Jang Na-ra headlines new MBC drama
By Baek Byung-yeul The Korea Times

Singer and actress Jang Na-ra, 33, who was lauded for her performance in "Fated to Love You" last summer, came back in another offbeat romance comedy drama "Mr. Back" this Wednesday.
In MBC TV's 16-part drama for the Wednesday-Thursday night slots, Jang stars as Eun Ha-soo, an intern who falls in love with a business tycoon Choi Go-bong (played by actor Shin Ha-kyun) in his 70s, who magically transforms into a young man in his 30s all at once.
"Mr. Back" is based on a novel "Old Man," which was serialized on Kakao Page, a content service platform of mobile messenger Kakao Talk for six months from April to October this year.
In a meeting with reporters, Jang said her character is a little bit different from the conventional candy girl she had played.
"Eun Ha-soo is different from previous roles that I had played. She looks noisy and senseless, but actually is a warm-hearted person who is reliable and becomes a faithful supporter of the company chairman Choi," Jang said at the MBC building in Sangam-dong, west Seoul, Monday.
"I have performed lots of good-natured roles in previous dramas, and frankly I would like to rid myself of those fixed images of the past," she added.
Her breakthrough came with the TV sitcom "New Nonstop," where she played an adorable and ingenuous college student.
In the following year, Jang leapt into stardom through a romance comedy drama, "Successful Story of A Bright Girl."
Actor Shin Ha-kyun spoke about the difficulty of transforming into an old man.
"It's very difficult to change into an old man in his 70s. It takes about four hours to put on makeup," Shin said.
The 40-year-old actor also stressed that he had to mobilize all the imagination he has to perform his role.
Lee Joon, a member of K-pop boy band MBLAQ plays a spoiled son of the company chairman while actor Jung Seok-won stars as a smart and ambitious director of the company.
The Wednesday-Thursday drama "Mr. Back" airs at 10 p.m. from Nov. 5 through MBC TV.

[Ratings Wed, 11.05.14] 'Mr. Back' Begins with Big Numbers
CJ E&M enewsWorld Grace Danbi Hong

The ratings drought of Wednesday and Thursday dramas has ended with the premiere of MBC′s Mr. Back.
Viewers have been complaining over the lack of dramas to watch on Wednesdays and Thursdays with the current dramas not grabbing much interest. It seems that they′ve all been waiting for Mr. Back, starring Shin Ha Kyun, Jang Nara, Lee Joon, and more, as the ratings for the first episode was 14.2 percent, a rating that hasn′t been seen for the longest time for weekday dramas.
Mr. Back began with light humor as it set down its story of a grumpy 70-year old rich man, his immature and irresponsible son, and a hard-working jobless girl with an attitude. Somewhere betwen an accident and a meteor shower, the 70-year old man magically becomes 30-years old, beginning the drama′s roller coaster ride of ups and downs.
Meanwhile, SBS′ My Lovely Girl broadcasted back to back episodes, receiving 5.0 and 3.9 percent for its 14th and 15th episodes. It ends November 6. KBS′ Iron Man was cancelled due to the baseball playoffs.

"Mister Baek" Jang Nara cries because of Sin Ha-gyoon
Source: Newsen via Hancinema.net
photo516600.jpg
On the first episode of the MBC drama "Mister Baek", Choi Go-bong (Sin Ha-gyoon) misunderstood Eun Ha-soo (Jang Nara).
Eun Ha-soo was accepted into the Daehan Resort internship program. Eun Ha-soo was an unemployed youth and was very happy with the fact that she had an intern job.
Eun Ha-soo went to work and Choi Dae-han (Lee Joon) was hiding in a room, away from the eyes of his father. Choi Go-bong started to look into the rooms and Choi Dae-han pulled Eun Ha-soo into his bed, then closed her mouth. Eun Ha-soo kicked her legs and Choi Dae-han thought he'd avoided his father, so he gave her money.
Then Choi Go-bong came in and Eun Ha-soo remembered him from the silver house. He misunderstood her into getting paid for something else and ordered Hong Ji-yoon (Park Ye-jin), "Someone so young as you shouldn't try to live like this! Fire her right away".
Eun Ha-soo followed him out and said, "What do you take me as? I knew you were mean but you really make people feel like garbage. Do you even know who I am and how I've lived my life?"
Choi Go-bong said, "I know I am cruel. I have no desire to work under someone like me".
