Contrasting looks of Jang Keun-suk, Yeo Jin-goo

Posters for SBS’ forthcoming periodic TV series “Daebak” featuring actors Jang Keun-suk and Yeo Jin-goo were released, on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, showing the sharp contrast in their image although they play brothers.

Jang, wearing shabby, worn-out clothes and headgear gazes at the camera, while Yeo, dressed in a traditional overcoat, avoids direct eye contact. 


Jang is acting a forgotten, stranded son of the King Sukjong of Joseon Dynasty who wanders across the nation while gambling. Yeo plays his younger brother, who later turns out to be the next king of the dynasty, King Yeongjo. The fictional historic drama revolves around their lives as gamblers.

“Daebak” will air in place of another periodic TV series “Six Flying Dragon,” on Mondays and Tuesdays starting March 28.

Jang Geun Suk Faces Unknown Threat in “Daebak” Stills

On March 14, the upcoming SBS drama “Daebak” released some still cuts ofJang Geun Suk looking intense in full historical costume.

In the pictures, Jang Geun Suk is facing off with an unknown person in the middle of a snowy scene. He is dressed in rough, humble clothing and a wide-brimmed traditional bamboo hat (satgat) while two blades are held to his throat.


Despite the imminent danger, Jang Geun Suk stares defiantly at the person in front of him. “From the first script reading, he impressed us with his ability to get into character,” the production staff said. “When he acted out the scene, he was so perfectly in character that we just watched with bated breath.”


“Daebak” is a fictional historical drama about a prince named Dae Gil (Jang Geun Suk) who was forgotten by his father and comes into conflict with his younger brother (Yeo Jin Goo). The first episode will air on March 28 at 10 p.m. KST following the end of “Six Flying Dragons.”

Steal cut of Jang Keun Suk from drama 'Jackpot' revealed

A steal cut from Jang Keun Suk's new drama, 'Jackpot (working title),' has been revealed.

Channel SBS' new TV series, 'Jackpot (working title),' is going to be a historical fiction drama that evolves around a king's forgotten son named Dae Gil, and his younger brother, Prince Yeoning (played by Yeo Jin Gu).

'Jackpot' is going to show the continuous life-threatening competition that Dae Gil and Prince Yeoning goes through to become the future king of Joseon, and the drama is being talked about as one of the most anticipated dramas of the year.

One of the biggest reasons of people's such huge anticipation in 'Jackpot' is that Jang Keun Suk is going to make his first comeback to TV screen in two years since two years ago.

Earlier, a solo teaser poster of Jang Keun Suk was released through major websites, and many fans and netizens had showed explosive reactions.

On March 14th, the production team of 'Jackpot' decided to release a steal cut of Jang Keun Suk, who is playing in the drama as Dae Gil.

The photo shows Jang Keun Suk sitting under falling snow, and facing someone. Jang Keun Suk is showing charismatic look in outfits of dark colors, and a had that covers his forehead, and he is standing two swords crossed right before his throat.

Many people are now showing huge curiosity about whose swords those would be, and even though he is standing on the verge of life and death, Jang Keun Suk is calmly staring at the person standing right before his eyes.

A representative of the drama's production team said, "Jang Keun Suk largely surprised all of us from the very first script reading rehearsal, and he is participating in every shoot with the same energy and concentration."

The representative also said, "All of the staffs were mesmerized by Jang Keun Suk's fabulous performance, and we hope that many fans and viewers would show a lot of warm love and support for Jang Keun Suk and the drama."

Meanwhile, 'Jackpot' is going to evolve around a forgotten prince of Joseon, named Dae Gil, and his younger brother, who later on becomes King Youngjo of Joseon.

'Jackpot' reveals Jang Geun-seok's still images from his first take






SBS has allotted the airtime of Monday & Tuesday dramas to period dramas for the second time in a row. While 'Six Flying Dragons' has been keeping its first place of viewership rating securely, a new period drama will begin on March 28th.

"Jackpot" depicts a big match between a forgotten prince, Dae-gil (Jang Geun-seok) and his younger brother Prince Yeonying over the throne, life and love.

The bold storyline putting the match at the frontline of the drama, the sturdy structure of story, the historical background as well as the history based fiction boosted by the writer's imagination, and finally the cast of the famous and powerful actors make "Jackpot" the most anticipated drama in the first of this year.

Jang Geun-seok's comeback to the small screen in two years also raises the level of anticipation. On March 14th, "Jackpot" production team has unveiled the still images of Jang Geun-seok from his first take, who transformed into the forgotten prince, Dae-gil.

In the revealed images, Jang Geun-seok (Dae-gil) is facing someone, whose identity is unknown, in a snow falling field. His clothing in the dark neutral color palette, and the straw hat covering his forehead, and the two blades aiming his neck right underneath his chin explain Dae-gils' turbulent life.

Jang Geun-seok's potential as a great actor also shined during the first take without any reserve. Jang Geun-seok's actin performance by transforming himselfe into Dae-gil completely kept the production team breathless.
