Woo Do Hwan, in his portrayal of Geon Woo, revealed that his character initially relies solely on boxing to overpower his opponents. However, as the story unfolds, Geon Woo learns street fighting techniques, which he skillfully incorporates to confront the ruthless loan shark, Myung Gil (Park Sung Woong). This promises an intriguing narrative arc, highlighting Geon Woo's evolution and his action-packed journey.

Lee Sang Yi, who plays Hong Woo Jin, stated that his character gradually evolves and exhibits an increasingly proficient level of combat. Woo Jin's fighting style involves a combination of strategic moves, such as mesmerizing opponents with his right hand and delivering powerful blows with his left, while deftly evading incoming attacks.

The series offers a contrast between the two protagonists, whose distinct personalities complement each other, leading to perfect synergy in their action sequences.

In addition to the captivating performances, the actors' dedication and the blood and sweat that went into the physical transformation are worth noting. Woo Do Hwan commented, "To build body, I packed my lunch box and ate four meals a day to gain 22 pounds, and finally I could see my body gradually changing". And Lee Sang Yi also emphasized the importance of building ripped abs and honing the physique of a seasoned boxer through rigorous training.

Park Sung Woong's portrayal of the merciless loan shark, Kim Myung Gil, deserves special mention. Stunt coordinator Park Young Sik emphasized that Myung Gil's actions would be characterized by cunning, ruthlessness, and an unscrupulous approach, incorporating a variety of weapon-based and stunning fight scenes. Park Sung Woong “From all the villains I have played so far, Myeong Gil is the one with a different charm. I tried to show him as a cold-blooded side man driven by an unwavering determination to achieve his goals".

Director Kim expressed his admiration for the extraordinary efforts of the cast and their ability to bring the intense action sequences to life. Stunt coordinator Park Young Sik praised Woo Do Hwan as one of the most skilled young actors in performing action scenes, while also praising Lee Sang Yi's impressive growth as an action hero, despite it being his first attempt in the genre.

With only a few days left till the premiere of the action thriller, the global streaming service Netflix released a new trailer for its original drama Bloodhounds

The trailer commences with President Choi (Heo Joon Ho) saying, "Myung Gil (Park Sung Woong) is a very dangerous and cruel man. He'll send the bloodhounds".

The following scenes show Myung Gil's power and position in the loan shark industry as he says, "I'm in the investment business. Since you're 100 billion short, I should invest that much" as if it's a trivial amount for him to get his hands on.

He then stands facing Kim Geon Woo (Woo Do Hwan), who fearfully asks him, "What do you want?", to which Myung Gil replies, "Pay us back".

He then signals his man to beat Geon Woo, and Geon Woo in his futile attempt punches the man only to get beat down by the tough cookie.

In the next scene Hong Woo Jin (Lee Sang Yi), while looking at a business card of a loan shark exclaims, "Only the loan sharks are having a blast", to which Geon Woo asks, "Why?". Woo Jin replies, "The more desperate you are, the easier it is to rip you off".

Woo Jin learns of Geon Woo's loans and tells him he should pay them back, but the desperate boxer says he doesn't have money.

President Choi then resolutely says, "I'm going to end Myung Gil and Smile Capital", and forms an alliance with Woo Jin and Geon Woo to fight the nefarious criminal and put an end to his business.

What follows are brief flashes of the boxers' struggles, their battle against Myung Gil's army of fighters, and their determination to continue to fight even if costs their lives.

The trailer ends with Woo Jin saying to Geon Woo, "You have a heart of a boxer", with the two of them laughing their heart out.

Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi versus the world in Bloodhounds

by missvictrix

BH_4.jpg

K-dramas don’t normally run on sheer testosterone, but Netflix’s upcoming series Bloodhounds sure does. Front and center of the new trailer are our heroes Woo Do-hwan (Joseon Attorney) and Lee Sang-yi (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) as Kim Gun-woo and Hong Woo-jin, respectively. They seem like good-hearted chaps who a) are down on their luck b) possibly got in with the wrong crowd and c) pack a mean punch.

Among nine million jump cuts that show us way to much of the drama, the inciting action seems to be when the “very dangerous and cruel” loan shark Park Sung-woong (Unlock the Boss) shows up and threatens our hero and his family over the debts they can’t repay.

Amidst all the chaos and fierce fights, it looks like both Gun-woo and Woo-jin join forces with Heo Joon-ho (Missing: The Other Side 2). Gun-woo says, “All I know how to do is fight” — but hey, looks like that’s exactly what is needed in the underbelly in which they’re currently trapped. Later, we see the two boys training together, seeing how desperate people are being taken advantage of, and even get a peek at some bromantic moments. These two boxers are definitely at the heart of this drama, and so it should be.

The trailer also gives us a glimpse of some of the other cast members: Choi Siwon (Work Now, Drink Later 2), Ryu Soo-young (Queenmaker), and Tae Won-seok (Under the Queen’s Umbrella) — with Kim Sae-ron (Kiss Sixth Sense) conspicuously missing.

Written and directed by Kim Joo-hwan (The Divine Fury), Bloodhounds drops its eight episodes on June 9.

Watch: Woo Do Hwan And Lee Sang Yi Use Their Boxing Experience To Take Down Park Sung Woong In “Bloodhounds” Teaser

May 27, 2023
by S. Cho
20230527152547_Bloodhounds-3.jpg?s=900x6

Netflix’s “Bloodhounds” has unveiled a second teaser!

Based on the webtoon of the same name, “Bloodhounds” is an action noir about two young people who step into the world of loan sharks in pursuit of money and get caught up in a web of much darker forces.

Woo Do Hwan stars as Gun Woo, who enters the world of loan sharks to pay off his debts. After Gun Woo meets Mr. Choi (Heo Joon Ho), the once promising boxer becomes a bodyguard. Lee Sang Yi will take on the role of Woo Jin, a fellow former boxer who ends up working with Gun Woo. Park Sung Woong will play Myeong Gil, a vicious loan shark driven solely by money who will get into a tense conflict with Mr. Choi.

The latest teaser kicks off with Mr. Choi explaining, “Myeong Gil is an incredibly tough and cruel man.” He adds, “I’m going to send the bloodhounds.”

Super Junior‘s Choi Siwon then makes a brief appearance as someone in a meeting with Myeong Gil, who shares that he works in investments. Myeong Gil casually comments, “Since you’re short 100 billion won [approximately $75,561,200], I’ll put up 100 billion won.”

Myeong Gil approaches Gun Woo and his mother and asks them to repay their loan. When they remain still, Myeong Gil nonchalantly instructs his minions to attack Gun Woo.

Later, Gun Woo and Woo Jin look over an ad for special loans with super low interest rates specifically targeting those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Woo Jin explains, “The more desperate someone is, the easier they are to prey on.” As he urges Gun Woo to repay his own loans, Gun Woo sadly responds, “I have no money.”

Eventually, the pair teams up with Mr. Choi, a legend in the world of loan sharks, who firmly expresses his determination to take down his enemy Myeong Gil. Gun Woo explains, “The only thing I know how to do is use my strength, but I want to be of help until the end,” with Woo Jin quickly agreeing.

Although Myeong Gil instructs his team to cut their throats, the pair proves to be harder to kill than anticipated. Mr. Choi reminds them, “This is a war that only ends when someone dies.”

At the end, Myeong Gil holds down a bloodied Gun Woo and asks, “Do you want to work under me?” Wordlessly, Gun Woo responds by spitting blood in Myeong Gil’s face.

Premiere Watch: Bloodhounds

by missvictrix

Time slot: Friday (single drop)
Broadcaster: Netflix
Genre: Action, crime, thriller
Episode count: 8

0w4WPO_2f.jpg

Reasons to watch: With the super-enticing cast of Woo Do-hwan, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Jun-ho, and Park Sung-woong, Netflix’s upcoming series Bloodhounds is certainly going to be a fun watch if you like stories of underdogs underdogging. Woo Do-hwan plays a promising boxer whose dreams are cut short due to his family’s debts and the predatory loan shark that won’t give them peace.

The story might be old as time, but with the directer/writer of Midnight Runners at the fore, I think we can rest assured that we’ll at least have a Woo Do-hwan x Lee Sang-yi bromance, loads of well-choreographed street fighting, bloody knuckles, broken dreams, and hopefully some twists along the way, too. And in a drama cycle that’s brimming with upcoming rom-coms, some mean left hooks are more than welcome too. You know, for diversity.

TL;DR: Woo Do-hwan x Lee Sang-yi tear it up as underground fighters

Particularly, Choi Si Won showcases the rough and unstable inner state of 'Hong Min Beom' within the dangerous power struggle, delivering a detailed performance that encompasses his gaze, gestures, and emotional lines. He creates a character that lingers in the audience's minds, generating tension.

Above all, Choi Si Won skillfully portrays the evolving dynamics of the character, from the treacherous loan shark Kim Myung Gil' to the psychological battles and bromance with his cousin, 'Min Kang Yong' (played by Choi Young Joon), making the drama even more intriguing.

Through this performance, Choi Si Won showcases a completely different aspect from his previous roles as the 'romantic comedy expert' in works like 'Love Is for Suckers' and 'Work Later, Drink Now,' reaffirming his wide range of acting abilities and building anticipation for his future endeavors.

I thought his character was bad at first but when he got trapped being the spoiled chaebol, and needed his cousin’s help the storyline upped his likeability quotient with me.  Another pair of brothers battling it out with the bad guys
