tvN has released the second teaser for their upcoming drama “Bulgasal” (literal title)!

“Bulgasal” is a fantasy drama starring Lee Jin Wook as Dan Hwal, a bulgasal (a mythical creature that can never die or age) who was once a human 600 years ago. Kwon Nara stars as Min Sang Woon, a woman who is reincarnated again and again while running away from the bulgasal but remembers all her past lives. Lee Joon co-stars as Ok Eul Tae, a mysterious figure, and Gong Seung Yeon co-stars as Dan Sol, Dan Hwal’s wife 600 years ago. Other cast members include Jung Jin Young, Park Myung Shin, and UP10TION’s Kim Woo Seok.

The new teaser begins with Lee Jin Wook wandering the streets of the city as a mysterious hooded and shadowed figure. In voice-over, he says, “For so long, I’ve been wandering while searching for you.” He raises his face and is transported back in time 600 years ago to when he was a human. Kwon Nara also appears in the teaser, first in modern dress and then in a bright red dress 600 years ago in the past, previewing the fateful meeting between their two characters. The caption reads, “The story of a sad but beautiful relationship of a man who cannot die or be killed.”

Lee Jin Wook crosses paths with Kwon Nara in new teaser for tvN`s Immortal Souls

A new video teaser has been released for tvN’s upcoming drama Immortal Souls, featuring lead actors Lee Jin-wook (Sweet Home) and Kwon Nara (Secret Royal Investigator).

In an epic-style romance spanning 600 years, Lee Jin-wook plays the once human Dan-hwal who was cursed with immortality and became a being called the Bulgasal. His fate, however, is tragically tied to Kwon Nara and he is trapped in the never ending cycle of re-meeting each of her reincarnations as time passes.

 

The teaser opens with a shadowy Lee Jin-wook walking down a back alley, his face hidden under a hood. The text screen introduces him as someone who “cannot be killed, cannot die.” As the scene transitions to Lee Jin-wook 600 years ago, he narrates, “For a long time, I have struggled while looking for you.” The next caption reads: “One man’s sad but beautiful fate.” We then cut to Kwon Nara turning around to see Lee Jin-wook in the present day before the scene transitions to her past. The teaser comes to a close as Lee and Kwon stand to look at each other.

 

Directing for the drama is PD Jang Young-woo (Entourage, I Need Romance 3) with scripts penned by the married writer team who wrote The Guest, Seo Jae-won and Kwon So-ra. The three have worked together on several projects in the past, including Entourage.

“Bulgasal” is a fantasy drama about a woman who has experienced many reincarnations over the past 600 years while remembering all her past lives and a man who is immortal and has lived for over 600 years as a bulgasal, a mythical creature that feeds on human blood.

Lee Jin Wook stars as the bulgasal named Dan Hwal, and Kwon Nara plays Min Sang Woon, the woman who keeps getting reincarnated while fleeing from the bulgasal that is pursuing her. Lee Joon takes the role of Ok Eul Tae, a refreshing and energetic person with a good personality, whereas Gong Seung Yeon stars as Dan Sol, Dan Hwal’s wife 600 years ago. Jung Jin Young stars as Dan Geuk, who is Dan Sol’s father, and Park Myung Shin plays Munyeo (a female shaman), who lived 600 years ago. UP10TION’s Kim Woo Seok takes the role of Nam Do Yoon, who doesn’t feel overpowered by the bulgasal and follows him around like he’s an older brother.

The newly released poster features the seven characters who has been intertwined for 600 years. In particular, they all experience different flows of time. Some are from the past, others are reincarnated, and one has been living alone for a long time.

Dan Hwal’s expressions are shadowed with unknown emotions. Despite the fact that he’s been living as a vengeful creature who feeds on human blood, his gaze is filled with sadness. Min Sang Woon looks in a different direction than him with hurt eyes.

Ok Eul Tae is a tremendously wealthy man and powerful supporter of politicians, but his identity is still a mystery. His eyes are cold without emotions, doubling the tension. On the other hand, Dan Sol has abilities that others cannot understand, and she stares sorrowfully into the distance while wearing graceful hanbok (traditional Korean clothing).

Dan Geuk exudes solemn charisma with his sword and armor, and Munyeo creates a strange atmosphere with her cryptic appearance. Nam Do Yoon, who usually wears a bright smile on his face, gazes downward with a serious expression, piquing curiosity about his backstory.

Amid scenes of bloodshed and fire, Lee Jin Wook vows in fury, “I will find you first. No matter how many times you reincarnate.” Back in modern times, Kwon Nara says to someone off-camera, “I will never be caught.” The rest of the teaser flashes between dark and bloody events in both past and future as Lee Jin Wook says, “I’m the last monster still living on this earth.
