Madamtongy
Thank you melusine for you reply. Actually I found in 공블리 Golden Fishery that she appeared. This program is very interesting but I can't understand all of it. I wish it has English subtitle because they talked about her work in the past and her relationship with Ryu Seung-Beom. Btw, anyone know how to join her Daum official fanclub? I can't confirm my identity because I dont' have Korean social security number and for the question I'm not sure for the correct answer, I think I was answer the right one but cause I haven't confirm my identity so it won't let me pass. Guest ching22194
@melusine thanks for the info and for the link of course When i read this news about her being chosen to be a jury for AISFF i felt so delighted, very happy... If i'm not mistaken Son Ye Jin was a jury back in 2009, it's a great honor for an actress to be chosen so could it mean she's on top of her career right now? I was hoping someone could translate the article since i don't understand Korean but i picked up some info.. btw is there any english trans already? Anyways The 9th AISFF will be this coming Nov.2 but what really interest me is the reason why she got picked. Because of her drama and movies where she portrayed variety of distinctive character she gained the title/dubbed as "Nation's Crush" (it reminds me of MGY who is the "Nation's Younger Sister") who could have thought this time would come (not that i think its impossible ) we all know how she wanted to be regarded as a "pretty" actress and not just an actress who is "really good in acting" i felt vindicated, and how happy could this make her. She slowly modify the definition of what true beauty is.

It's her last name 공 + lovely(러블리) = 공+블리 Korean is a bit hard to understand. I'm studying Korean but still at basic level. I'll try harder so I can understand better. Thank you for all the pictures. melusine
^bwahahahaha! That is one fugly photo. I've seen Hyo-Jin's old modeling pics, but this one looks photoshopped to my untrained eye (check out the wonky right arm and chin/neck area). There are a few netizen reactions @KpopFever. Yeah, she almost always makes an appearance at Seoul Fashion Week to attend the shows of her designer friends (in previous years: Kaal E. Suktae, Jardin de Chouette, Suecomma Bonnie, etc). She's especially close to pushBUTTON's Park Seung-Gun since they collaborated on her shoe line. Her Golden Fishery interview wasn't super revelatory like Go Hyun-Jung's or as funny as Lee Seon-Gyun's, but Hyo-Jin is naturally chatty so it made for an entertaining watch. Thanks for dropping by, lot_lot. Korean is a bit hard to understand. I'm studying Korean but still at basic level. I'll try harder so I can understand better. Good luck and fighting! I really admire her fashion sense, wearing read in a film festival press con? she's one of a kind She looks great in that red dress+boots, good thing she doesn't shy away from color. Ever since Best Love, she seems to favor simple but impeccably cut clothes. Oh, and I covet her gray coat! A lot of the time she pulls off insane outfits that ordinary mortals like us and even other celebrities can't. But even when she doesn't, Hyo-Jin always has her own sense of style and that's what makes her truly stylish (not just fashionable or trendy). When i read this news about her being chosen to be a jury for AISFF i felt so delighted, very happy... Because of her drama and movies where she portrayed variety of distinctive character she gained the title/dubbed as "Nation's Crush" (it reminds me of MGY who is the "Nation's Younger Sister") who could have thought this time would come (not that i think its impossible ) Yep, Son Ye-Jin was the 'Face in Shorts Award' juror for the 2009 AISFF, and it was Kim Hye-Soo in 2008. This is Hyo-Jin's third time on a filmfest jury; she was one of the jury members for the King of Comedy section in the 2006 Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival [via SidusHQ, Cinetizen] and she was the jury president/chairman of the 2009 International Women's Film Festival in Seoul [via Chosun Ilbo, Daum]. It's no coincidence that she got chosen right after getting critical raves for her work (Family Ties (2006) and Crush & Blush (2008)). This year I suppose it's due to the afterglow from Best Love (which would also explain her puzzling inclusion in Movieweek's list of top box office draws--she obviously can't "open" a movie yet). I would like to think she takes judging these films seriously and considers it an honor, after all bagging an award is a big leg up for a young director's career. Also, immersing herself in diverse movies and mingling with industry professionals can only further her film education as an actress. we all know how she wanted to be regarded as a "pretty" actress and not just an actress who is "really good in acting" i felt vindicated, and how happy could this make her. She slowly modify the definition of what true beauty is. Agree with your last line. I'm very happy for her recent successes and I do like that she's honest about her vanity and insecurity (I'm sure all actors and actresses are vain and insecure, whether they admit it or not kekeke), but I also hope Hyo-Jin KNOWS deep deep down that being a good actress is infinitely better than being a pretty one. I don't know if it's the reporters or herself who keeps bringing it up, but the subject's been discussed ad nauseam in interviews that it's starting to concern me a bit. Sometimes I want to reach into my computer screen and shake her: Stop caring so much about being considered pretty! You're already awesomesauce! One of the things I love about her as an actress is that her unconventional looks essentially freed her from being typecast in the usual Candy/Cinderella roles, such that she forged a different path for herself. It must not have been easy, but it's what makes her unique. And at the end of the day, beauty is fleeting, but good acting (on celluloid/digital) is forever. Now that she's becoming more popular, I really really hope that doesn't mean she'll turn her back on darker, challenging material because it'll clash with her CF deals and Gongvely image. I'm keeping faith that eventhough she'll inevitably do crowd-pleasing stuff, she'll always balance that with the fearlessness she showed in her less mainstream projects.
