*** I re-watched his drama, "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim?" I don't feel the need to explain how PSJ was both charming & convincing as a narcissistic VP. I'm glad that his popularity has started in this drama when he's now heading major drama series as the male lead. I love the OST especially the track, "It's You" by Jeon See Woon. The singer's voice is soft & gentle....love it! The show is definitely more than average to me because it made me laugh, smile & crave for love so as to speak.....The idea of establishing a connection of dark memories of childhood & the present time brought freshness to the script. The office & the people there were used as a very good props for the development of the story.   Love this drama!

Love it too! To me, the show is light and funny that it makes me feel happy in each and every episode. Exploding chemistry between PSJ and PMY as the leads is no joke and i love how they nailed those comical scenes with their superb acting. Not to mention LYJ is definitely not an easy character to play but like we already know, it's so well executed by PSJ. The other cast are good and funny too! I like Yun Ddan Ddan's In The End as my favorite OST :D

Viewers Want Dramas and Characters Reflecting Current Times

There are various characters in drama, but there are not many dramas that are sympathetic or connecting with the public who actually live in reality.

"Korean dramas do not reflect various social strata in reality", the Broadcasting Monitoring Committee of the Citizens' Coalition for Democratic Press (BMCCCDP) said. "On the contrary, the worlds in dramas are too far apart from the real world", it said. "It is hard to sustain the interest and love of viewers by repeating the story of chaebols, romance and fantasy worlds where only broadcasters and actors have changed. Broadcasters should produce dramas that deal with more diverse groups of people and dramas that subtly incorporate reality even in the colorful world of imagination", it pointed out.

Giving vicarious satisfaction through fantasy stories is also a virtue of the drama, but the public also applauds dramas that comfort and encourage them in reality. KBS2 dramas "Fight My Way" or "When the Camellia Blooms" are typical examples.

In "When the Camellia Blooms" Gong Hyo-jin gained a lot of sympathy from viewers with her role as Dong-baek, an orphan abandoned as a child and a single mother who runs a small bar called Camellia. Kang Ha-neul is also a naive and just country youth and police officer, showing off his charm that can be seen anywhere in someone's neighborhood.

"Fight My Way" is a drama about a dramatic success in which a man and a woman forced to live as supporting actors in the world come out of the wheel and stand tall as the main characters of their lives. The story of ordinary young people who dream of becoming national taekwondo athletes, news desk anchors and actors finding new dreams in reality gained sympathy.

Critic Kim said, "The two works show that such a group of occupations that challenge and achieve in various fields on a small scale recieve positive responses from viewers".

However, such characters are not common in the drama market at the moment. It is partly due to the drama production companies' habit of making safe choices through easier and more stimulating materials, but it is more due to the lack of efforts to shed light on various parts of Korean society. Moreover, it is hard to attract viewers' interest, let alone empathy, unless the actors' acting skills and delicate directing are supported.

Critic Kim said, "Even dramas featuring characters that anyone can relate to in reality often combine them with bizarre elements and drop that empathy. It also has the disadvantage of lacking details that older generations don't know well", he pointed out.

Nevertheless, critic Kim said, "It is necessary to try to find characters in areas that are not frequently seen, but that are known to anyone, rather than characters that are not too well-known", and he emphasized, "If the character is given realism through detailed descriptions, it will be well received by viewers".

I just re-watched Hwarang and on second (or third? XD) view I still think the problem with the drama was definitely directing. Man it makes you release, that no mater how good or bad the script is director should be the strongest person in the whole production. The guys were amazing though. Their acting chemistry was so on top and so on point. I wish they could act it Hwarang done in more serious and more gruesome tone, without the fusion part. Costume department could’ve worked a bit harder too maybe. I still don’t understand why they wanted ponytails xD And why PSJ hair length was all over the place xD
But all those could’be been or should’ve been still didn’t make me enjoy the show any less. It was a fun ride;)

And honestly this time I noticed that PSJ looked so good with Seo Ye Ji;) They also match age wise perfectly;)

@Anjalifairy FFMW was such a great show. Literally no minuses, imo. Characters reliable, their problems reliable, their story and straggle in life reliable, their disappointment and dreams reliable, their relationships reliable. The humor is great and hits the mark all the time. Acting and chemistry between all main characters so good. And lead guy is not “genius, billionaire, playboy, tsundere”, but a simple everyday guy. Until this day I feel like it deserved even more recognition;))) Also it was a popular show;)
