Though there are more images on Naver now, I just can get a few of them since the internet connection in my region is so slow due to the broken of Vietnam - Hong Kong route of AAG (America Asia Gateway) system lines, and that point is about 300 kilometers from southern Vietnam coast. It has been repairing for now; however, the internet still hasn't returned to normal yet.
Here are characters' posters:

Lee Il-hwa, method to acting in various dramas?
photo388135.jpg
The press conference for the KBS 1TV drama "Jeong Do Jeon" was held on Jan 2nd in Seoul.
Lee Il-hwa recently starred in the tvN drama "Answer Me 1994" as Na-jeong's (Go Ah-ra) mother Lee Il-hwa and is starring in the current SBS drama "You Came From The Stars". She is Semi's (Yoo In-Na) mother and is starring "Jeong Do-jeon" at the same time.
"I have a hard time staying at home with no work. When I'm out there working, I even surprise myself. I think then, I do this because I want to give my children a good life. I want to be a role model to them".
Meanwhile, "Jeong Do-jeon" is about the conflict of those who want to build Chosun (Joseon) and those who want to protect the Goryeo based in the turbulent times when the Goryeo was chaning to the Joseon. Politicians who considered justification more important than their lives tell their story.
Lee Il-hwa takes on the role of Kang, the second wife of Lee Seong Gye, and one who becomes Queen Sun-seok (?) in the far future. She is the political shield for Lee Seong-gye as well as a friend and when he becomes king, she quickly places her son as the prince.(She becomes Queen Shindeok of the Goksan Kang clan, and the her prince mentioned here might be Lee Bang Seok.)
"Jeong Do Jeon" will be aired in Jan 4th every Saturday and Sunday at 9:40pm. (It's tomorrow!!! >:D< )

KBS drama revisits life of kingdom's architect/Joseon's founding seen in unique angle
The founding of Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910) has been a popular theme in period TV dramas. KBS is starting another one this week, aiming to duplicate the resounding success of the 1996 “Tears of Dragon” that covered the same period.
After two years of prepration, “Jeong Do Jeon” will air on 9:40 p.m. on weekends starting today. It is the longest-running period piece from KBS this year with 60 episodes. The broadcaster is hoping to counter mounting criticisms against historical dramas that have come to rely too much on fiction rather than facts.
The drama is KBS' "response to critics call" for the restoration of authentic period pieces, which have become increasingly rare since the beginning of the new millennium. Viewers will be looking to see if the drama can simultaneously entertain and retain historical integrity, which had been a major factor in the adulation and ratings success of Tears of Dragon.
“We have been eager to produce this project for a long time,” Jang Seong Hwan, a KBS executive said during a press conference in Seoul, Thursday. “These days, schools don’t give due respect to history education and period dramas are more about fictionalized history. As a public broadcaster, we felt that we had a duty to create dramas that promote a proper awareness of history.”
The drama sets itself from others in the same genre by focusing on the life of a political titan rather than the lives of monarchs. Jeong’s ideas had a lasting impact on Joseon’s politics and laws. “The drama will deal with Jeong’s crucial role in the planning and founding of Joseon and the many obstacles he faced in the process,” said Kang Byung Taek, the director of the drama.
KBS has brought back some of the stars of Tears of Dragon to headline the new drama, including Yoo Dong Geun and Ahn Jae Mo. Film star Jo Jae Hyun makes his TV comeback as the main character of Jeong Do Jeon (1342-1398), one of the most powerful aristocrats and politicians of his time and a close supporter of King Taejo, the founder of Joseon.
“I’m very emotional about starring in my first period drama since 1995,” Jo said. “I don’t think a lot of people are aware of Jeong’s achievements. I hope to learn more about him with our viewers, because I believe he is someone we should know as Koreans. I am happy with the choice I made in joining this project.”
A political rivalry with Lee Bang Won, the fifth son of King Taejo, decided Jeong’s final destiny. Jeong and Lee collided, among other things, over the issue of choosing a successor to King Taejo. In 1398, Lee killed his two half-brothers including the crown prince as well as Jeong and his supporters in a coup that came to be known as the “First Strife of Princes.”  Lee Bang Won eventually became the third king of Joseon, king Taejong.

oooh.... thank you, @Mannschaft.....

Well first 2episodes were already aired... Now the challenge is to find them with subtitles. Viki still did not get the license... I hope/pray that KBS World would share it on YT...

"Jeong Do-jeon" first broadcast, Jo Jae-hyeon shines

photo389416.jpg

The first episode of "Jeong Do-jeon" was about the scholar named Jeong Do-jeon (Jo Jae-hyeon) from the era of King Gong-min. With Goryeo on the verge of becoming extinct, the drama showed the seriousness of the situation then with the death of the people who were building a tomb for the dead Princess Noguk and a feast hosted by King Gong-min.

Jo Jae-hyeon is starring in his first historical drama in about 20 years and has done a good job of creating an intense atmosphere with Park Yeong-gyu in the role of Lee In-im, a highly powerful figure.

Meanwhile, "Jeong Do-jeon" is a political historical drama that's been prepared by KBS for 2 years with a cast of Jo Jae-hyeon (Jeong Do-jeon), Yoo Dong-geun (Lee Seong-gye), Seo In-seok (Choi Yeong),Park Yeong-gyoo (Lee In-im), Im Ho (Jeong Mong-joo), Ahn Jae-mo (Lee Bang-won) and more.

Viki couldn't get license for the last KBS drama "The King's Dream" I'm not sure if there is high possiblity that Viki would be able to get one this time.KBS World might not share their shows with subtitles on Youtube but somehow those shows will be available on some online drama sites like gooddrama.com; dramacrazy.eu...etc.
Ratings for the first 2 episodes this week are around 10.7 ~ 11.7%.

Welcome @czakhareina..... I too am a fan of Jo Jae Hyeon... Very excited about this drama.

@mannschaft, I wonder what makes KBS World include some drama in their YT station, and not others...  I am surprised by the rating.. I thought it would be higher...

First two raw episodes are on epdrama, and they say they would sub them soon.

@mannschaft, thank you for the trailer and the good news that it would be on KBS World.  (I hope it ends up on their YT channel.)

@sakutonaru, welcome to the thread.

I just got notification from Viki that they don't expect to get a license for this drama... they mentioned that they are working on getting a license for Pacheon Hwang, which is supposedly about the same person...

I see. I once read a piece of information stated that KBS is really strict on the license, so that's why Viki doesn't have high hope on getting that license this time, I suppose.Jeong Do Jeon Opening.

This drama will focus on the events from right before the assassination of king Gongmin of Koryo to when Jeong Do Jeon is killed due to the coup of Lee Bang Won, this period is around 1374 to 1398.
*Pacheonwang, focus on the battle of wits between Jeong Do Jeon and Lee Bang Won, will be handled by MBC, it is planned to air on the second half of 2014 but that plan has changed because MBC's Dae Jang Geum 2 is probably going to take it place. Indeed, MBC stands firm on this project and they also discuss it with Hunan Station of China.http://www.hancinema.net/mbc-dae-jang-geum-2-next-year-47607.htmlTherefore, Pacheonwang will be scheduled in 2015. Moreover, Han Suk Kyu (King Sejong in Deep Rooted Tree), who is considered to be Jeong Do Jeon in Pacheonwang, is busy filming his upcoming movie, so there's high possiblity that he cannot join Pacheonwang this year either.

id="post-5479" class="article-title" Epic dramas to rule small screen in 2014

id="article-subtitle"

01/10/2014  By Chung Ah-young

[...]

KBS, the state-run broadcaster which is home to popular epic dramas such as the 1996 “Tears of the Dragon” over the past years, is recently launching its ambitious 60-episode series “Jeong Do-jeon.”

The broadcaster boasts of its “authenticity” holding historical integrity based more on facts rather than fiction like other epic dramas. The drama focuses on the life of Jeong Do-jeon, a political figure (1342-1398), who was a close supporter of King Taejo, the founder of the Joseon Kingdom. The series puts more emphasis on Jeong’s political faith which influenced Joseon’s politics and laws.

“The drama deals with Jeong’s crucial role in the planning and founding of Joseon and the obstacles he faced in the process,” said Kang Byung-taek, the director of the drama.

The series casts some actors who starred in “Tears of the Dragon” such as Yoo Dong-geun and Ahn Jae-mo. Movie star Cho Jae-hyun appears as the main character of Jeong Do-jeon.

Jeong clashed with his political archrival Yi Bang-won, the fifth son of King Taejo over the successor of Taejo. In 1398, Yi led a coup killing his political rivals including his two half-brothers and Jeong, eventually becoming the third king of Joseon.

Last year, KBS struggled with less than a 10 percent rating of its representative epic drama series, “Dream of the Great King.” To redeem its past glory, the broadcaster has prepared the production of the drama for two years. “Our drama doesn’t distort history but follows facts,” Kang said.

“It’s not a fantasy drama which shows the bloody wars exaggerated with action scenes. Our drama will be a signal for restoring the authenticity of historical dramas,” Yoo said.

Their remarks target MBC’s epic drama “Empress Ki” which stirred the controversy over its historical inaccuracy despite a high viewer’s rating of 17 percent.

Ugh EK is such a failure in every aspect. Sad that a drama without pretty boys and romance don't get the subbers' interest.

"Jeong Do Jeon" Park Young Gyu (Lee In Yim) changes the Koryo diplomatic policy
photo393107_zpsfcbdc60c.jpg
Park Yeong-Gyu's (Lee In Yim) scheme changed the diplomatic policy of the Koryo.
On the KBS 1TV drama "Jeong Do Jeon" on the 12th, the story took place after the envoys of the Ming Dynasty were murdered by the escorts.
Previously, Jeong Do Jeon (Jo Jae Hyun) requested Queen Myeong Deok to let the Ming Dynasty know of the death of the late king. However, this was a difficult situation as Lee In Yim (Park Young Gyu) and the powerful families were worried they would be blamed by the Emperor of the Ming Dynasty.
Meanwhile, Lee In- Yim didn't prevent the envoys being sent to the Ming Dynasty under Choi Young's (Seo In- Seok) request. He made the message come back by killing them.
Jeong Do- Jeon read Lee In-Yim's intentions at once. Lee In-Yim's scheme changed the diplomatic policies altogether.

Not like other historical dramas where kings and generals are the main characters, here in ‘Jeong DoJeon’, a courtier leads the drama. Cho Jaehyun(Jeong DoJeon) said, “Viewers will find this drama realistic, because there is not much difference between now and the end of Goryeo period. Drama ‘Jeong DoJeon’ is a political and historical drama focused on a courtier and there was another similar type of drama ‘Han Myeonghoe’ 20 years ago. Yoo Dong-geun, who used to play Lee Bang-one in another drama is playing his father Lee Seong-gye this time. Yoo Dong-geun(Lee Seong-gye) said, “At that time, actor Kim Moo-saeng played this role and his acting went through my mind. I’m working with a strong sense of vocation.” Drama fans are excited to watch ‘Jeong DoJeon’, and they keep an eye on the fact that if this new historical drama ‘Jeong DoJeon’ will bring new sensation to the small screen.
