Wooyoung (From 2PM) Has Released His Solo Single! What Are the "5 Elements" that Configure Him!?

Wooyoung of the hugely popular 6 member group within Asia, 2PM, has

released his solo single "R.O.S.E" in Japan which has been long-awaited

by fans!

This interview is furthermore a commemoration for his current showcase

tour and has been published in the April issue of AneCan which goes on

sale today.

Woman Insight has stories that couldn't be published in the pages of

AneCan, offshots & specially introduces behind episodes with a short

intensive serialization♪

In the first episode we approach the current Wooyoung himself!

Woman Insight Editor (hereafter, WI): it can be said about you,

Wooyoung, that out of the individual characters gathered together in

2PM, you can be called the "devilish" one out of the members. That charm

you have which makes you attainable yet not attainable is what seems to

make captives out of the fans.......

Wooyoung (hereafter, WY): There has never yet been someone who could capture me.

WI: That's what makes it so that one must capture you by whatever means

necessary (laugh). Then, for the record what are the "5 elements that

configure Wooyoung"?

WY: ...... (pondering a bit).

WI: That must be a little tough...... 3 elements is fine as well.

WY: It's an interesting question. I like questions that force me to

think like this (sweet smile). (slowly checking his words) Family,

friends, opposite sex, work, and what engrosses me (not in relation to

work).

WI: Just what exactly has Wooyoung engrossed at this time......?

WY: Keeping the balance for the "5 elements" that were just said. For

example, if I put importance on my family, my feelings of "I must do

something in order to make my parents happy" would take precedence. I

think my greed would mysteriously become stronger with the result of "I

must succeed for that purpose." If I'm partial to one side like that

then I will one day become overly tired, so I think distributing it up

as 5 things is a good method, and keeping that balance is what I'm

currently engrossed in.

WI: I think the fans would be particularly interested in the keyword "opposite sex" right......!?

WY: The opposite sex means women. Though that doesn't mean I have one in

real life of course (laugh). The hairstyle I like on girls changes from

time to time, and even I think "What kind of girl is my type?" I've

been trying to read books and write down thought up words in order to

find the answer....... Is it this type? Do I like this style? I record

those kinds of things, and there have been cases when I tie them in with

lyrics. I enjoy searching for my ideal type and thinking "Ah, that

person is lovely" while watching a movie.

WI: The "Rose Girl" that appears in the lyrics for your just-released

solo single "R.O.S.E" must also have been created from your daily input

like that.

WY: I think about my ideal type, take a break sometimes, do work, pass

the time with family and friends....... As those things repeat, without

being partial to one thing every day, I carry interest in a lot of

things.

The virtue of his multi-faceted balance is exactly what makes Wooyoung so attractive.

As he is the number 1 all-rounder in the group, he is also the all-rounder in his way of living!

2PM Wooyoung, "I'm Confident I Can't Be Swayed by a Woman"

2PM Wooyoung, whose dance is thorough all the way to the tips of his

fingers and who uses his sweet singing voice with just a touch of pride

to enchant others, will release his solo single "R.O.S.E" on March 4th.

"Roses are such a beautiful flower, but why do they have thorns? That

sort of question is what gave start to the song. That was just one of

many things which I found intriguing."

Including the groovy and catchy "R.O.S.E," all of the single's recorded

songs and lyrics were written by him, and when asked what kind of woman

is the image of a "rose," he answered:

"Someone who protects herself by donning thorns in order to not get

hurt. Furthermore, she's able to hurt her partner with those same

thorns. My chest grew tight when I wrote the lyrics for the single with

the image of such a weak and sad woman. Women who wear a cool facade but

are different on the inside also suit the image of 'rose.'"

Coincidentally, are you attracted to women with a "rose" image?

"No (laugh). However, it's also a song that depicts a man who

understands such a woman and has the confidence to not be swayed. Like

me (laugh). The man that appears in all the songs recorded on this

single are projections of myself."

To which he showed us a bit of a mischievous smile. You can witness such

a face as well as various other Wooyoung faces at his solo nationwide

tour of 9 concerts which has already commenced.

"I think the performances will be different from those of 2PM. What I

really want to do is sing my heart out and dance. It would be nice if

the people who come to watch me live laugh and cry for me. I would be

happy if the members come to the venue, but they're all respectively

busy [so it's alright if they don't come]. I don't think it will make me

lonely if they don't come. Because their feelings of support already

reach through to me."

He spoke of working vigorously toward his solo promotions while feeling

the strong trust of the members who are separated from him. Lastly, we

asked if he was going to have a magical and sexy performance and display

the muscles he had trained well for 2PM concerts, to which he said:

" Yes, I am. For about 10 seconds (laugh)."

With a smile full of playfulness, his confidence could be felt.

Getting Closer to the Current Wooyoung!

- What are you obsessed with right now?

Myself (laugh). Not that I love myself, though.

- Where do you want to go most?

The sun. Its existence is really mysterious and it interests me.

- What is something you're secretly planning?

There's a keyboard I use for practice during my stay in Japan and I want

another one. I'm going to buy one tomorrow! It's a secret (laugh).

- Why do you think people love?

Ahh...... that's a tough question. I really want to know, too. When it

comes to love, there is love with a special person who becomes your

partner, but I also think love exists for family and work. I think those

two things are different kinds of love, and I think the reason to keep

living would die out without either kind of love. Since there are two

types of love I believe it makes life more enjoyable.

WOOYOUNG Song Commentary......

"R.O.S.E"

R is the greenhouse that protects the flower. O is the flower. S is the

stem. E is the flowerpot. The letters represent the flower itself.

"R.O.S.E" isn't just the singular word "ROSE" by taking out the dots, I

thought it could more accurately express what is on my mind.

Furthermore, I wanted to make music that I like, which is simple and

funky, and also groovy. I made use of instruments as the focal point,

and made it as simple as I could. I finished it by immersing myself as

much as possible in the lyrics and music through real sessions. Also, I

believe you will be able to feel the non-stereotyped "freedom" of the

dance, expression, and style of singing.

"COCKTAIL"

It's expressing the atmosphere of drinking a cocktail together with the

person you love at the end of an exhausting day as you heal one

another's fatigue. The lyrics contain very straight-forward feelings

such as, "You are something of a cocktail, it's like you're together

with me when I'm drinking a cocktail," where it feels like your mood has

become somewhat better being with the person you love even though

you're exhausted, and it's expressing the feeling of becoming faintly

passionate enough that the fatigue starts to fly away.

"Happy Birthday"

Out of the 4 songs I recorded for my solo single this time, this song is the first one that I finished.

I remember writing it all in one go for about 3 hours thinking "I must

do this before I forget!" when ideas for the song came to mind one after

another.

Truthfully, the words I hear the most at high touch events and from the

fans at events where we directly interact is "Today is my birthday," but

I would always feel sad since the only thing I could say in those short

moments was "Happy birthday." Therefore, when there was talk about solo

promotions this time, the first thing I thought was, "I want to make

this solo single a present to all the fans!" Since I wrote this song as a

Happy Birthday from solely me to the fans, I think my chest will burn

hotter than possibly ever before when I perform it in front of the fans.

"I know your shirts"

It's not that you haven't clearly broken up, but you realize your

girlfriend's feelings for you have already grown cold when she's wearing

another man's shirt. This is a very sad song that is expressing the

feelings of seeing such a girlfriend and having no choice but to accept

that you've broken up, but at the same time it's a tune that

incorporates sexiness as well.

The BEST 3 Who Influenced Wooyoung (From 2PM) To Be "Self Expressive"

Lead vocalist Wooyoung from popular K-POP group 2PM will debut as a

soloist on March 4th with his single "R.O.S.E." Wooyoung, who has been

influenced by various people, told us the artists & actors he

respects who especially made him into the "self expressive" person he is

today.

1. Michael Jackson

I believe it would be the same for anyone who likes Michael, but the

moment I saw him I was knocked out, totally overwhelmed. The first time I

saw a video of Michael I think must have been when I was in elementary

school. I liked dancing ever since I was young and I often overheard my

parents talking about Michael; the time they were discussing "Who's

Michael?" was when he was going to soon have a Korean concert. When it

was broadcast on TV, I became obsessed seeing his moonwalk in "Billie

Jean." That song is my favorite.

2. Al Pacino

I've seen a lot of his movies, of course including the "The Godfather"

series and "Scent of a Woman." It's not just that his acting is

spectacular, his voice is great while he has a natural look. When I

watch his acting, he makes me think that when there's something I want

to express, I should devote everything I have in order to express it.

The conversational exchange between him and Robert De Niro in "Heat," as

well as the realistic gunshot, has been instilled as a recollection of

mine despite having seen it as a child.

3. Jamie Bell

The character he played in the movie "Billy Elliot" had a strong impact

on me. The 3 people I brought up here have common qualities of being

earnest and compelling. It was especially Jamie's dancing that made me

think "What can I make out of this?" when there were times when I tried

facing my feelings but felt like something was going to burst from

within. I watched it just about everyday during the time before I

auditioned for JYP Entertainment. If I hadn't seen this film, I might

not have passed the audition.
