and to think it was such a most anticipated concert date! i remember watching it the first time. i was in love with taek but i thought JH was the husband. i was expecting something to happen on JH x DS loveline but nothing happened. i wanted to shake JH for not offering to piggyback her. instead, he was nagging her lol! but did you notice DS did not seem to mind the nagging? it seems it did not natter to DS if nothing sweet happened. 

i remember a post asking where DS was when the neighborhood freaked out about the plane crash. actually, she went out right after dinner to see ji hyun. i think the pd did not include her on this scene to avoid confirming how important taek is to DS. i imagine she would be freaking out as much as taek's dad was. 

i remember in R94, a shopping center where CB was supposed to be had collapsed. najung worried so much about him that when she saw CB she was crying her heart out while embracing him.

Since I've already said something about bo young before, allow me to give that a pass.

Anyway, in this first scene, I really find it strange that someone who actually faked an ankle sprain to get some skinship would maintain her distance with the guy.  However, in this scene, we see DS keeping her body away from JH instead of just allowing herself to lean towards him, resulting in them walking in such an awkward manner.

This body language of hers proves one thing: even when she was consciously pursuing JH, her subconscious gestures were saying a different story altogether.

Taek really is the neighborhood treasure. As soon as they hear about the plane crash EVERYONE goes rushing to his house for news! Even BR, who normally has nothing to do with anyone else in the neighborhood [SW excluded] goes rushing over to TK's house after seeing the news.

See the contrast between Taek's dad and JH's dad. Taek's dad fixed the Video player while JH's dad can't even fix a simple cord. I'm saying it's simple coz I personally can fix it. 

It's like Taek and JH. Taek is more capable in showing his love for DS while JH who had a lot of opportunity to tell DS his feelings hesitated in all of them.

the way DS appa was talking about his ginseng wine, you'd think that there was actually a big bunch of ginseng in it.  Now, I understand JH appa an omma's surprise when they finally saw the actual jar!kkk

Taek's dad erupted in front of his future family. Of all people who can see his sidden outburst it's a good thing it happened when he was in SW's home. I think this was needed in the series for SW to see this side of Taek's dad for him to see how loving he is, how intense he can be when it comes to people that he loves. I think after this episode SW saw him in a different light and become more accepting.

Poor Taek. He gives his trophy to DS and she doesn't even realize what it is until NE shows her the picture in the newspaper. Even then, she still didn't understand his symbolism. Lol!

Side note: Who was the narrator? Was that Bora or adult DS? I'm having a hard time figuring it out for sure. ><

Just realized how significant the Fujitsu trophy is to Taek. As JH said earlier the Fujitsu Cup is a contest where Taek won 2nd place twice. So it can be his first time to win this cup. At the same time winning this cup would give him a Grand Slam. I only now realized why Taek was so anxious in winning this competition. And it was so endearing to have the two most important friends (DS and SW) assure him that it's okay to lose

I just realize how easily the girls can get away with anything in a relationship.  BR actually denied her relationship with SW in front of her friends, but all it took was a kiss and SW was all smiles again.

Compare that to R97's scene when Hak Chan denied his relationship with Yoo Jung to his mother.  It actually took them longer to make up!kkk

If you zoom the one HR wore it was actually the same pattern. It just accentuated a certain part on the front of HR's because of the angle & lighting, plus BG's pic was from closer view while HR's one was a video capture thus the view wasnt as clear. But if you zoom and look closely the knitted pattern are the same on both.

There wasn't that much Suntaek moments to discuss in this episode, but what the episode lacked in the OTP's loveline development, it certainly made up for with deep character development.  Apart from the obvious revelation of CT appa's character, other characters were also given the chance to present the different levels of their personality here, to wit:

JH omma - we constantly see her nagging at her husband, or basically just being irritated with her husband's weird antics.  However, in this episode, we see that despite all that, she still turns to her husband for support, regardless if her husband is actually capable of providing it or not!kkk

DS appa - in this episode, DS appa was also given the chance to show his inner strength.  He stood by his wife in such trying times, and became her rock, despite feeling just as scared as she was.

Other relationships were also highlighted, such as SW/BR and that of the parents. This makes this episode a pivotal point in the story, not to mention a great source material for the different dynamics of family relationship in this series.

Annyeong! I finally had the time to re-watch the episode and I hope you could bear with me as I share my observations.

At the beginning of the episode, when DS was talking to her middle school friend, I noticed that she kept on looking at JH. In support of what others have already shared, it’s as if she was fishing for some jealous(?) reaction from JH or making sure he is listening, to test if he really likes her.

Friend: Hey, why did you get so pretty?

DS: Huh? (*looks at JH) Hey… that’s not true! What are you saying?

Friend: Your phone number’s still the same, right? Is it okay if I call you?

DS: (*looks at JH first then nods at her friend)

She later brags to JH that the guy liked her. Then, we get to see JH tsundere mode:ON.

Some scenes that I liked

DS told her father that she knows TK better; hence, there was no need for him to remind her not to disturb/go near TK

 

JH appa caught cheating while playing Baduk with DS appa lol “There is no cheating in the game of Baduk. Don’t you feel sorry for/ ashamed of Taek? Baduk is a game that is to be played with utmost fairness”

Joey wang saying the Miok/Manok’s dad looks scary and might be a thug lol, when in fact he looks like a cuddly bear who runs a legitimate business XD I think this is one of the red flags why DS shouldn’t listen to her friends esp. when it comes to matters of the heart.

Since I’ve read a lot of parallelisms from you guys, I looked for all the parallelisms I could see in this episode between the adult couples and DS-TK (different episodes) *I'll try to add the parallel suntaek scenes later

-SW omma’s hesitance about being romantically involved with TK appa

-BR pinching SW when he was being fussy  

-DS appa bringing goldfish bread for DS omma

-Miran hitting JB appa after what he did to the iron chord XD

Questions I hope you could help me answer J

-Why JB removed TK and BR as the recipients of his “7 years of good luck” chain letters

-I wonder if it’s just a case of mistranslation (I listened again and again as he pronounce the name and it seems accurate), because on the preview, it shows that DR asked DS “Who do you like better, Jungpal or Taek.” And we all know during ep 14 that DR didn’t ask that question because the options were SW vs JH and DR vs TK. Who could have DS answered if it was JH vs TK?

Lastly, since the title of the episode is “Superman returns/is back,” aside from the fathers, for me Superman may also refer to Taek. TK was busy preparing for a match and by the end of the episode, he returned triumphant. He even managed to bypass a plane accident XD

Because they have more important things to do,  he didn't want to bother them with writing letters ^^ Remember JB sent post cards introducing Taek and Bora as neighborhood treasures in order to win gift from radio broadcast

I think it's a case of the actual scene being different from the preview as a hint to viewers that it's important. They do this with the dream kiss too. 

In another show, the previews could be completely different from what actually happened in the show [main lead runs up the stairs in the actual ep instead of down like in the preview, etc]. For viewers who were paying attention it's hints to decipher about the undercurrents of a scene. In the case of this preview I think it was a hint to viewers that the important part wasn't about SW vs JH or DR vs TK. The real question was JH vs TK and DS answered accordingly.
