After watching episode 4 JY's father mistress really set him up so she can get his money in which he's so dumb and should've been faithful to his wife. I can see flaws (evil) coming out of HJ already and just wait until she finds out about JY's death. That brat is going to blame DB, but needs to come to terms and realize that JY wasn't into her like that, even though there's no subs to understand what is being said. I just go by body movements as well as expressions on their faces. @krgirl87  I agree, the color of CJW dress and SJS suit match perfectly making them look nice as a couple in this drama and I can't wait to see their interacting together. I'm hoping this drama get subbed, I have SBS channel but don't know how long it'll be before they sub it.

어린 시절 부모가 운영하던 중국집에서 혼자 요리연습을 하다가 실수로 쏟은 기름에 옮겨붙은 가스불이 큰불로 번졌고, 어린 단별은 불속에서 구출되었지만 부모는 끝내 불속을 헤쳐 나오지 못하고 식당과 함께 이 세상을 떠나고 말았다.

 

그때 엄마의 친구였던 호덕이 화재소식을 듣고 집을 찾아왔다가 오갈 데 없이 남겨진 친구의 외동딸인 단별을 죽은 친구에 대한 우정 반, 아이에 대한 측은지심 반으로 거두어주었다. 어린 나이였지만 단별은 은혜를 갚는 심정으로 자신이 할 수 있는 일을 찾아 그 나이부터 설거지통에 손을 담구었다. 뿐만 아니라 시키기도 전에 집안일이며 온 식구들의 귀찮고 잡다한 심부름까지 기꺼이 도맡아 하면서도 늘 웃는 얼굴로 지낸지 어언 13년... 불행한 과거는 다 잊고 살려고 발버둥치고 있다지만... 화재 사건 이후 어렴풋이 의식을 찾았을 때 옆에서 두런거리던 동네 사람들의 말은 언제나 가시처럼 그녀의 심장 한가운데 박혀있다. 부모 잡아먹은 자식이라는 말...

그 대신 채워지지 않는 허기의 그 자리를 성공에 대한 야망으로  채워넣은 그는 그래서 누구보다 열심히 시간 낭비하지 않고 지금까지 달려왔다. 공부면 공부 운동이면 운동, 일이면 일, 자신의 손에 떨어진 일은 사소한 일이라도 목숨을 걸었나 싶을 정도로 책임감이 강한 성격... 흔히 말하는 빽없이 그 누구의 지원없이 오롯이 혼자의 힘으로 여기까지 왔건만 그는 아직 멀었다고 생각하고 흐트러짐 없이 스스로를 담금질한다.

가난하기는 하지만 머리 하나는 뛰어나게 좋고 영특하던 그는 명문대를 졸업했고 기업체 오너의 딸인 아내와 결혼을 하고 장인의 사업을 물려받았다. 사업적 능력이 뛰어난데다 부지런하고 성실하기까지 하여 결혼하자마자 건강이 좋지 않았던 장인으로부터 물려받은 식품회사를 몇 개의 브랜드를 가진 식품과 외식업체로 키워낸 기업가다. 

 

사실 아내는 결혼 전 사귀던 남자가 있었고 부친의 강요로 자신과 결혼을 했다는 것은 그도 알고 있었다. 그래도 성실한 그는 장인을 위해 아내를 위해 성실하고 좋은 남편이고자 최선을 다했다. 무엇보다 아내를 사랑했기에... 그러나 23년 전 아내는 교통사고를 당했고 옛 남자와 동승한 차라는 것을 병원 응급실에서 알게 된 그는 하늘이 두 번 무너지는 고통을 겪어야 했다. 마지막 순간까지 서로의 손을 꼭 붙잡고 있던 아내와 남자... 자신이 행복을 꿈꾸는 모든 순간, 아내의 마음 속에는 다른 남자가 머물고 있었다.

늘 전자계산기와 수첩을 옆에 끼고 다니는 상가건물 주인이며 헬스클럽 트레이너.

 

남자답게 생긴 얼굴도 얼굴이지만 운동으로 다져진 근육질 몸매가 일품. 무능한 부모 덕에 찢어지게 가난한 환경에서 자랐고, 그 때문인지 공부는 일찌감치 포기하고 뒷골목을 전전하며 몸 쓰는 일을 하며 성장했다. 맥주집 사장의 보디가드 일하던 시절 번 돈을 굴리고 굴려 지금은 동네지만 어엿한 상가 3층 건물의 주인이 됐다. 말은 쉽지만 비빌 언덕 하나없이 이만큼 오기까지 그가 얼마나 고생에 고생을 거듭했는지 짐작이 가고도 남을 터... 때문에 알뜰하고 검소하기가 자린고비가 울고 갈 지경이며, 짠돌 정신이 서해안 천일염이 형님하며 무릎 꿇을 정도로 절약정신이 투철하다.

 

18살 연상의 형인 금용이 잊을 만하면 찾아와 손을 벌리지만 형제간에도 그의 경제철학은 얄짤없음으로 일관해 돈이든 주먹이든 되로 받고 말로 갚는다는 원칙에 의거에 이자를 악착같이 받아낸다. 하는 일마다 꼬이며 돈만 날리던 형이 최근에 노총각 생활을 정리하고 형수의 돈으로 자신의 집에 살게 되었다. 일층에 형네 가게로 세를 주고, 이층에 형네 부부와 같이 살고, 물론 월세를 꼬박꼬박 받고 있으며, 삼층을 호덕네 세 여자에게 세를 주게 되면서 그녀들과 인연이 이어진다.

Wow ...that preview! Is this how JY dies? If so, then it means that his father's mistress is responsible for his death. The useless father has ruined his family and keeps being stubborn insisting on a divorce sh. It's sad to see JY and his mother cut ties and DB being held responsible for everything that is happening. I think JY's mom thinks she is bad luck and has caused all the turmoil in the family. She will regret the harsh words she uttered to her son and it will be too late to make amends for it. 

Finally JY's sister SS shows up with her son...I wonder what caused her to divorce her husband. She has no idea what is going on in the family and will be shocked at the recent developments. I think she will be a fun character to watch.

I agree JY sister Se Sil will be fun to watch with her attitude, which it totally reminds me that she also played in Family Secrets and liked her in that drama as well, so I'm ready to see some action from her lol. JY father mistress is the blame for his death and I hope JY mother HD finds out what really happened and teach that heffa a lesson about seducing any married man. I can't wait to see the next episode that has me looking for more.

All I can say is that's one brave heffa to show up at JY's funeral knowing good and well she know what really happen regarding his death. Even though she didn't kill JY, she knew who did and why. I can't wait for subs and hope it be soon in which I would like to know what JY'S father had his wife to sign WHAT divorce papers I was thinking and something else but as this drama continues, that Mistress is going to drain him for every penny he has and will be with another man after that. Well it looks like the Mistress daughter is in town and might be paired with Danny Ann in this drama. I'm liking this one so far as to where I cut back from watching the other's daily dramas just to see how this drama goes, and like I said before I love CJW and to me she's doing ok as of now with just 7 episodes in. It's not a lot of posts/comments here but that's ok I can watching and post all by myself lol,  in which I also know some of us has other dramas to watch as well as recapping etc plus this is the Holiday Week. I'm so ready to see the next episode.

@suchadiva42 It's definitely quieter here around the holidays. I've been reading along from the start, but it took me a while to start watching and catch up. I'm still feeling bruised from this drama's predecessor and wary of starting on another crazy ride. That 6 minute preview that was released before the show started airing was very detailed, and I was reluctant to begin watching because I knew what kind of heartbreak to expect in the early episodes. 

Do you think that there are chances of subtitles any time soon? You're so lucky to be able to get the SBS TV channel. The two SBS dailies I followed this year never got subtitled (at least not online). I've already seen C-subs for episodes 1-5 of this drama, and though I can't read Chinese (I can pick out a word here and there and google-translate lines in a pinch), this is giving me some hope. I didn't see any C-subs for the two most recent SBS dailies, "My MIL" and "Hwang Geum Bok." 

I think that the additional papers HD's husband stamped were the division of assets agreement  and a memo stating that HD won't contest that in the future. I think he said that he did it conscientiously, so they have nothing to worry about. If HD had been in her right mind, she probably wouldn't have let him stamp anything without reading carefully or consulting a lawyer.   Poor HD. I think you're right about the mistress. She's is most definitely not after NS's brains, looks or personality, LOL.  He is a idiot and a coward, and I think we can expect that he will end up screwing over HD under MR's guidance.

I think that Danny Ahn character's love interest will be Cecil, while MR's daughter will end up tangling up with SG's brother-in-law. I'm really hoping though that HD and SG will find love together. (They used to know each other as kids.) I guess it's pretty obvious already that SG's mother-in-law is going to be a nightmare for him. She obviously doesn't want the poor guy to remarry, and they have different ideas about HJ's marriage too. In this last episode she gave him that stern lecture for just saying that he'd be ok with GH as JH's spouse if the two kids ended up liking each other. The m-i-l thinks that marrying HJ to an orphan is out of the question regardless of how outstanding he is.

@ina111   Thanks chingu for the brief details of this drama and yes this is the Holiday month, so I'm hoping some will watch this drama and that it'll pick up. I've been checking my SBS channel to see if and when this drama will air and will indeed let you know. When I saw the stills of the characters together in each window, I did see Danny Ahn with Cecil and her child, but I said to myself isn't she too old for Danny (I guess not) And as for JY father Nam Soo, his mistress MR sure isn't looking at his looks but money straight thru her eyes as this drama continues lol.

@suchadiva42 You bring up a great point about age. In that sense what I said about SG's brother in law and MR's daughter pairing seems really unlikely because there is an 18 year difference between the actors. (Not sure how old the characters are supposed to be.) What you said about the b-i-l and Cecil makes a lot more sense. I wouldn't mind it if both the drama PD and the landlord developed a romantic interest in Cecil. That seems like it would be a fun love triangle.

DB was already having a hard time financially, and now she has to compensate GH for the broken watch. (The amount she mentions in the preview is 8 mil Won, which is about $7k.) Eun Yong's older brother comes to town. HD is upset because their house was put up for auction, I think.

DB mistakes GH for a thief and beats him with her shoe. 

 

HD is having a bad day at work. First she sees DB brushing off GH's coat and thinks that DB has found herself a new man. Then she comes face to face with MR and her equally ill-mannered spawn.

 

Cecil auditions for a TV drama. The drama PD is not impressed.  

 

Cecil gets drunk after her failed audition, then comes by DB's place to pick up Leo. She runs into Eun Yong, the building's new owner.

 

DB runs into HD while escorting Cecil and Leo home. Both DB and HD are sad and upset after the encounter.
