768px-I_Miss_You_-_Korean_Drama-p1After seeing Park Yoochun in Sungkyungkwan Scandal, I could not help myself from lining up his dramas on my TBW pile. After learning that he recently starred in this drama with Yoon Eun Hye (Princess Hours, Coffee Prince), I resolved to see it immediately. Be warned though that Missing you (I miss you) is far different from early dramas featuring these two fine actors but the results made for one very compelling 21 episode drama.

Lee Su Yeon (Eun Hye) is a 15 year old girl who becomes an outcast in the aftermath of her abusive father’s execution for the murder. She is bullied in school for being a murderer’s daughter, and her mother seems not to care about her at all, given all they have been through. Han Jung Woo (Yoochun), on the other hand, is a a priviledged 15 year old boy who returns to Seoul after years of studying the the US to be with his father, who cares more about money than his family. Despite their differences in status, the two form a bond and fall in love with each other, a love that is cut short when they are kidnapped and Jung Woo is made to believe that Su Yeon was killed after she was raped by their captors. Believing that Su Yeon is still alive and vowing to find her, Jung Woo pursues a career in law enforcement and waits for 14 years before he comes across fashion designer Zoe Lou, whom he recognizes as his long lost love. But complications stand in the way as Zoe is committed to a relationship with billionaire Harry Borrison, and is still embittered by her past ordeal.

Missing You is different from Yoochun and Eun Hye’s past dramas mainly because this story is super heavy drama. The story is darker and more complex than other Korean dramas and even the experiences of teenagers from the first four episodes were heart wrenching. I loved the casting for this series. I believe this is one of the most well put together cast in terms of television dramas from the actors playing the young Su Yeon and Jung Woo (Kim So Hyun and Yeo Jin Goo) until they grew up to be the main leads. I loved the chemistry between the kids and the chemistry between the adults as well.

Yoochun  has proven himself once again to be a versatile actor, balancing out his dramatic prowess, his sweet and romantic side and funny side effortlessly. One can truly feel his suffering just by looking into his eyes and his boyish charm shines through when he interacts with Eun Hye and her mother , played Song Ok Sook (Winter Sonata). Yoo Seung Ho (Operation Proposal), who played Harry Borrison, the bipolar billionaire, on the other hand, was such a cutie. He had such an innocent face and even though most of the time, he was plotting something diabolical, his angelic face and his backstory will give viewers pause, debating with themselves whether to love him for being so vulnerable or hate him for standing in the way of true love. Eun Hye, for her part did great justice to her role, but I like her best playing characters with a bit of sass.

Despite a lot of shoddy policework, and overly emotional members of the Gangnam Police Force (which provided much of the humor for the piece), I liked the progression of this drama in the sense that the backstory was entirely fleshed out to make audiences understand the motivations behind the actions of the characters. I also liked the consistency in the acting of the child actors with their adult versions. The kids looked a lot like their adult counterparts,  and their mannerisms were adopted by their 29 year old versions seamlessly.

I liked that the characters were not portrayed as superhuman, but rather as regular individuals who became victims of extraordinary circumstances. The revelations were made gradually so that audiences move on with the characters from the events that happened in the story 14 years ago. They understand how strong the bond is between Su Yeon and Jung Woo. They understand how Harry became the way that he was. They understand the characters’ flaws and how they get past the nightmares and choose to be together despite the odds not being in their favor.

Missing you is a story about how revenge can corrupt the purest of hearts and stand between two people destined for each other. Missing you is a story about enduring love. It is a tale of sorrow and regret and at the same time, it is also talks about hope and second chances. While the flashbacks were a bit much for me, I must admit that it lent consistency to the drama as well as worked for establishing the parallelisms between the past and the present. Missing you is definitely a drama that is not be missed. When watching this drama though, it is best to be armed with a hanky. The waterworks are sure to follow.

韩剧《想你》为MBC电视台于2012年11月起播放的水木连续剧。该剧讲述了一对男女的记忆被初恋满满占据，内心留下无法痊愈的伤口，每天痛苦生活的故事。由于其虐心的剧情以及演员的精彩演绎，该剧一经播出即收视高开高走，并且多次获得同时段的收视冠军。最终，《想你》也取得了稳居2012年播出同期韩国水木剧收视第一的好成绩。该剧的收视旋风不仅在韩国刮起，更刮到了收视大国——中国。一时间想你的情节牵动着无数观众的心，直到大结局上映，很多观众都看得不过瘾，认为“越虐越想看。”该剧在中国受欢迎到什么程度呢？有数据足以说明，据了解，《想你》的视频的网络点击率超过了三亿次，刷新了韩剧的最高纪录，这一成绩让不少业内人士都感到吃惊。此外，《想你》也一度成为百度用户关注度、新浪微博搜索热门话题的前几名，可谓是引爆了网友们热议的激情。终于在近日确定《想你》这部剧将来到中国，给中国观众再过一把揪心纯爱的瘾。

此外，为了给中国观众更多的惊喜，据悉此次引进的中国版《想你》将会比韩版的还要揪心，“我们从韩版那里拿到不少珍贵的花絮，我们会把这些花絮增加到引进版中，所以观众们会看到一个有新意的《想你》，我想应该会比韩版的还要揪心。”

朴有天或将为中国版《想你》配音

在《想你》这部剧中，男主角朴有天的演出格外惹眼，作为东方神起成员出道的他，自从《成均馆绯闻》后正式以演员身份出道，再到这部《想你》，气焰即备受欢迎，被称为“从偶像歌手转演员最成功的”的第一名。为了能够更加突出《想你》这部剧的韩味，朴有天也将亲自参与到这次《想你》的中国版的制作中来。

据了解，此次有望特别邀请到《想你》的男主角朴有天为这部在中国播出的电视剧配音。这对从来没有为中剧配过音的朴有天来说是一个挑战，为此朴有天特别去学习了这几句台词的中文，他也无奈地坦言说中文真的好难。据悉朴有天在《想你》中大概会有数十句台词的演绎，并且分布在不同的集数里面，已经试看过引进版的观众都表示朴有天的配音很难被听出来，简直可以说是以假乱真。

IMY will be introduced on 19th Shanghai TV Festival from 10 June to 14 June 2013. IMY has been imported to China and will probably be shown in different channels in 2013. According to some staff, they have bought some BTS from Korea which will be shown together with the drama. What's more, YC will dub for 10 sentences for IMY using Chinese.

Last year, a melodrama drama “Missing You” set off a frenzy in the ratings throughout Korea, many audiences were moved to tears by the storyline. This year, the drama has been introduced into the country, and with chinese dubbing was broadcast in China and continue to move people to tears over the heart-wrenching pure love storyline. It is understood that the drama will be aired during the year on satellite, although broadcast platforms and specific broadcast timings has not yet been determined. In addition, Park Yuchun will also be personally involved in some areas of the dubbing in the China version.
Addition of precious footage in the China version of “Missing You” will also make the drama more heart-wrenching.
Korean drama “Missing You” was broadcast by MBC television from November 2012 onwards. The drama tells the story of a pair of separated young lover whose memories are fully occupied by their first love for each other, leaving behind wounded heart and their painful day life stories. Because of its heart-wrenching storyline and the actors’ wonderful interpretation of the drama that once it was broadcast, the ratings went off the roof, winning the time segment rating winners time and time again. Eventually, “Missing You” was also ranked No.1 in Korea drama rating for 2012. This drama viewership whirlwind is not just blowing in Korea, but it also blew to a country with large viewership ratings – China. The storyline of “Missing You” affected the hearts of many audience until the final episode, leaving many viewers hungry for more….their views are “the more heart-wrenching the better.” So to what extent is the popularity of this drama in China?
There are data illustrating that “Missing You” recorded a viewership hit of over three hundred million, breaking the records for the highest number of times a drama is viewed, this achievement took many people in the industry by surprise. In addition, “Missing You” also became a hot topic search among Baidu’s users and Sina microbloggers….detonating a fervor in all the internet user. Finally the drama “Missing You” will be coming to China, giving the Chinese audience another chance to enjoy this heart-wrenching pure love drama addiction.

It is understood that special invitation had been given to “Missing You” actor Park Yuchun to join in the dubbing for the China version of the drama. This is a challenge for Park YuChun who had never been involved in any dubbing for a drama in the chinese language. He specially learned a few lines of Chinese but helplessly admitted that Chinese language is really so hard to say. It is reported that Park Yuchun will dubbed a dozen line of dialogue in the China version of “Missing You” and it will be distributed into different episodes, many audiences who had already viewed the introduced version expressed that Park Yuchun did such a good job that it was difficult to tell it from the original version.

I miss "I MISS YOU" a lot! 
Here are a few of my fave scenes from the drama...of course I have a lot more, but then I would end up posting almost the whole drama... :))
I especially love this snowy part, where they promised to get married during the first snow of winter...so sweet & romantic! Look how happy and in love Jungwoo & Sooyeon are~ :xGallery_all_b39.jpg

Ep. 13~~the major turning point & their emotional confrontation. I cried too! Sooyeon was finally able to tell Jungwoo to let go, and that she's okay now, he doesn't have to feel guilty. BUT Jungwoo doesn't let go...there is too much of everything he has for Sooyeon: LOVE, concern, protectiveness, guilt...to just let go. Not just the kiss, but the whole scene was very powerful in finally bringing Jungwoo & Sooyeon "together"...although they wouldn't be together yet as there were still many obstacles to overcome.Gallery_all_b29.jpg

It might be strange to include this scene...this was shot for the drama's preview and a bit different from the actual scene in the drama, but it's the first glimpse we have of adult Jungwoo & Sooyeon. Just realized I kinda went chronologically backwards...haha. "I MISS YOU" will always be one of my fave dramas, not only cuz of Yoochun, Eunhye or the other amazing actors & actresses who brought the story to life...but because it was a touching and emotional story. It's not really a drama that you re-watch over and over per se, cuz the subject matter is quite heavy, but it is one of those dramas that will never be forgotten.
