Former Chairman Seo Young-pil of 'Missha Shinhwa' returns to the handbag business

Seo Young-pil, founder of Able CNC, who opened the era of cosmetics road shops with 'Missha', returned to the handbag business. It has been four years since the sale of Able C&C to a private equity fund in 2017.

Actress Seo Ji-hye is employed as a model, and the company currently has a total of six product line-ups, including Petrimo, Rouge, Sakdvi, Confiance, Le Kavas T, and Le Kavas W.

In April 2017, CEO Seo sold a 25.53% stake in Able CNC to MM Private Equity, a private equity fund, for about 188.2 billion won, transferring his largest shareholder status and management rights. After that, it was confirmed that he was appointed as an inside director of Absolute Value in May of that year, a month after the sale. Considering that CEO Seo disposed of his remaining stake in Able CNC and completely removed his hand from Able CNC in January 2019, it means that he has prepared for his next work for a considerable period of time ahead of time.

CEO Seo bought a site (447.06㎡, 135 pyeong) in Gugi-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul in 2018 under his own name, built a five-story office building last year, and laid the groundwork for a new business. In May of last year, he took office as the CEO of Absolute Value. Absolute Value has not yet made any significant profits, but its capital, which was only 500 million won in 2018, was six times higher to 3 billion won the following year. This year, the number of employees increased to 10 and the official shopping mall was opened at the end of August, accelerating business activities.

This is not the first time CEO Seo has been interested in the bag business. Able CNC added the bag business to the articles of association at the 2006 shareholders' meeting and entered the fashion accessory market with the brand 'Eltree'.

As CEO Seo, he is re-challenging into the handbag business with 'Significe'. In the past, when raising the 'Missha' brand, he used a strategy to identify consumer tendencies through online and then switch to offline. It is expected that the same steps will be taken by Sinifi, who has just started to walk.

On the other hand, CEO Seo started as a researcher for household products in Pigeon and established a road shop myth with the concept of '3,300 won cosmetics' in the 2000s. In the cosmetics market centered on large corporations such as Amorepacific and LG Household & Health Care, Missha has been growing rapidly and ranked first as the number one road shop brand.
