*** I’m happy for HB that his movie “The Swindlers" is Box Office for the Weekend 2017.12.08 ~ 2017.12.10.  Actually, the movie has been taking box-office for 3rd straight weekend. It has been on top of the daily box office charts since it opened on Nov. 22 and surely this will surpass the 4 million mark in cumulative attendance this week based on below - We can see that the tally was 3.722 million as of Sunday.

[Korean Box Office] ‘The Swindlers’ stays atop box office for third week

 

 

Many people in the movie industry largely attributed the domination of “The Swindlers” at the local box office two weeks ago to be luck, followed by the one-week delay of the college entrance exam, which coincidentally matched the crime film’s release date.

Its stellar performance, however, has proven not to be a fluke, as the film, starring Hyun Bin and Yoo Ji-tae, remained atop the box office for the third consecutive weekend.

Although its share of the total tickets sold has dropped each week, the film has still managed to stay strong amid new releases, like the highly-anticipated Japanese animated film “Mary and the Witch’s Flower” and the action flick “American Assassin.”

“The Swindlers,” centering on a con man and an ambitious prosecutor creating a team of con artists to track down an infamous swindler, sold 418,000 tickets from Friday to Sunday, making up 23.9 percent of the entire weekend ticket sales. Since its release on Nov. 22, it has sold a total of 3.72 million admissions.

 

The box office is expected to be shaken up next week with the release of the local blockbuster “Steel Rain” and the latest installment of the Star Wars series “Star Wars: the Last Jedi.”

Gallup Korea has released the results of their poll to determine Korea’s favorite big screen actors in 2017!

Ha Jung Woo, Hyun Bin, and Jung Woo Sung are the top actors in brand values for the month of December

 

According to the Korea Brand Research Center on December 23 (KST), Ha Jung Woo, Hyun Bin, and Jung Woo Sung are the top ranking actors in terms of brand values for the last month of 2017. 

 

The research center collected big data between November 21 - December 22, resulting in a total of 8,686,565 points for Ha Jung Woo at #1, a total of 7,532,811 points for Hyun Bin at #2, and a total of 7,498,557 points for Jung Woo Sung at #3. 

 

The actor brand rankings from #4 - #10 included, in order: Song Joong Ki, Gong Yoo, Cha Tae Hyun, Kwak Do Won, Yoon Kye Sang, Lee Byun Hun, and Yoo Ah In. 

 

Ha Jung Woo leads two currently showing films in theaters in Korea - 'Along With The Gods' and '1987'. Hyun Bin appears as the male lead in 'The Swindlers', which premiered this past November. Finally, Jung Woo Sung's latest film 'Steel Rain' premiered in theaters back on December 14.

Hi LyraYoo, thanks for sharing this. I hope HB will do a drama soon. This would certainly be a star-powered coupling in case both will take this, a very promising one if it goes through . The melodrama plot looks generic since we've been getting a lot of those lately..... but I hope this is good. I heard that Fox Bride Star is being considered for a Monday-Tuesday drama slot on SBS later this year. In case, I hope they are a good match. Visually, they will be cute together. Park shin hye is always lucky - she's always paired with the biggest actors.  I hope HB takes this because it's been a while since his last drama. He stuck on with films nowadays. Please come back on the small screen now! You can always have me at Hyun Bin.  For PSH, IDK why many are criticizing her acting but for me she can act. So, I will keep my fingers crossed! This is a very important holiday for Koreans and almost everyone travels back to their hometown to be with their families. Rather than abiding by traditional customs, an increasing number of people are using the long holiday as a chance to take a break from the hectic pace of modern life. A large number of Koreans travel abroad now. I wonder how HB will celebrate this long holiday..... Generally, almost all retail stores and businesses will close for at least 2 - 3 days during this time, so there's really not much to do other than be at home. Well, the Lunar New Year is a major holiday observed in Asian countries including China, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Thailand. Most Koreans celebrate both Western New Year and Lunar New Year.

I will greatly anticipate if HB will take this. As far as I remember both had successful dramas under SBS then (Secret Garden & The Heirs starring LMH) – As I’ve said, a “healing” drama is a trend nowadays so, it’s really so generic but, it will be interesting how it would turn-out.

Hyun Bin and Park Sin-hye were offered the lead roles in "Yeowoo Gaksibyeol", a new SBS drama. "Yeowoo Gaksibyeol" is written by Kang Eun-kyeong and directed by Sin Woo-chul of "Lovers in Paris" and "Secret Garden".

Hyun Bin and Park Shin Hye might be partnering up for a new drama!

 

Recently, S.A.L.T Entertainment revealed that Park Shin Hye is reviewing the offer for new SBS drama 'Yeowoo Gaksibyeol' (literal title). New reports on January 24 stated that the male lead for the new production will be Hyun Bin. 

 

The actor's agency, VAST Entertainment, responded to the reports and stated, "SBS 'Yeowoo Gaksibyeol' is one of the productions that were offered to Hyun Bin. Nothing is yet confirmed."

 

'Yeowoo Gaksibyeol' directed by producer Shin Woo Chul of 'Secret Garden' is a melodrama of a man and woman who are looking to heal their hearts in order to move on from hurtful memories of the past. The production plans to air this summer.
