But either way, JH is the true manhwa lover here, IMO TK only reads it when he wants to do something else other than baduk.

Hi, I actually re watching ep 16 and the book on taek bed is not a comic...its looks like comic but not. Like documented book with big picture in it.....and the pics are real human tho,look like photo..comic doesn't have big pic like that.

Hello my dear fellow shipmates, I woke up about an hour ago for the day and wow look at all the pages we've amassed!! haha I'm so happy all of you are here and we get to share our insights, vent, and vehemently pour out our love for the show and the characters. 

Last night in bed I was thinking, Omg, this is it. Finale week. Just four more hours with the Ssangmundong family. I am so invested in them and their world, feels like I have been living with them. A little personal disclosure here: I had been going through a really tough personal time last year. Last semester, I withdrew from my graduate program when I realized it was not what I wanted to do and my stress and anxiety were getting unbearable. Like Deoksun, I didn't have a dream, and that frightened me. Where do I go from here? 

Then I found this show, and it was love at first sight. So much heart, so much warmth, so true to life it hurt something bad sometimes. I felt inspired again thanks to AM1988. Because of AM1988 and my love for Deoksun and Junghwan and their family and friends, I actually started doing the creative, "fun side stuff" that I hadn't done in a really long time, like making gifs, writing drama analyses instead of research papers for school, drafting fan fiction, and researching songs that will fit our beloved characters to make videos. A side of me that I had neglected, and one I had feared I was losing as I slipped deeper into my anxiety. Oh, how glad and thankful I was to find it still existed inside of me. 

Eight years ago, I was 18 years-old. The nostalgia built into this show grabbed me by my heart and breathed hope into me again. But watching this show by myself, without anyone to share that love with would not have been a complete experience. It's been a few years since I was last active in a forum, and for a month before I joined Soompi I lurked in this thread, delighting in your guys' comments, thinking "Yes!! Those are my feelings exactly!!" and "Wow!! I hadn't thought of it that way, really insightful!" Finally I couldn't keep quiet anymore and took the jump to make an account. 

That was one of the best decisions I've made. You are all so wonderful. Here we offer support and positive vibes. When things in the show are frustrating, we vent in unison and post funny gifs or pictures that capture our sentiments and make us laugh. We come together to celebrate and swoon in delight over the heart fluttering moments. Then when we should be sleeping or doing chores, we spend our time here because we don't want to miss anything. 

Before this show ends, I just want to say this has been my best drama experience ever. Both thanks to Lee WooJung-nim and Shin WonHo-nim for creating a show that captured me and recalled my idealism, and thanks to all of you here who brought my enjoyment of the show to greater heights and accompanied me as we laughed, cried, and fell in love with our dear Ssangmundong family. This has been a healing journey for me, even through the hair-pulling exasperating moments in the show because what a joy it is to love something so fiercely and with such fire! 

Though my last dream (to complete my program and work in that field) did not pan out, but - and I quote the OST song Don't You Worry - "I dreamed with no regrets, and I'll dream new dreams." I hope the same for you. <3

Thank you for reading. I'm slightly embarrassed to say all the above, but I am learning that it is okay to be vulnerable. Plus, as we learned with Junghwan, what's the point of keeping one's love all bottled up inside?

I think the MT has turned into another TK/DS shipper thread... ha ha ha!

What is really wonderful about R1988 is that each scene can really be interpreted two different ways. Both interpretations are plausible, totally. Really so interesting how they managed to create a whole base for both to be possible, still at episode 18!

@boranoona As much as I liked teh guys of R1994, I thought that song was a bit ridic... ha ha ha! Don't hit me! I listened to it a lot then but I also felt bad - not great and they were already so tired and doing tons of things...

Hello there everyone. So I've been lurking in Dc gallery and I found some of these posts there that I wanna share with guys here. These posts of why JH is the husband really helps me smile and forget about the pain I've been going through from yesterday (oops I mean 2 days ago) even though only for a few moments. So here they are :

1) When you search on Naver for the characters, for the previous intallments, the husband is beside the female lead(yea I know Sungappa and eomma are in between NJ and Trash, but if you exclude them then yea). What about reply 1988? Who's beside DS??? I know this is a weak arguement but lets just say I wanna keep my hopes up and want to stay positve 

2) The OST CDs. Yes, the main OTP of the previous intstallments both had their individual photos (?) as the cover (?) of the CDs. Reply1988's 2nd CD just released and guess who's on the cover?????

3) The cat and Dog picture in the future/present scene. There's no way, I repeat NOWAY THE PIC WAS PUT THERE WITHOUT A CAUSE. We all know how the PD LOVES to put props as hints.WHY THE HECK WOULD THE PD PUT THAT PAINTING THERE IF IT WAS NOT REFERING TO SOMETHING?????? (you guys remember the meowing scene of DS and JH in episode 4 right????)

I also did some research about feathers meaning etc ( I have no life hahah im so bored right now what did reply do to me ?? )

please note that i dont believe in these things nor do i think they are true but since this is a drama i think they may be true in this aspect anyway.

Here is what i found:

1st the feather  has importance in forrest gump and  it went by JH window....why did they put it there??? Defiantly not because its "nice" to put it there lol. probably just that scene also took time to edit/film/make

now the feather was white so it can mean: purification, spirituality, hope, trust, faith, protection, peace, Heaven, angels, and also act as blessings and wisdom connected with moon.  (source:here)

It symbolizes luck or destiny. It's floating in the air until it lands on you (in our case it passed JH window and maybe it landed near his house) , meaning that destiny has chosen you for something.

I watch some YT videos (again) and you know, at the beginning of every videos, there's an advertisement about a chocolate bar. 

The advertisement showed us, a hand out a chocolate bar on the top of a blue coloured bag, with a white belt. 

I watched the videos and realized it's JH's bag. Could it be a clue for us?

Actually i alrdy saw him in many news about "Glory Day" movie (cast along suho, ji soo and kim hee chan) but i never fully have my attention to him. And now i really waiting for that movie to come out just to see RJY!!

Yaaaaah,...we have the same situation,chingu ya...all my friends here most of them are #TeamTK. I felt so lonely no one here in reality could join me spazzing about Ryu Jun Yeol Junghwan And then i found family here..

I found this forum very early, i guess when it was still around ep.3 or 4, when DS still liked SW. My bet already 50-50 between SW and JH. Until in ep.6, SW already loved BR. I found out all the clues before, of SW loves BR, thanks to the MT. And then i started to solely believed that JH was the end game. Gave me so much confident after SW out in ep.6 And i decided to put my trust to the Shin PD and Lee chaka, just like what i believed in R1994 that Oppaya was Najung's choice. 

Anyway, shout out to our fellow Indonesians here @hailaft GOD, I LOVE YOUR fanfic !!!! I'm your faaaan...Hugs n Kisses for you,dear!!   @GD-ssi  @arumdaun @joannadeline @lala14 @dinhie I love you,chingudeul!!! So great to find all of u here...Let's sail this ship together til the end!!

Besides the actor who plays NL, is there another one who did musicals or sthg similar?

Older DS clearly said that she never think or imagine she would marry the guy who's her husband now. As far as I know, Taek has been well known being 'potential husband' for DS that the parents kinda kidding or match-making them with each other since they were still kids (the Sung parents keep claiming Taek as their son in law, and DS take it also literally and keep telling Taek to grow up so she can marry her). 

As long as there's a reason for doubt, don't lose hope on JH being end game guys (also the same for TK shippers). I said before that these 2 episodes would be full of Tk/DS moments to give everyone a reason for doubts (apply to both ships), now I'm looking forward to the remaining 2 episodes.

Rewatching again.. I miss the gang, seriously. We see them drinking out and getting drunk, driving, working,-- yet before, all they do is eat ramen and dance to songs on tv. They grew up well, each and everyone of them!

I love how Jungpal, I mean Junghwan finally got his coming-of-age arc through the a very cliche and super-used plot device, the classic 'goodbye to a first love'. Even if there are tons of movies, series, dramas, songs, and all about this-- Reply 1988 made it iconic and definitely heartbreaking! I always thought his coming-of-age will root from his love for his hyung, Jungbong, which we saw in ep17.

But Reply 1988 wanted to break our hearts.

We asked for this.. we needed the angst, and they gave it 100-fold.
It was soooooo good. And definitely memorable!

He didn't bawl out crying, or slammed things inside his Jeep-- he sat there and thought about what happened. He thought about what he did wrong, what he didn't do, and how fate and timing were things that lacked on his side.

His first Timing narration was raw, spur-of-the-moment kind of feeling, due to the rush and the frustrations he felt during the past 6 or more years came back during his run for the concert. It was what he felt at that moment.

He was angry at the red lights, he was angry at Fate, at Timing, and he was angry at himself.

But he didn't whine too much.

He continued to think about what happened.. the rain was pouring, and he is still inside his car.

He didn't cry.

He continued to think, and think, and think-- and on his own, as he said in his second 'Timing' narration, he realized that he needed to be the one to create his fate and timing. That these existential things mean nothing and will continue to be nothing until he does something about it. 

He didn't cross the line, this line that Deoksun was trying to cross when she realized the potential of Junghwan liking her back.
But, he needed to be the one to cross it, in order to reach a new level of relationship towards the other person.
To meet her half-way.

But he didn't.

He could've kissed her.

He could've admitted his feelings before Christmas, during and after Christmas, during the umbrella scenes, during the bus scenes, when he learned about the blind date, when they went to MBC Zam, when they were together in bed, when they went to the concert, when he held her hand, when he waited for her day or night outside their front gate, when they were alone--

He realized that life, fate, and timing gave him so many chances yet he was the one who didn't take advantage of it.

And hence, the impromptu and heartbreaking confession.
That was the only time he ever crossed /the line/.
And probably, he wanted it to be the last time too.

That confession was what he needed.
The closure to his silly first love, which grew and grew to become 'the love' he has been cherishing for years.

Who knows right?
He got another chance to rethink about his situation.. and when he thought about it more, he got the right realizations (his two very very similar narrations).

So.. isn't a second confession, or a second chance for love, possible too?

Bo Gum can play piano and sing actually. There's some video of him covering song/ playing piano online. As of the others, I don't know. But, I remember that @EMM! mentioned in her twitter acc that RJY's acted as a guitarist in a movie released this year (it's not a major role tho). So, maybe that says he can play the guitar in real life too? Lol Idk
