung dozing off during his work hours, hilariously wearing glasses with eyes printed on them so that no one realizes he is sleeping. Nonetheless, his co-worker Jin Ae Ri (Min Soo Hwa) quickly catches on, yelling to startle him awake.

Joo Won Is Confident Despite Being Caught Red-Handed In “Stealer: The Treasure Keeper” Poster

tvN’s upcoming drama “Stealer: The Treasure Keeper” has unveiled a new main poster!

The poster exposes cultural asset thief Skunk’s true face which is usually hidden behind a mask. It is Hwang Dae Myung, a civil servant working at the Cultural Heritage Administration, whose eyes shine brightly. The place he gently lands on using a wire is presumed to be a secret place where someone has hidden lost cultural assets. Even though he is caught red-handed, Hwang Dae Myung does not panic and gazes directly at the person who is putting the spotlight on him.

Joo-won balances work and crime-fighting in new teaser

by Jenzy

Being a vigilante can take a huge toll on your body. Just ask our civil-servant-by-day-art-thief-by-night and his battle with his lack of sleep. In the second teaser for tvN’s upcoming Stealer: The Treasure Keeper, we see Joo-won (Alice) struggle to balance his day job as Hwang Dae-myung with all his clandestine night outings as the moniker Skunk.

He might be a complete slacker at his cover job at the cultural heritage department, much to the annoyance to his determined coworker police officer Choi Min-woo — played by Lee Joo-woo (Why Her?) — but he’s fully committed to righting the wrongs of the art world. He’ll steal art acquired by sketchy means and send it to the Jang Tae-in — played by Jo Han-chul (Big Bet) — the head of the secret government art recovery team Karma. Intrigued by this mysterious ally, Tae-in seeks to figure out Skunk’s identity and possibly bring him in as a team member.

And of course, because no heist is complete without a behind the desk crew, the rest of the Karma team consists of Kim Jae-won (Our Blues) playing the team maknae Shin Chang-hoon, and Choi Hwa-jung (Jealousy Incarnate) as the elite hacker Lee Choon-ja.

The teaser opens on Dae-myung sleeping on the job, getting his ear talked off by Min-woo, and generally being unbothered by any responsibility. This is a marked contrast to the following shots of him breaking into buildings and beating up thugs while in the voiceover, we hear an incredulous Min-woo ask Tae-in, “Where did you get all of these art pieces?” “Skunk stole them and sent them to me.”

Skunk’s a thief that steals from thieves, the title cards tell us. And if the gun Tae-in points at him is any indication, Karma is very interested in knowing his identity. However, it looks like the secrecy won’t last long, since the teaser ends with Dae-myung leveling a cool look and admitting to someone, “It’s me. I’m Skunk.”

Written by Shin Kyung-il and directed by Choi Joon-bae (Mouse), Stealer: The Treasure Keeper will premiere on tvN on April 12.

+Charismatic cultural heritage expert team leader Jang Tae-in

Lee Joo-woo X Jo Han-cheol's first stills released

Lee Deok-hwa, a hairy steel old man (Stealer)

image_readtop_2023_216495_16792893015395

Lee Deok-hwa, an actor of authority, returns as a greedy man of power.

Lee Deok-hwa takes on the role of Kim Yeong-soo, a villain who is insatiable even with numerous cultural assets in his hands, and properly shows the end of human greed. Kim Yeong-soo was born into a pro-Japanese family during the Japanese colonial period and enjoyed wealth and honor. After liberation, he served in various government positions such as prosecutor and minister of land, and is now a master of Kwon Mosul who runs the Mugunghwa Cultural Heritage Foundation.

In particular, Hwang Dae-myeong (played by Joo Won), a civil servant at the Cultural Heritage Administration and a skunk thief of cultural assets, and Karma, an unofficial cultural property recovery team, are perfectly opposite opponents, predicting a bloody confrontation. Even though he is already living a full-fledged life, his endless greed, which is not satisfied, creates a conflict with Skunk.

The appearance of Kim Young-soo in the public photos makes us guess the size of his greed. You can get a glimpse of Kim Young-soo's aesthetic and ostentatious side through his arrogant expression as if he has the world under his feet, as well as his unusual outfit. Here, you can clearly read the difference from the all-black skunk just by looking at it.

Expectations are high for Lee Deok-hwa's acting, which will portray Kim Young-soo's life skills, who survived like a tenacious man in a rapidly changing era and rose to the present position. The synergy that actors Lee Deok-hwa and Joo-won, who have an overwhelming presence that cannot be disputed in Korea, meet and show, raises curiosity about 'Stealer'.

tvN's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Stealer: Seven Chosun Reports' will premiere on Wednesday, April 12 at 10:30 pm.

Her fiery personality is what makes Choi Min Woo unable to achieve her dream of joining the homicide team and she’s instead assigned to the cultural heritage team. Despite being shoved into the far corner of the office, this team leads Choi Min Woo to experience the most thrilling moments of her career in the police force.

In Choi Min Woo’s first still, she gives a soft smile in her police uniform. The next photo captures her charismatic personality as she flags down a criminal and motions for them to come to her. Stay tuned to find out how Choi Min Woo ends up joining Team Karma!

Jo Han Chul portrays the cultural heritage team’s leader Jang Tae In who ignites a fire in Choi Min Woo’s “second prime.” Jang Tae In previously worked as the talented team leader of the drug squad, but after making the huge mistake of damaging a Korean national treasure, he fatefully or coincidentally realizes the value of cultural assets. After working with the cultural asset team for the past decade, Jang Tae In has developed enough professional knowledge to earn a doctorate degree.

While chasing down cultural asset thief Skunk, Jang Tae In decides to create Team Karma and enlists only the best members, including Choi Min Woo, for this secret project. In Jang Tae In’s new photos, his gaze is somewhere in between softness and sharpness while simultaneously highlighting his rigidity. Viewers should look forward to discovering Jang Tae In’s skills as the leader of Team Karma as well as his chemistry with Choi Min Woo, the team’s ace.

tvN has dropped an intriguing poster for “Stealer: The Treasure Keeper”!

Earlier this month, the drama unveiled their first poster which shows Skunk getting caught red-handed during his heist. The newly released second poster reveals the full scene as the entire room is lit up.

Beneath Skunk, who is still hanging on a wire, members of Team Karma are busy at work carrying out their secret missions in matching all-black outfits. In front, there’s Team Karma’s ace Choi Min Woo (Lee Joo Woo) alongside the group’s leader Jang Tae In (Jo Han Chul). Behind the desk are Lee Chun Ja (Choi Hwa Jung), a genius hacker, and Team Karma’s playful maknae Shin Chang Hoon (Kim Jae Won).

Even in the midst of an intense, high-stakes heist, the team looks confident and optimistic, which suits the poster’s intriguing copy that reads, “The thieves who rob thieves are coming!”

In the middle of it all is villain Kim Young Soo (Lee Deok Hwa), who sits comfortably as his desk and flashes a gleeful smile while admiring a cultural artifact. Being so engrossed in carefully wiping down these treasures, he fails to recognize all the righteous thieves surrounding him.

tvN has dropped an exciting main teaser for “Stealer: The Treasure Keeper”!

“Stealer: The Treasure Keeper” is an upcoming caper comic action drama in which a mysterious cultural asset thief Skunk and an unofficial heritage redemption team known as Team Karma collaborate to fight against those who cannot be judged by the law. Joo Won will be taking on the double role of both Hwang Dae Myung, a civil servant of the Cultural Heritage Administration, and the mysterious cultural asset thief Skunk.

The latest teaser starts with Team Karma’s leader Jang Tae In (Jo Han Chul) stating quietly, “Cultural assets…” Hwang Dae Myung excitedly finishes his sentence saying “Cannot be given to the bad guys!”

This kicks off Team Karma and Skunk’s joint unofficial and unlawful mission of protecting cultural assets. In addition to Jang Tae In, Team Karma consists of members Choi Min Woo (Lee Joo W00), Shin Chang Hoon (Kim Jae Won), and Lee Chun Ja (Cha Hwa Jung). The funny back story behind Skunk’s name is revealed when Lee Chun Ja shows off Hwang Dae Myung’s special work suit that emits an unknown gas and knocks him out instantly.

While working with police officer Choi Min Woo, Hwang Dae Myung shows off his quirky side by asking about pay, but he boasts an entirely different personality when presenting himself as Skunk. Even when outnumbered by a group of bad guys, Skunk displays his talent as a dark hero by using a single rope to take them down and easily escape from a high-rise building.

As Skunk and Team Karma continue putting their lives on the line to protect cultural assets, villain Kim Young Soo (Lee Deok Hwa), who runs the Mugunghwa Cultural Foundation, exemplifies his greed as he cries out, “Why do I keep having to taste failure?” How will Team Karma be able to recover cultural assets from Kim Young Soo, a master of trickery?
