The last episode was quite interesting. I cried in it. It was pretty sad. I understand his dilemma. The ending seems to leave things open for a special. In the end when he falls of a chair, he seems have gone back into his own era? I'm not sure. Miki was a teacher. I guess her fate changed when Nokaze was saved. I thought Miki was a goner for sure. But I guess if Nokaze didn't go back to the brothel, she could have married someone else and had kids. History would just be somewhat altered.

Finally Heiwa sub release the subs for the finale. I can understand the drama. So, Jin is accepting his faith. And at the end, he has a vision that Miki is alive. Nokaze is probably an ancestor of Miki. As Nokaze - after the operation - tried to be a private tutor and Miki's scene at the end is like doing some lecture. She's like what Saki said is like water. In whatever period remain the same, just like Jin who always a doctor in the past and in the future. It's so sad when Nokaze request Saki to protect Jin. It felt like Nokaze give Jin to Saki. Oh I love this drama a lot!... But with the ending like that, I now not sure whether there will be a special or season 2, though hoping there is. ;)

Merry Xmas & happy holiday everyone!

Just finished the last episode.. i think this whole series is really refreshing. The set design of Edo is really pretty and the historical part is weaved in really nicely with the main plot.

Kudos to the actors too! In particular, I was impressed with Miki Nakatani's role of Nokaze the most. The shot done of her in the snow in the last ep was really good! She really portrayed the role well and captured Nokaze's feelings of loneliness, pain and inner strength.

^ for me i didn't know how to take miki nakatani's acting... but that last episode when she was leaving Jin and the rest and it started to snow... and with Jin ... so many things going through his mind... a scene with a lot of impact (and when i started to appreciated her acting)

and the scene before when Jin keeps asking, "This is fine, isn't it?" .... those words...

wahhh.... a 25% rating for JIN on the last episode.

also major props to the subbers for this show. very good subbing.

Best Drama of 2009, hands down. No contest.

There's just so much going on, so much tension and conflict. Not necessarily in the scenes and actions, but the underlying storyline and the choices all of the characters have to make. It's a drama that really makes you think. I also love that this is also a drama where you couldn't truly predict what was going to happen next. Each episode just created more questions for the viewer, whether or not this was good or bad, it's up to the individual viewer. I still have many more left unanswered lol. But, I love the message it was trying to get at the end. If things are meant to happen, they will somehow happen no matter what.

The scenes were lovely. The wardrobe was gorgeous. The actors were impressive. Ahh, that Nokaze scene with the snow. Absolutely stunning. Words cannot begin to describe how much that scene just stood out.

I'm rewatching the drama over again. Yes, I agree xx|outsider|xx. I realized what is the meaning of the fetus? And I just realized that the voice over in the first ep is a woman? Why is not Jin? Who is that woman's voice? Nokaze? If yes, how it relate with the future Jin as there's still Miki (although she's in a coma?). Also Jin once go back in the future, and saw Miki who isn't in a coma? Why he go back and then transported again to the past? What's the meaning of this go back and forth Jin from future-past-future-past. Someone can help explain this? ;)

They didn't explain the meaning of the fetus and there doesn't seem to be any plans for continuing according to TBS. The voice over in the first ep is Miki. Nokaze speaks with a different dialect. Miki still exists in the future. Jin I'm not sure if he ever found his way back. Also it's unclear if Jin ever did go back to the future in his coma. I might just be his hallucination. Or it might be his memories changing? Since the future changes, it could be his memory changing. In the final episode, it looks like he might go back? Not sure. His head suddenly hurt and he fell off the chair. In that moment, they flash back to the present and Miki is teaching. The photo disappeared. I assume they never met since she didn't do intern at the hospital.

Hm.... You gave me another perspective again, Seirin. Jin in a coma and not return...I'm still rewatching ep 4. Perhaps I can see your point of view. Thank you.

I can't express how much i love this drama...It is really worth rewatching and I don't even get bored rewatching it...The scenes were all played out superbly, but i guess the flaw lies in the fetus thingy. A lot of things are left hanging as well. Correct me if I am wrong...whenever Jin sees the fetus, he gets giddy right? So does that mean that the patient is him to be exact? I read somewhere that the patient seems to be Jin as he knew where the medical supplies were and stuff but then why ryoma's voice then? That is what i do not understand....

Jin will be made into a movie according to the Japanese press today. The movie will be screened in theatres next year though there's no news on the period in which it will take place.

Someone mentioned that Nokaze speaks dialect in an earlier post. Just wanted to mention that it's an adapted form of courtly speech that was coined by the courtesans at Yoshiwara in order to assimilate the women and erase traces of their backgrounds.

"JIN" sequel slated for spring 2011

Mon, June 7, 2010 (6:41pm EDT)

The popular, award-winning drama series "JIN" is officially getting a sequel, scheduled for spring 2011. Takao Osawa (42) will reprise his starring role, along with other main cast members including Haruka Ayase (25), Masaaki Uchino (41), and Miki Nakatani (34).

Based on a manga by Motoka Murakami about a brain surgeon who gets sent back in time to the Bakumatsu era, "JIN" originally aired last fall. The series averaged over a 19% rating, with the final episode reaching 25.3%, the highest for any drama series on a commercial network last year.

Osawa commented that he was concerned about the sequel being a retread of the first series. However, the new series is said to be a step up in terms of scale and intensity. One of the highlights will be the assassination of Sakamoto Ryoma (Uchino) and whether the surgeon Jin (Osawa) can save him. New characters being introduced include Nakaoka Shintaro and the samurai Saigo Takamori.

Rumors surfaced earlier this month that Osawa and Ayase are in a relationship, but both of their agencies have denied it. As a result, the series will be receiving extra attention from fans and the media, especially since their characters in the drama are romantic interests.

The show's producer stated that this will be the conclusion of the drama and that there will be no movie version.
