Kim So Hyun Talks About Working As A Minor + Her Role As “Under 19” MC

On October 30, Kim So Hyun appeared as a guest on MBC FM4U radio show “Kim Shin Young’s Hope Song at Noon.”

The radio appearance took place just before the actress was scheduled to appear at the press conference for “Under 19,” a survival audition program where 57 young contestants compete for the chance to become part of a final debut group. Kim So Hyun has been cast as the MC on the show.

All the contestants on the show are minors, so Kim So Hyun shared her own experience working from a young age. “I went through puberty in my second year of high school,” she said. “Until middle school, I had a really quiet personality. I was very introverted and shy around people. Even when I was sick or hurt, I’d keep it to myself. But I heard from the people around me that I should come out of my shell, so in my first year of high school I took on way too many projects.”

She continued, “I don’t know if it’s because of that, but in my second year I needed to find my identity again and I talked to my mom a lot. She was shocked because I’d never done that before. That’s how I was able to endure that tough age.”

About her role as the sole MC on “Under 19,” Kim So Hyun said, “I think that my experience [on “Music Core”] helped me. But I was really scared [on the first day of filming]. There aren’t a lot of chances for an actor to stand on a stage, so I was scared of the stage. My mind went blank and I couldn’t see any of the words.”

She added, “There are a lot of talented contestants in the teasers, and they’re good, but there are even more that you haven’t seen yet. Please look forward to it.”

“Under 19” will premiere on November 3.

1. I’ve never go to CLUB such place, because I don’t like too noise environment, but I may go because of acting (practice).
2. Recently I like to drink beer when nothing to do.
3. My university life has spent happily & enjoyed my first semester nicely, but I haven’t go to OT or MT (Orientation, Membership Training).
4. I’ve got my driving licence recently but still haven’t buy a car.
5. I’ve been MC of “Music Core” for 2 yrs & this kind of experience helps me a lot. But my first time filming “Under 19” that day I was so nervous & afraid, cannot even see a word.
6. About watching 19 prohibit movie, I probably want to watch it when still haven’t become an adult, but sometimes you’ll have more desire to watch when you cannot watch it, but actually I haven’t eager to watch it when I turned into adult.
7. People said I’m too mature when I was childhood, I have a bit worry feel that it doesn’t match with my age. Instead, when I grew up, this kind of mature image seems rather helps me, therefore I’m so happy.
8. I’m not regret gave up high school course, I’ve keep contact with my secondary school friends until now.
9. My personality is introvert until secondary school, I suck it up & don’t say it out every moment, then my friend said it doesn’t work. Afterwards, I’ve worked hard a lot & talk to my mother.
