Tamago86
まだ演奏してる?^^ じゃん isn't just a suffix that you can add onto something, and it has a meaning or else it wouldn't exist, it's important to understand the meaning before you use it. じゃん is a shortened form of じゃないかい、which does *not* mean "It's not X". In most cases じゃん used in this way is kind of forceful assertion, like "Come on, it's X!!" Example: ブスだよ、あたし (I'm so ugly!) え?!可愛いじゃん! (What?! Come on you're pretty!) これ食べない? (Would you like to eat this?) いや、ちょっと。。 (Nah that's ok..) おいしいじゃないか!味わってみたら? (Come on it's tasty! How about you try tasting it) Listen to some real life examples and this is most likely the translation it will fall under And just for reference じゃん comes after just about everything, and it replaces だ Verb 来るじゃん! Adjective 可愛いじゃん! Noun 人間じゃん! (notice how there's no だ) It goes the same with all conjugations as well 来なかったじゃん! 可愛くなかったじゃん! 人間だったじゃん! (However, だった is still used) could someone teach me how to say "i dont know what your talking about" and "what are you saying?" in japanese? if its not the same? xD preferably in slang? thanks in advance You want real slang? Ok! "I don't know what you're talking about" なにいってっか、わかんねー And that's realllly slangy (I think Orangecake will yell at me for it, haha) How? Original Form: なんて言ってるのか分からない 1st change: なんていってんのか、わからん 2nd: なんていってっか、わからん 3rd: なにいってっか、わかんねー It also depends largely on dialect, like where you live..Because people here in Hokkaido would say なにいってるか、わからないしょや, and people where you go might say it different. As for さ which was discussed earlier, there are a few different meanings. One is the さあ that comes in front of sentences, which is kind of like hesitation or ugency, depending on context. Like if someone asked you for directions and you didn't know the way, you'd say さあ、分かりませんね There's also a different type of さ, and EMA has good ears because she picked it up This さ, used in most places in Japan, is a particle with a very very close, even intimidating, feeling attached to it. It's often used when someone wants to express something that someone else should have known. Such things are hard to translate in writing as they are expressed by intonation of voice in English. 「だってさ、帰ってから電話するって言ってたのにさ」 "But you were saying you were going to call me after you got home"! (ie why the hell didn't you?) 「なんで話してくれないの?」「疲れたからさ!」 "Why won't you talk to me?" "Cuz I'm tired!!" But there's also another type of さ that teenagers use obsessively...It's hard to explain ウチ昨日ラーメン食べたさー This means 私は昨日ラーメンを食べました, it has no overbearing feeling attached to it..It's just the way alot of teenagers talk these days, for one reason or another.. By the way, さ is like じゃん in how you form it; you don't use だ, but you use だった Do you guys understand that? I'm bad at explaining 汚い若者言葉いっぱい教えちゃってごめんなm(_)m Use at your own risk! Tamago86
okay lets see.. 走る=走った しゃべる=しゃべった 信じる=しんじった きる=きった おきる=おきった 聞く=きいた? 直る=なおった 出る=でった i hope that's right what is the Japanese words for "in, at" and do they use subject and object markers like Korean? Sorry I should have explained better, there are some exceptions to the rules..I don't even know if you'd call them exceptions, but there are verbs that look like a certain type of verb but really aren't. All of those are correct except the ones below. The tricky part is with verbs ending in -iru and -eru, most have predictable conjugations, but there are ones that don't that you need to be careful for, namely: しゃべる = しゃべた 信じる = しんじた 起きる = おきた 出る = でた Luckily these are commonly used verbs so you'll get used to it pretty quick, so don't worry about it. Yea there are subject and object markers in Japanese. Object Marker: 쿠키를 먹었다 = クッキを食べた So 를 / 을 = を Subject Marker: 그는 오지 않았다 = 彼は来なかった So 는 / 은 = は 누가 물었어 = 誰が聞いたの? So 가 / 이 = が I assume you know the different nuance between 는 / 은 and 가 / 이 in Korean, thankfully it's the same in Japanese, because it's like impossible to explain it in English.. Location: 학교에 갔다 = 学校に行った 미국에 살고 있다 = アメリカに住んでいる So 에 = に 교실에서 공부했다 = 教室で勉強した So 에서 = で BUT 비행기로 간다 = 飛行機で行く 포크로 먹는다 = フォークで食べる Therefore the で that emphasizes location in Japanese is 에서 but the one which emphasizes means or how someone did something is 로, they're different in Korean but in Japanese the same. Do you understand that? Sorry my Korean is pretty rusty, but I hope you understand the particle usage now..They're pretty similar
